It was hardly a glittering star studded red carpet event, but the celebrities who performed and attended last night’s Superbowl XLVI made it an A-list worthy sports event.
Madonna was our celebrity of the night, performing at half time alongside Nicki Minaj. However those hoping to see a little bit of flesh as has become tradition at this event – either purposely or by Janet Jackson accident- would have been disappointed with Madge choosing a short black dress and grey tights to perform.
Nicki Minaj also kept it safe with a patchwork cheerleader style dress and leopard print tights.
Kelly Clarkson added a classic black dress to the performing mix, while over at the stands Meg Ryan went for a leather jacket.

We’re opening up a whole can of fashion worms with our list of the worst dressed celebrities at last night’s Golden Globes. We know some of you won’t agree with our list but some of our fave ladies just didn’t cut it when it came to their frocks last night.
First up is Kelly Osbourne who just didn’t look right in her blue fishtail frock, while Charlize Theron, known for her mistakes on the red carpet, made another faux pas with her short dress and long train.
Michelle William’s blue leopard print dress just didn’t stand out, while Natalie Portman’s ill fitting frock also lands her in our list.

Madonna is a big fan of Duchess Catherine’s style.
The ‘Material Girl’ singer praised Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge for the way she manages to always look elegant, but never stiff or overly formal with her fashion choices.
She told People.com: “She is a lovely girl with a great sense of style. Her wedding dress by Alexander McQueen was very beautiful.
“I like her choices. She’s elegant and still knows how to have some fun. I’m a fan of her style.”
Catherine and Madonna’s fashion sense is so close, they have even been spotted in the same dress – with the former wearing a salmon-pink satin dress by Stella McCartney to a Sunday dinner in Berkshire, southern England, which Madonna had previously donned three years ago at the Cannes film festival.
Speaking this weekend at the premiere of her new film ‘W.E.’ – Madonna’s directorial debut, about the scandal of King Edward VIII, who abdicated from the English throne to marry US divorcee Wallis Simpson – the ‘True Blue’ singer also said she appreciates how the English royal family have relaxed in their attitude since the time when her film was set.
She added: “The freedom that Catherine has and the freedom the royal family has now is nice and is refreshing.
“It’s too bad that Edward VIII didn’t have that same kind of freedom back in 1937 to make his own decisions and to be the prince of the people, which Prince William is allowed to be. I like how modern they are now.”

If you’re looking for inspiration for that Christmas party outfit then this week’s red carpet events will give you just that.
Yesterday a huge host of A-listers turned up on the New Year’s Eve premiere red carpet in a range of frocks. Lea Michele shone in a stunning off-white long frock- perfect for more formal occasions – while Fergie and Hilary Swank went for embellished short numbers, which we think are perfect for that night out on the tiles.
Over on the W.E premiere red carpet Madonna sported the skinny jeans and blazer, which is a perfect alternative for frock fearing ladies, while Chloe Sevigny showed how to vamp up a Christmas party outfit in a red dress.

Madonna’s iconic black bustier has sold at auction for £45,000.
The custom-made piece – created by Los Angeles-based store Trashy Lingerie – was worn with fishnet tights by the singer during her 1987 ‘Who’s That Girl’ tour, and went under the hammer in China for way above its pre-sale estimate of £4,000 to £5,000.
Previously displayed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio and The Frederick’s of Hollywood Museum in Los Angeles, the garment was sold by Beverly Hills-based auctioneers Julien’s Auctions at the Ponte resort in Macau, China, alongside 23 other pieces of Madonna memorabilia.
Among the other items on sale were a signed copy of the star’s risque 1992 ‘Sex’ book and a recording of the song ‘Simon Says’ alongside her band Emmy and the Emmy’s, with the auction drawing in a total of over £62,000.
Darren Julien, owner of Julien’s Auctions, said: “When you’re buying these things, you’re buying a memory.”
The outfit was specially selected for Madonna’s first world tour – which took place 24 years ago – by her stylist and costume designer Martha Stewart.
She said at the time: “The most important ingredients are the crop top, the bare midriff, a hip-hugger skirt or pants and lingerie straps showing under your top.”

“Fashion Police” host Kelly Osbourne has said that she hopes one day to design her own fashion line.
Kelly, who is currently the face of Madonna’s Material Girl fashion line, must have been inspired by Madge and Lourdes’ celebrity venture into the fashion industry, because now she wants to start her own.
When Kelly was recently asked what she’d like to have achieved in ten years, the presenter/journalist/singer/wild-child replied, “That’s hard – I don’t even know where I want to be tomorrow most of the time. I would have loved to have starred in 10 more movies and designed my own fashion line by then.”
Kelly’s got an interesting sense of style which is a cool blend of high-end designer with old vintage and punk styles, so we’d love to see what The Gobby One could come up with. Kelly – this is a challenge. DAZZLE US.

Madonna’s Material Girl is launching a beauty collection.
The fashion label – which the singer designs with her 14-year-old daughter Lourdes – will expand to include a range of nail polish, lipgloss, body sprays and lotions in Macy’s New York next month with eye-shadows following in September and Lourdes loves choosing her favourite products.
She explained to WWD: “It was so much fun getting to pick all of my favourite scents for the Material Girl body products and lip glosses. The body products have fun names like Wicked Watermelon, Flirty Fruit, Midnight Magnolia and Sinful Sugar. I chose scents that I loved.”
Lanie List, chief merchandising officer at Iconix Brand Group – who have partnered with Material Girl on the collection – revealed Lourdes has a “very sophisticated eye” but all choices have to be approved by her mother.
She said: “Lola is 14 but she lives in New York City and has a very famous mom, so she has a very sophisticated eye. Lola is here once a month and sometimes more. She brings stuff from her own closet for inspiration. For the bath and body products she probably had 100 scents in front of her. She has a very mature approach to product development.
“Madonna definitely has creative input also. It’s a collaboration between the two. If Lola goes to a place with an idea that Madonna doesn’t think is appropriate for the brand, she’ll veto it. She’s a branding expert.”

Lady Gaga has “worshipped” Madonna her whole life.
The ‘Edge Of Glory’ hitmaker – whose musical style has been compared to that of the legendary singer – explained she also feels “connected to and inspired by” the likes of Barbra Streisand, Cher and Blondie.
She told The Advocate magazine: “They’re my sisters. I feel so connected to Madonna in a lot of ways, and I feel connected to Barbra, and I feel connected to Cher and Blondie and all of the women who came before me.
“I worshipped them my whole life, and I would never be where I am today without all of them to inspire me. I feel so grateful that I have such strong women to look up to.”
It would appear the feeling is mutual for Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry, who recently praised Lady Gaga for bring a breath of fresh air to the US music scene.
She said: “Gaga is truly talented and slightly mad. I find her encouraging.
“It’s such a conservative period in the US. We have even had attempts at censorship, which I find appalling and terrible. Artists like Gaga are necessary during periods like this.”

Kelly Osbourne’s style has been influenced by Madonna “over the years”.
The 26-year-old star is the face of the ‘Celebration’ hitmaker’s clothing range Material Girl – which was created with her 14-year-old daughter Lourdes – and she admits she loves working on the brand because she has always been a fan of the 52-year-old singer’s fashion sense.
She said: “I’m really enjoying being the face of Material Girl. I love being part of a brand for girls and having the opportunity to work with Lourdes who has an amazing fashion instinct.
“Added to that is the fact that Madonna has been an influence on my style over the years.”
Discussing working with Kelly on the forthcoming MG+NYC collection, Madonna added it had been great.
She said: “We have both enjoyed working with Kelly and are thrilled to have her on board for the launch of the fall 2011 collection.”
The ‘Fashion Police’ presenter previously revealed she loves clothes which fit her frame and is glad to have lost 50lbs in 18 months.
She said: “Because I’m short – and I’m not calling myself fat when I say this, but I’m a rounder girl, I’m not a stick – I wear stuff that fits my curves.
“I’ve always dressed the same but before I wasn’t able to fit into the clothes I wanted to. I just think I’m very me. I’m the girliest tomboy you’ll ever meet.”

Madonna plans to open an orphanage in Malawi.
The ‘Celebration’ singer – who adopted five-year-old son David from the African country in 2006, followed by six-year-old daughter Mercy in 2009 – wants to redouble her efforts to aid orphaned children by opening a new centre as well as giving financial support to current ones.
Speaking in new TV documentary ‘American Revolutionaries: The Hitmakers’, she said: “My short term goals are to build an orphan care centre that will service and reach at least 1,000 children and I’m also actively involved in funding several orphanages that already exist.”
However, Madonna’s aspirations for the country were dealt a blow earlier this year after her plans to build a school for girls were “discontinued”.
The 52-year-old star had pledged to build an academy following her adoption of David in 2006, but the $3.8 million she had put into the project through her charitable foundation Raising Malawi failed to develop into an educational establishment.
Madonna – who also has biological children Lourdes, 14, and 10-year-old Rocco – admitted she was “frustrated” at the development because of the lack of education in the country.
She said in a statement: “There is a real education crisis in Malawi, 67 per cent of girls don’t go to secondary school.
“Our team is going to work hard to address this in every way we can.”

The rumour mill is buzzing this morning with news that stunning starlet Angelina Jolie could be the new face of Louis Vuitton.
The actress is said to be taking on the role, which will net her a record pay check for endorsement – a huge $10 million. It is claimed that Angelina had some help from her friends with the latest ad campaign starring the likes of Freja Beha Erichson, Raquel Zimmermann and Kristen McMemeny.
According to reports from E!, the campaign will be shot by Annie Leibowitz in the next two weeks. She’ll join the likes of Madonna and Jennifer Lopez who have also taken on this role.
We’re actually quite surprised it took this long for the starlet to get a deal like this. Her 50s style reflects the classic nature of Louis Vuitton and her elegant red carpet dresses are also a perfect match to the brand. See the gallery below for a mini style spotlight on Angelina Jolie.
