Oscars 2010 trends: Metallic dresses

There were a few trends at this year’s Oscar awards, notably blue, which was worn by Mariah Carey, Maggie Gyllenhaal and winner Mo’Nique.
Meryl Streep, Diane Kruger and Amanda Seyfried also flew the flag for white.
However, the biggest trend of the year has got to be metallics, which were worn by everyone from Sarah Jessica Parker to Miley Cyrus. These shades came in pale golds, dark golds and also silvers, which were worn by Kate Winslet and Oscar winner and Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow.

Maggie Gyllenhaal was one of the few stars not to pose for a schmaltzy product shot at the Blackberry Bold launch party, and we thank her for it.
Though, actually, she doesn’t seem to excited to have her picture taken at all. C’mon Mags, you’re getting major swag here.
But we have a feeling Maggie, like us, is more interested in fashion. We like how she brought some color into an all-black outfit. Bright yellows and greens can seem springy, but she pulls of a fall look well.

Varied hemlines heated up the red carpet at the premiere of “The Dark Knight” in New York.
Unsurprisingly, Blake Lively showed the most leg in a Mary-Kate-esque silk romper. As is usually the case with one piece sets like this, the fit seems a little off. They’re always either too skin tight or baggy in the wrong places. Having a perfect body like Blake’s helps you pull it off, though.

Calvin Klein New Museum party – Ashley Olsen, Margherita Missoni and co.

Wednesday night’s grand reopening of the New Museum in New York, hosted by Calvin Klein, drew a fashionable crowd including Julianne Moore and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Margherita Missoni looked ravishing in a floor-length white dress and beads. Meanwhile, all eyes were on Ashley Olsen who came and left before Lance Armstrong (whom she has recently been linked to) had even arrived. Other stars spotted on the dance floor were several cast members Gossip Girl.
