Jessica Simpson adds swimwear to her label

While some celebrity lines are cracking under the economic strain, others including Jessica Simpson’s, appear to be flourishing. The singer/actress is expanding her popular fashion empire to include swimwear. She has signed a licensing agreement with Red Carter LLC to produce a full range of swimming attire including separates and cover-ups in a variety of bright colours, animal and floral prints. The range will wholesale from $15.50 up to $58, and is set to launch in December 2009.

Jennifer Lopez pulls the plug on her Sweetface fashion line

It looks like it’s all over red rover for Jennifer Lopez’s fashion label, Sweetface in America. The singer is pulling the plug on her contemporary sportswear brand after six years.

“In light of some new company strategies, we have decided to put the Sweetface line on hiatus while we prepare to reintroduce the brand in the near future with new messaging points and an entirely new fashion point of view,” the company said in a statement.

When Jen is planning to relaunch her label is as yet unknown, but it marks the latest blow in her clothing empire. In 2007, the company shut down its JLO brand and replaced it with justsweet to be distributed outside of the U.S. This line was also closed down after only a few seasons. The good news is that Sweetface Fashion Co., her parent company will continue to distribute her brands overseas.

Nicole Richie to add clothes and shoes to House of Harlow 1960

Nicole richie.jpg Fans of Nicole Richie and her House of Harlow 1960 jewellry line will no doubt be happy to hear the news that she will soon be adding clothes and shoes to her label.

The former reality TV star is getting ready to unveil her second collection, and has revealed that it will be a “totally different line.”

While her last range focussed on African and Indian-inspired designs, Nicole says the next one “is focusing more on old English, equestrian and more sophisticated looks.”

As for the clothes and shoes, she adds: “I’ve been working really hard on designing and picking the right fabrics for my Spring 2010 line.”

Miley Cyrus and Max Azria coming to a Wal-Mart near you!

Miley Cyrus.jpg Uh-huh it’s true… Miley Cyrus and Max Azria have inked a deal with Wal-Mart to create a line for juniors. Can you just hear the dollar signs ringing already?

The range is to be called “Miley Cyrus and Max Azria” (some originality maybe?) and will include tops, pants, graphic T-shirts and shoes, starting from $20. It will go on sale at Wal-Mart outlets and via Walmart.com from August this year.

I guess we should have known something was up when Miley starting wearing grown-up wear by Azria. For example, that sparkly minidress Hervé Léger dress she wore to the London premiere of Hannah Montana: The Movie. Look out Olsens!
