Gallery: Spotted at the One Day première. Including Anne Hathaway pictures

By emilyborrett on August 24th, 2011

Anne Hathaway looked elegant and poised in a form-fitting white lace dress

I don’t know about you, but weepy romantic films like One Day are not my bag. (I know this is totally unfair because I haven’t actually seen One Day, but I saw enough meaningful glances and lines like ,”I love you Dexter… I just don’t like you anymore..” to get the picture.) Having said that, I love a good premiere, especially one  Anne Hathaway is at.

Anne looked every inch the star at yesterday’s première in an incredibly elegant fitted midi-dress made out of white lace, worn with nude heels and 40s-inspired starlet hair. Her co-star, Ramola Garai, looked like a vintage siren in a black lace cocktail dress and smoky eye-makeup. Also looking quite romantic was Peaches Geldof attending the event with her new boyfriend, Thomas Cohen. Peaches looked very airy-fairy in a wafting nude maxi dress with chiffon cape sleeves and crystal detailing.

“Made In Chelsea” star Millie Mackintosh looked like a FINE FILLY in a pair of high-waisted leather shorts to show off her St Tropez tan, worn with a chic grey tweed jacket that we’re almost definite is Chanel. Also rocking a more informal, smart-casual look was MTV’s Lauren Whitmore who turned up in a cool, slouchy men’s tuxedo jacket with a miniskirt for a sexy twist on the current androgynous trend. Elly Jackson was also there in a mad brocade coat.

Our top style points go to the actress Jodie Whittaker, who looked SO elegant and beautiful in a very structured, high-necked white dress with long sleeves to show off her slim figure. Jodie teamed the dress with some statement black and silver heels and a silver clutch for a clean and modern look.

Check out the gallery above to see who we spotted at the “One Day” première and what they wore.

Style icons: Audrey Hepburn

By Andrea Petrou on March 24th, 2011

By Emily Borrett.

The sad passing of Elizabeth Taylor yesterday got me thinking about silver screen goddesses – Liz Taylor was certainly an icon and will be missed by everyone. So who’s your all-time style icon, the one that you take inspiration from when you simply can’t decide what to wear? Over the next few weeks I’m going to look at some of the most iconic dressers of all time, their best looks and pieces that you can buy on the high street to steal a little bit of their fashion magic.

So who better to start with than the queen of chic herself, Audrey Hepburn? Even if you haven’t seen any of her films, everyone knows that little black Givenchy dress, the diamond earrings, the elegant black silk gloves and the cigarette holder – it’s one of the most iconic looks in film history. With her gamine features, charisma and tiny ballerina’s figure, Audrey Hepburn was – and still is – a fashion designer’s dream.

The key to Audrey’s timeless style is all about simplicity. A timeless off-duty look for the iconic film-star was a pair of slim-fitting capri pants cropped above the ankle, worn with neat ballet flats and a simple top. To add a low-key outfit some charm and sparkle, she’d simply add a pair of jaw-droppingly stunning earrings. As for eveningwear, well, you’ve seen her in that little black dress haven’t you? Have a look at our favourite Audrey moments and then see pieces you can buy to copy her look on the high street.

Eva Herzigova goes for a LBD for the Princess of Montpensier premier

By Andrea Petrou on May 17th, 2010

Eva Herzigova Cannes International Film Festival 2010 - Day 5 - 'The Princess Of Montpensier' premiere-400.jpg

While other celebrities are donning long ball gown dresses in a bid to make best dressed lists at this years Cannes Film Fesrival Eva Herzigova decided to go for something totally different.

The model shunned smart frocks and instead went for a LBD complete with stunning black killer heels for the day four premier of The Princess of Montpensier.

We love this almost punk look, which really made Eva stand out and is a much more wearable version of a lot of the other frocks celebrities wear.

What do you think of Eva’s dress? Leave your comments below and let us know.

Coleen makes a huge fashion faux pas at the Manchester United player of the year awards

By Andrea Petrou on May 5th, 2010

Last night the WAG brigade was out in force as Manchester United players hit the red carpet for the annual Man U player of the year awads.

However, although Coleen Rooney was the style star of the night in a LBD complete wth a statement zip at the back, the famous WAG, who never usually puts a foot wrong, made the ultimate faux pas leaving the sale labels on the soles of her shoes.

We know this is something that happens to the best of us, although our labels would read New Look rather than Coleen’s Louboutins, but it’s not something we expect from our favourite WAG. Perhaps it’s the late nights and early mornings she’s been experiencing since the birth of her little boy.

Many of the player’s wives and girlfriends made a sophisticated albeit sombre approach opting for black, with the exception of Michael Owen’s wife who wore an on-trend 50s frock, and a few WAG wannabes who took tack to a whole new level.

View the gallery below for all the fashions from the night and let us know your worst fashion faux pas by leaving your comments below.

Sarah Harding steals the fashion limelight at the 2010 Empire Film Awards

By Andrea Petrou on March 29th, 2010

Sarah Harding Empire film awards.jpg
It was another star studded event last night as Brit celebs donned their glad rags and hit the red carpet for the Empire Film 2010 awards.

And although many stars including Jamie Winstone and Michelle Ryan, looked fantastic (we’ll be giving you a best dressed gallery shortly) it was Sarah Harding that really stole the fashion limelight.

The Girls Aloud singer and party girl rocked up to the event held at the London Grovsenor Hotel in a can’t go wrong little black dress with rouching detail and pink satin stripes. She completed the look with matching pink sky scraper peep toe heels.

Do you agree that Sarah looked good? Vote and leave your comments below to let us know.

Get a LBD body with Wahanda

By Andrea Petrou on October 30th, 2009

Beauty Wah.jpgWe don’t mean to depress you so close to weekend festivities, but we thought we’d give you a gentle reminder that, as much as we hate to admit it, the party season is almost upon us and the pressure of squeezing in that LBD has finally arrived.

This time of year is probably one of the hardest times to lose a few pounds when you’re surrounded by mince pies, glasses of mulled wine and alcohol based parties (yes they always lead to a late night kebab for us too) are around.

So what do you do? Avoid events and make a runner when mince pies are near you? Or just take the easy route. Why not visit Wahanda and book a pamper day for a quick inch loss fix and beauty makeover.

Choose from a number of treatments including detoxifying massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing and more to leave you prepped and prim for the party season ahead

And if you want to get your Christmas shopping started (well there’s more time for parties if you start it early) you can also treat and lucky someone to a Wahanda Spa and Wellness Gift Voucher. It’s accepted at hundreds of day spas, salons, gyms, yoga studios and fitness centres nationwide.

Who wore it better? Haylie Duff or Victoria Beckham

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on May 21st, 2008

who wore it better.jpg

Haylie Duff and Victoria Beckham both got their hands on What Comes Around Goes Around’s black Marsha dress, $315.

We were surprised that VB actually had the more funky outfit with black gloves and a cardigan, while Haylie kept her look more classic.

Who do you think wore it better?

LBDs are how they roll at the Movies Rock red carpet

By Andrea Thatcher on December 3rd, 2007

LBD%20at%20Movies%20Rock.jpg

Movies Rock, much like Fashion Rocks, is a celebration of music in film and was held at the Kodak Theatre last night. Singers and actors mingled on the red carpet, while songs from popular movies were performed by the likes of Mary J. Blige, Fergie and Jennifer Lopez. For the blonde stars on the red carpet, it seems that a black dress was the essential item, though in Jennifer Morrison’s case it was a black jumpsuit. Diane Kruger showed off her legs in a strapless black mini dress, accessorised with a silver clutch, red lipstick and black Manolo Blahniks. Alicia Silverstone chose a drop waist handkerchief hem black dress, with Jennifer Morrison choosing a dramatic black jumpsuit with very wide legs. Sarah Jessica Parker at benefit screening of ‘The Family Stone’

By Andrea Thatcher on November 9th, 2007

SJP.jpgHow cute is this dress? Attending The Cinema Society and Vogue screening of ‘The Family Stone’ benefit at the Tribeca Grand Hotel Wednesday, Sarah Jessica Parker looks as fashionable as ever in this strapless little black dress with sweetheart neckline and curling tendrils down the sides to match the curls in her hair. I love how SJP spices up her outfits with just a little touch of color here and there. The blue and purple belts at the waist are very chic, and I love her little lime green clutch. And she even pulled a little fashion trick of wearing tan, skin-toned heels to make her legs appear longer. Sarah Jessica, can you be my personal stylist?

Fashion Blunder: Nicole Kidman at the Aria Awards

By Andrea Thatcher on October 31st, 2007

Nicole%20Kidman_aria%20awards.jpgPoor Nicole! Supporting her husband at the Aria Awards in Sidney, Australia on Sunday, Nicole Kidman looked radiant in a black 3/4-sleeve dress. But what she didn’t realize was that in the bright sunlight, it was completely see-through! The Aussie actress received a boisterous reception by the crowd when she first arrived with Keith Urban, but realizing the real reason for the cheers–they could see right through to her black bra and thong–her publicist rushed over with her coat. But like a true classy starlet, she and her husband found the humor in the situation and burst into giggles together. Later that evening, Keith dedicated his award for Best Country Album to Nicole as his inspiration.

Bargain Pick of the Week: Ruby Rox little black dress

By Andrea Thatcher on September 27th, 2007

Ruby%20Rox%20little%20black%20dress.JPGThis Ruby Rox jewel-detail dress is a great find for the season–just $43.90! The jewel accents are very on trend as far as a touch of shine goes for fall and winter. And I really like the light layering at the bottom–that and the longer cut in the back create elegant appeal. So go ahead, look stunning for those special occasions in this sexy, but classy little black dress.

Nicole Miller stretch satin slipdress

By Andrea Thatcher on September 14th, 2007

nicole%20miller%20dress.jpg
I have about six little black dresses or “LBDs” as I like to call them. I know you only really need one good one but what can I say, I keep finding good ones! I think I’ve found the best so far with this Nicole Miller stretch satin slipdress, available for $330 at Nordstrom. The ruching runs down the center front and back and I absolutely love the square neckline and thin spaghetti straps. This dress also fits like a corset and flatters most figures. I’m going to pair it with a pair of leopard print stilettos for a black-tie optional wedding I have next weekend.
