Lauren Conrad has launched her own beauty website.
The former ‘Hills’ star turned fashion designer has teamed up with her hairstylist, Kristin Ess, and make-up artist Amy Nadine to create the site thebeautydepartment.com, which will show visitors how to master popular hair and make-up trends at home.
Lauren said: “Growing up, I never really learned how to do my hair and makeup correctly and the results weren’t always great. Our goal with The Beauty Department is to provide girls and young women with a basic how-to of simplified versions of popular trends and styles that they can recreate themselves.”
The website will also cover health-related beauty topics and allow readers to submit questions.
Lauren is not the only celebrity to launch her own website.
Earlier this month Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen joined forces with BeachMint Inc – a company headed by MySpace founder Josh Berman – to launch a shopping forum.
The site promises to combine shopping and social media to offer users a unique experience where they will be given recommendations for purchases based on the responses registered users give in style questionnaires.
Mary-Kate and Ashley will design products available – starting with a range of $29.99 women’s t-shirts – and create videos for the site.
As I mentioned yesterday, rat-face Spencer Pratt has admitted to lying to Lauren Conrad in order to get her to come to his wedding to Heidi Montag. Nevertheless, as we all know L.C. did attend the wedding, filmed (and likely paid for) by MTV for Sunday’s episode of The Hills. Here is a sneak peek of what went on inside the church for the couple’s big day. My favourite part has to be the appalled look on L.C.’s face when her old rival and new replacementKirsten Cavallari unexpectedly shows up. I honestly couldn’t have scripted it better myself. On the brink of her television departure from The Hills, due to air on Sunday, Lauren Conrad has admitted that she prefers a more casual look when hanging out with boyfriend, Kyle Howard.
“I feel sexiest with him when I’m in sweatpants and no makeup,” she tells the June issue of Cosmopolitan.
In addition to her sexy sweatpant style, L.C. also confessed that she was annoyed at producers for insisting that she and Heidi Montag be brought together.
Look out world! It seems Lauren Conrad wasn’t kidding when she said she was “writing” a novel.
Teen Vogue got their mitts on two pages of the young adult novel titled, L.A. Candy, due out June 16. What’s it about? I hear you ask. Well, it’s about a girl named Jane who moves to Hollywood and lands her own reality show (sounding familiar yet?). Jane soon finds the pressures and pains of being the star of her own somewhat rehearsed reality show a drag.
It’s a bit of Lauren Conrad overload today, but we thought you’d still like to know those rumours that she would be resting her fashion label really weren’t a sign that she was giving up on design for good.
Why? Because the reality TV star has just announced a new collaboration with Kohl’s department stores.
Just a month after LC revealed she would be taking a hiatus from her upscale line, she has revealed that she will be launching a brand new range, called LC Lauren Conrad, for Kohl’s.
“It is a California chic line,” she said. “It is a little more casual. They are basically trying to take that California style and make it accessible everywhere.”
The number one place to be on Monday night was at the opening of the new D&G flagship store in Los Angeles. Dolce & Gabbana certainly have some fine young thangs for pals, inviting a plethora of young Hollywood stars to their glitzy bash on Robertson Blvd. The opening also doubled as a charity event, to raise funds for The Art of Elysium – a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of artists and critically ill children. Among the high-profile guests were Rachel Bilson, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Lauren Conrad, Rumer Willis, and Paris and Nicky Hilton. We have all the red carpet pics of what they wore – check out our special gallery!
The future of L.A. Fashion Week is unsure as IMG, the producer of fashion weeks around the world, and Smashbox Studios, the main venue for the L.A. shows, disolve their partnership.
It’s no secret that L.A. Fashion Week doesn’t attract the big name stars you would think a fashion event in Hollywood’s own back yard would. New York Fashion Week and even foreign fashion weeks see more American celebs than their home-state event.
It’s always been a chicken or the egg situation – celebs attend shows for the media coverage a lot of the time, and the paparazzi goes where the most celebs are. So who stopped showing up to L.A. first?
My eyes are still flickering from the Nanette Lepore show. There was only one row separating me from Lauren Conrad and Lo Bosworth of The Hills and the photogs were clicking-away right up until the very last second before the show. How celebrities don’t get migraines from all these flashes I’ll never understand. Migraine aside, Nanette Lepore presented a collection that mixed neutrals with pops of color (poppy, lime green, teal, hibiscus, leaf, stone), and prints for a floral-filled, feminine and romantic Spring collection that was heavy on the ruffles, paisley and stripes.
Right now the accessory that is finding pride of place in her accessory cupboard (aside from her ‘Lauren’ name ring) are her Karen Walker ‘Annie’ shades in tortoiseshell, which she has been wearing for months on end now. These are a popular style from the designer’s first eyewear collection (TheBagLady’s Kelly has them in black) which she is bringing back this season in two new colours – the tortoiseshell as seen on Lauren and a cream/chocolate combination.
The Teen Choice Awards this year were about one show and one show only, Gossip Girl. Once you’ve got over that (non) shock, it’s time to admire the dresses, which ranged from floor-length and hippy inspired to micro mini 80s. What’s a publicity-seeking reality star to do when one of the events she’s paid to participate in isn’t exactly as fab as she’s quickly and inexplicably become accustomed to? Throw a hissy fit, I guess.
After the Humane Society and Animal Fair magazine flew Lauren Conrad first class to New York to participate in their charity fashion show featuring celebrities and their dogs/rescue dogs, Conrad refused to walk in the show. Which will ostensibly cost the charity a lot of money they were hoping to raise since there’s now no Conrad outfit to auction off, as was the plan.
Varied hemlines heated up the red carpet at the premiere of “The Dark Knight” in New York.
Unsurprisingly, Blake Lively showed the most leg in a Mary-Kate-esque silk romper. As is usually the case with one piece sets like this, the fit seems a little off. They’re always either too skin tight or baggy in the wrong places. Having a perfect body like Blake’s helps you pull it off, though.
