By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on September 5th, 2008

Part of the fun of fashion shows held outside the tents is getting to see some of the fabulous venues around New York City. (We can’t wait to tell you about the downtown Bumble & Bumble space after Liz McClean later!) But what is with the setting stealing the show? First Lorick’s fabulous sets and then Be EcoChic presents its collection in the Hall of Biodiversity at the American Museum of Natural History.

But, Be EcoChic had celebrity on its side. Who’s going to be looking at the giant whale poised over the runway when Alek Wek is strutting her stuff?

Peaches Geldof at Lorick.jpg

We know we already talked about the Lorick show, but we knew our pals on the other side of the pond would be excited that we glimpsed British television personality Peaches Geldof at the show. She was filming a segment for Nylon TV, so we can expect some coverage of the shows on their site soon!

New York Fashion Week Spring 2009: Lorick

By Andrea Thatcher on September 5th, 2008

It’s hard to separate Lorick, the sweet and sophisticated fashion line of model Abigail Lorick, from Gossip Girl. Especially when Eleanor Waldorf, for whom Lorick is the ghost designer on the show, is walking around.

But the Gossip Girl connection wasn’t the only surreal scene at the installation-style show. Adorable, elaborate sets were conjured up all over the space with models lounging, drinking tea and nibbling on cake, as seen above. The detailed scenes threatened to outshine the clothes until you realized each piece was just as detailed.

Lots more pictures after the jump!

Gossip Girl, New York Fashion Week - Gossip

We know Gossip Girl premieres Monday, but where will the cast be Thursday?

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on August 29th, 2008

Gossip Girl cast.jpg

We’re fully expecting New York’s coolest cast to be all over fashion week to coincide with the press surge surrounding the Gossip Girl season premiere on Monday (we’ve got a sneak peek here).

But Thursday night is presenting something of a quandry. Lorick, the label that doubles as Blair’s Mom’s label on the show, is presenting their collection from 6-8 p.m. and promises that Leighton Meister, Blake Lively and Taylor Momsen will be in attendance.

But, Be EcoChic, whose event starts at 7 p.m., says stars of Gossip Girl will be walking its runway. Since Be EcoChic is the more likely candidate for menswear, we’re guessing the boys and girls have split up for the night.

To choose? Or to wear out our Choos going to both?

Designer Pick of the Week: Lorick

By Andrea Thatcher on December 4th, 2007

Today WWD highlighted a few emerging designers and included Abigail Lorick in their list, so we thought it would be a perfect time to showcase the former T.S. Dixon designer’s first collection. We first wrote about Lorick in October when her fashions were used on Gossip Girl during a fashion-centric episode. We loved the ladylike dresses Blair wore for her mother’s ad campaign and had to share this fun designer with you. You can expect to see many of those designs and the ones on the Lorick Web site this spring at Steven Alan, Caravan and Darling in New York, at Eskell in Chicago and online at Activeendeavors.com, Gargyle.com and revolveclothing.com.

“Gossip Girl” features clothing by Lorick

By Andrea Thatcher on October 12th, 2007

In this past week’s episode of “Gossip Girl,” Blair’s mother Eleanor needed to pick the new model for her clothing line. While the fight between Blair and Serena broke out about who got to be the face of the collection, the clothing stayed proper and polite, feminine, and very pretty. To show this kind of Upper East Side style, “Gossip Girl” producers picked a real New York based label to represent the clothing Eleanor designed. Lorick designer Abigail Lorick’s spring collection was used on “Gossip Girl” to show real Upper East style.
