Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2012
It is undisputable that Mr Marc Jacobs is the king of fashion right now. With his own hugely successful self-titled lines, as well as creative directorship at Louis Vuitton and rumours that he may also be taking over Dior, he’s got a finger in every one of the yummiest fashion pies right now.
Yesterday’s Marc for Marc Jacobs show at NYFW was one of the hottest tickets around – it always is – and the Tattooed One didn’t let us down with a cool collection of sportswear-inspired casual pieces. Each piece was beautifully simple with a modern, clean feel to it that reminds us of European designers such as Jil Sander, mixing utilitarian slate-greys with little splashes of Crayola colour here and there for a playful twist.
There was a clear “boyfriend” vibe about the collection as Jacobs had opted for masculine, simple styles that when worn looked like they might have been pinched from a fashionable boyfriend’s wardrobe. From crisp, oversized shirt dresses to pink-and-white striped short suits, it seemed to us to be a very masculine take on casual womenswear.
Our favourite thing about the collection were the accessories – Monsieur Jacobs is, after all, the king of accessory design – fresh 90s-style hi-top trainers in childish, primary colours which added a carefree twist to some of the more austere-looking designs.
Viva Marc! Check out the gallery above to see the new Marc for Marc Jacobs collection.

Ad campaigns, Designer Fashions
By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on January 5th, 2009

Catwalk Queen‘s Kelly McAuliffe writes…
The first photo from the Daisy Lowe ad campaign for Marc by Marc Jacobs is now doing the rounds on the old internet (and is also highly likely to feature in a glossy mag near you) and so, of course, we had to have a nosy ourselves. Miss Lowe is putting her seductive Agent Provacateur modelling experience to good use in the snap, where she is clad in an ivory dress and heavy eyeliner while sprawled out on a bed decked in white linen.
Reviews have been mixed judging by the comments on The Fashion Spot forums, with some liking the minimalism of the Juergen Teller-shot campaign, and others disappointed the ads don’t spark the same sense of fun as past ads featuring M.I.A (for M by MJ) and possibly most famously, Victoria Beckham for mainline Marc Jacobs. I’m firmly on the fence with this one for some reason – I can’t seem to dredge up any feelings either way. But what do you think?

Bargain POTW, Handbags
By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on October 2nd, 2008

This one requires a stretch of some people’s definition of “bargain,” but everyone wants a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag.
With zipper details and a turnlock closure, the Rudy Totally Turlock Shoulder Bucket is on-trend for fall, and is on sale for $179 down from $250.
Even with these trendy details, the bucket silhouette is one you’ll carry forever and the name is one that will still be meaningful five years from now.
What more could you ask of the Barneys sale?

I’m on the search for an Easter outfit, so if you’ll be celebrating Easter, Passover, or just the beginning of spring soon, I’ll be bringing you plenty of wardrobe options!
Like this Marc by Marc Jacobs Sabrina sateen double dress, on sale for $195.
I’ll never say no to a Audrey Hepburn reference, especially not when it’s a two-in-one tank and dress combo. It’s always nice to get a little styling assistance from ol’ MJ.

Marc Jacobs had the fashion crowd schlepping their way downtown to the New York State Armory for his Marc by Marc Jacobs show this afternoon, but it was definitely worth the trip. I’ve always preferred this line to the collection, because I really enjoy the more accessible, wearable pieces Jacobs creates. His fall 08 runway was full of preppy-punk looks – lots of plaid and houndstooth in a palette of blacks and greys infused with bright pink, blue, and yellow. There were plenty of new It bag contenders, both large and small, and some fantastic shoes as well.
Spotted: Rachel Zoe, Hillary Alexander, Carine Roitfeld, Fergie and countless NY socialites.
Keep reading for a video and more pics.

This Marc by Marc Jacobs link watch would make a really cute everyday staple with style. For only $175 you get a cute watch and don’t even have to turn the face inward on your wrist so fashionistas can’t see the brand (remember Andy in The Devil Wears Prada?). I would wear this to work, shopping, travelling and more.

The IT bags this season have lots of stud detail and patent leather and metallic shine. Especially big are the medium-sized satchel and over-sized clutch. This Kathy Van Zeeland satchel (left) from her Bling It On II collection is designed with croco and rhinestone accents for ultimate shimmer–perfect for day or night for just $79.00. Or, get the sassy downtown look with a GUESS “Gloss” hobo bag (left-center), jam-packed with lustrous hardware and glossy imitation ostrich trim for $85.00. For a more classic look, Elliot Lucca also makes a great Status metallic woven hobo bag (right-center) for $198.00. But if you want to go all out, then I recommend this gorgeous Isabella Fiore Pump Up The Volume pewter satchel (right) for $650. Its dark silver leather, antique silver hardware, twisted top handles, and pom-pom detail make a fablously chic style statement. Go to the jump for our top over-sized clutch picks.

It seems you can officially wear a drop-waist dress when you’re not dressed up as a 20′s flapper, as designers have been updating the style for a few seasons now and have really got the knack of it. We’ve chosen our favorites of the bunch to punch up your late-summer wardrobe and provide layering pieces for fall. Details after the jump.

Contests and Giveaways, Designer Fashions, High End Department Stores, New Fashions

Check out the new fall fashions from MARC by Marc Jacobs on NeimanMarcus.com and you can enter to win a $1,500 shopping spree. Don’t be fooled, no purchase is necessary, click on the fine print at the bottom of the page to enter the contest. Also check out their exclusive video. It’s basically a moving catalog with a few attempts at arty touches, but it’s definitely worth while to see how a garment – like the multi-print jersey dress above, $328 - moves and looks “in person” rather than just a still photograph.
