A teaser of the Louis Vuitton spring 2008

By Andrea Thatcher on December 21st, 2007

Last week Catwalk Queen had three pictures from the Louis Vuitton spring 2008 advertising campaign staring the likes of Naomi Campbell, Eva Herizgova, and Claudia Schiffer. As it turns out, Marc Jacobs had his director friend, Zoe Cassavetes film a ‘making of’ documentary right there on set. Here’s a short teaser Louis Vuitton has released on Style.com – you’ll have to wait until next Friday, December 28 to watch the whole thing.

Natalia Vodianova the new face of Diane Von Furstenberg, and the first in a while

By Andrea Thatcher on December 19th, 2007

Russian beauty Natalia Vodianova is set to become the face of the spring DVF campaign – the first ad campaign the label has run in a while.

The pictures were shot last week in Manhattan by François-Marie Banier. Both model and photographer then attended the Guggenheim’s annual Young Artist’s Ball on Thursday where she told Fashion Week Daily: “Diane is an amazing and gracious woman, and to work with her was a true pleasure”.

“She’s done a lot for American fashion, and she’s just such a style icon. Plus her clothes feel like second skin,” she added. The duo is pictures above at The Naked Heart Foundation Auction And Cocktail Party in 2004.

The former Calvin Klein model will also appear next spring in promotional video for Louis Vuitton joining a bevy of supermodels including Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Stephanie Seymour. Guess she’s getting those three kiddies’ college funds in order. Except her husband is a real-estate heir and the half-brother of a Viscount. Maybe it’s the free clothes.

WWD luxury report – bag popularity contest offers some surprises

By Andrea Thatcher on November 8th, 2007

The annual ranking of handbag brands has been released by WWD today with some surprises. First off, Coach nabs the top spot as the brand luxury consumers are most familiar with, above Louis Vuitton by no small margin. 76% of consumers recognize a Coach bag as compared to 63% who recognize the venerable LV. But just as surprising are the vast differences among the “it” bags which are driving other competitors in the sector. Gucci came in number three and credits the Indy Bag, left, for sales growth. This bag is very traditional and less high-fashion with its logo print, despite a high price tag of $2,350. On the other hand, eighth-ranked Fendi is relying on its rather out-there To You bag, $1,300, which is very interesting but may not appeal to mass consumers.

Get her look for less: Scarlett Johansson in Louis Vuitton

By Andrea Thatcher on October 18th, 2007

Loving the party frock Scarlett Johansson wore to Elle’s 14th Annual Women in Hollywood party? Well, hers was Louis Vuitton and probably costs more than your entire Christmas budget, let alone what you have to spend on a party dress. Our solution? This Maggy London strapless number. It gets the neckline perfect and has a similar waistline – though the lower waistline on the Maggy London dress may actually be more flattering and on trend. You know, just in case you don’t have Scarlett Johansson‘s body. The best part – it’s only $74 and available at Macy’s, Dillards, and Nordstrom stores around the country.

Louis Vuitton, the McDonald’s of world leaders?

By Andrea Thatcher on October 10th, 2007

I was jetsetting back from a whirlwind trip to the Mediterranean last weekend, reading Air France magazine, and who did I see but the new muse of Louis Vuitton Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachev in his much-talked-about Louis Vuitton ad. The ad portrays him as a very distinguished looking older gentleman, which I guess he is. I might have almost missed it, had I not seen the port wine stain on his forehead, as I get my news from Us Magazine rather than U.S. News and World Report. But, in the end he’s not exactly Scarlet Jo! It just goes to show that smart is the new sexy.

Louis Vuitton bubble ring

By Andrea Thatcher on September 4th, 2007

LV%20ring.jpg
I’m not a huge Louis Vuitton fan but this bubble ring definitely caught my attention. The golden U-shaped ring is super delicate and has a tiny monogrammed flower with a Swarovski crystal at the flower’s center that appears to float inside its resin bubbles. I especially adore the U-shape as it doesn’t completely surround your finger for a different ring look.
