“Drum roll please!”
Last night’s CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Awards in New York attracted the cream of the crop from our design pond, but only a few could take home a gong.
Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy were the toast of the evening, winning the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award. They brought along a very happy Kirsten Dunst as their date.
Proenza Schouler were named Accessory Designer of the Year. While a very confident Alexander Wang was awarded the Swarovski Award for Womenswear.
For the first time the Popular Award was given to Ralph Lauren. Special honors included Anna Sui for the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, and Marc Jacobs for the International Award. Check out a full list of the winners after the jump…

Here is the first image to be released from the autumn/winter 2008-09 Miu Miu ad campaign starring the Vanessa Paradis, which was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot in Los Angeles.
Paradis upsurped spring/summer face Kirsten Dunst to become what the fashion house says is, “yet another interpretation of the Miu Miu woman”. But doesn’t it kind of look like the same interpretation with a new girl and new bag? This ad has a very similar aesthetic as the Dunst pictures and it’s kind of hard to decide if that’s just signature Miu Miu style or the lack of fresh vision.
Paradis is seen here wearing a piece from Miu Miu’s horse jockey-inspired collection, and toting one of the lust-worthy bags of the season. Let the waiting lists begin!

What’s there really to do on President’s Day but read magazines? A few of our favorite ladies graced the covers of the top glossies. Currently doing the publicity rounds for their new film The Other Boleyn Girl, Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman hit the cover for March’s issue of W. Shot by Steven Klein, both ladies are wearing Miu Miu. They both look okay, but honestly we prefer Miu Miu’s ads with Kirsten Dunst.

The great thing about the Sundance Film Festival is that all of Park City is our red carpet. Celebs are photographed more here than on the streets of L.A. Scarves and boots have been the biggest fashion stories, protecting the fashionable from the cold and the drab all at the same time. We love Olivia Wilde’s red boots and checked coat. It’s risky wearing two such statement-making pieces but we think it works. She was in town to promote her film Fix, not to make out with Mischa Barton.

While we love almost everything Kirsten Dunst does on film (and her fabulous wardrobes) we’re not always a fan of her real-life fashion. Not that an ad campaign is real life, but what do you think of this image from her Miu Miu spring campaign shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in LA last November. We think Miu Miu and Kiki are a perfect match, but wish we saw more of the star in this photo. Okay, okay, the shoe is the star, but we wish we saw more of Kirsten. Love her headband and the dress. A backstage video of this shoot would be more than welcome.

With the cancellation of the Golden Globes and the possible lack of Oscars this year celebrities are having the find new excuses to wear their favourite designer outfits. Some of the parties will still go ahead, including Elton John’s Oscar party but there is also New York Fashion Week!
CQ fav Kirsten “Kiki” Dunst is rumoured to be just one of the stars attending the shows in February. Fashionista report that her PR refuses to confirm or deny the rumours but expect to see her at Marc Jacobs and/or Rodarte (especially as she wore their dress to Spiderman 3 premiere).

Sometimes the splashy tabloid magazines are too hard to pass up and we’re just dying to know what catastrophe Britney has gotten herself into this week, and we find pages of pages of candid shots of our favorite celebrities doing extraordinary things like buying coffee or going to the gym (note the sarcasm?). After cooling down her front row presence for seasons, Kirsten Dunst made an appearance at the Chanel show in Paris on Friday. She apparently attended the show because Karl Lagerfeld and the fashion house was hosting a party for her later at their couture salons. The party was in honor of Kirsten’s guest editorship of Lula Magazine, and Audrey Tautou, and Rachel Bilson all came out to congratulate the temporary editrix.

Kirsten Dunst has signed as the new face of Miu Miu for spring 2008. The ads were shot this past week in L.A. with photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot. Miuccia Prada is hoping this will help boost sales as the brand opens new boutiques in the U.S. on 57th Street in Manhattan and Rodeo Drive in L.A. early in the upcoming year.
