Matthew Williamson has been given the opportunity to showcase his new collection specially inside the Tate Modern during London Fashion Week (yes, it’s nearly here again, guys!)
This has never been done before, so it’s going to be a bit of a unique fashion happening. A member of Williamson’s team told Vogue: “For our spring/summer 2012 collection we have chosen to show in the turbine hall inside the Tate modern gallery on the Southbank. It’s the first time a designer has been able to show in this iconic London landmark building and we are thrilled to have this opportunity.”
Matthew said about his Tate plans: It’s an amazing space which I feel will contrast really well with the collection. I’m looking forward to creating an intimate space within the hall and seeing the intricately detailed clothes work against the stark, minimalist structure.”
Whether you have the time of day for modern art or not (I don’t at all) we think you’ll all be able to find the time for some beautiful Matthew Williamson dresses, no?

Leopard Bubble Sleeve Belted Coat
How gorgeous is this leopard-printed dress coat? We love the clear vintage and sixties inspirations.
It’s time to get your emergency credit card out, girls, because today British design genius Matthew Williamson has finally unveiled his first diffusion line, MW, on My-Wardrobe.com today. When we say affordable it’s still really quite expensive, but sshhh, it’s still very exciting and I’m quite tempted to go without food for a month to get my mitts onto one of the collection’s pieces.
So far there are only three pieces available on the site but we’ve heard tell that more will be added soon, as there will also be jewellery as part of the collection with prices starting at £98. We’re already impressed and excited with what we’ve seen – I’m completely obsessed with the MW leopard-printed bubble coat, which reminds me of sixties It girls such as Edie Sedgwick.
If you feel like blowing a load of money on something really special today I’d recommend checking it out, and keep looking back to check for more pieces being added. Want to shop the collection? Find it here.

Matthew Williamson’s collections are inspired by “global cultural references”.
The British designer – who recently created a new line for high street store Debenhams – is influenced by art he has seen across the world and based his latest work on a piece by an artist who mixed manmade materials with nature.
He said: “One reoccurring feature – that clearly defines my brand is the use of global cultural references. For my last mainline collection I was inspired by a Russian artist, Francisco Infante-Arana, who created mirrored sculptures in wilderness landscapes.
“I love the combination of nature and synthetics and I tend to play with this juxtaposition in my colour palette, fabrics and embellishments.”
Matthew – who has also recently supported children’s charity NSPCC by designing T-Shirts for children to raise funds – is glad to be able to bring his creations to the high street so everyone can afford to wear his clothes.
He told Britain’s OK! magazine: “I support the underlying concept behind Debenhams designer collections, which is to make high-end fashion accessible to style-conscious shoppers, no matter what their budget might be.”

London fashion week
By Andrea Petrou on September 20th, 2010
Matthew Williamson’s catwalk shows are one of the most anticipated at London Fashion Week, and his SS2011 collection, named Urban Bohemian, didn’t disappoint.
Walking down the catwalk to an apt Summertime remix, models displayed soft summer fabrics including chiffon, tulle and lace in pale pastels, and of course florals and stripes.
Shapes were loose yet feminine and ruffles made up part of the collection.
Williamson also gave a nod to the 60s with vintage baby doll dresses as well as asymmetric
flowing frocks.
There were also some serious tailored trousers cut to flatter all figures which were just waiting to be snapped up for their rails. However our favourite piece of the day has got to be the peacock feathered sequin skirt. We really hope buyers take note and create something similar for next summer.

Celebrity Style, London fashion week
By Andrea Petrou on September 20th, 2010
It was a weekend of air kisses, heels and of course fashion as celebs turned up for numerous shows at London Fashion Week.
Black dresses and tights were the chosen outfits for Agy Deyn and Lily Allen who turned up to support Henry Holland’s show, while Pixie Geldof went for her trademark stripe dress and tights for the same event.
Paloma Faith also opted for a rather toned down black frock and tights (we’re seeing a trend here) for the PPQ show, while Pamela Anderson went all out in a multicoloured sheer frock for the Vivienne Westwood show.
Matthew Williamson also, as expected, attracted a few celebrities with Cat Deeley (who opted for thigh high boots and a tasselled top) and Sienna Miller (who went for black jeans and beige shoes) and Julain Macdonald was supported by the likes of Elle Macpherson – in trademark black and Rachel Stevens who showed off her baby bump in a cute leopard print frock.
See the gallery below for all the star style and keep reading for our catwalk highlights.

Trend Alert
By Andrea Petrou on June 8th, 2010
Playsuits and Jumpsuits are all over the highstreet and on celebrities who have been snapped wearing them on days out (Kelly Rowland) or at events (Tamzin Outhwaite at the TV Baftas).
And as the summer season kicks in there’s a huge range to choose from. Miss Selfridge has a range of cute floral playsuits while River Island gives a nod to the nautical theme with its playsuit range. Then there is the bargain jumpsuits and playsuit rangefrom Matalan or the uber expensive Matthew Williamson jumpsuit that we’ve fallen in love with.
Take a look at our favourites in the gallery below.

With the wait for the Sex and the City 2 film nearly over many companies are beginning to make a big song and dance about it introducing jewellery, clothing and other accessories to tie in with the launch.
Debenhams however has gone one step further. The retail store has announced that it is the official retail partner of the film.
To celebrate, the highstreet store put together a fashion shoot in the Amanjeena Hotel, in Marakesh, Morocco, where the actual movie was shot. Hundreds of girls were interviewed to find four “doubles” for Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte and were dressed in the style of each character from Debenhams designers including Julien Macdonald and Matthew Williamson.
And it’s good news for SATC fashion girls because all the clothing will be available to buy in time for the film’s debut on 28 May.
But the good news doesn’t end there because four lucky customers will also win a trip to New York in conjunction with SATC 2. The prize includes flights and hotel accommodation for four people (one winner and three friends) and $1000 spending money.

Department Stores, Designer collaborations
By alanamcverry on April 20th, 2010
Well known for his flowing bohemian influenced brightly coloured garments, but not so bohemian prices; Matthew Williamson cuts the hefty price tag and offers us high street shoppers something of his, for much less. His new range for Debenhams enters stores this week taking its name “Butterfly” from an inspirational painting he saw in Rajasthan in 1997, and this Indian influence emerges strongly in the assortment on offer.
The collection houses all one will need to embrace the summer months, from light coloured summer dresses, brightly flowing skirts to exotic looking bikinis. And if you’re willing to pay the maximum price of £120, you can get yourself a maxi dress emblazoned with Williamson’s signature style of vibrant prints. The majority of the items are labelled coral, embroidered, kaftan or tunic, so if the ‘I’ve travelled to far off lands’ look isn’t your thing, and your more comfortable in a pencil skirt and twin set, then this probably isn’t the collection for you. If you are, however, desperate to own a piece of Matthews then the charcoal grey satin dress at £50 is simple, stylish and there’s no pattern in sight.
It’s a particularly large collection, especially in the accessories department with many different items of jewellery, bags, purses, belts and other highly detailed pieces to choose from. Definitely worth a look even if you think at first it’s not your style, you could always buy something and sell it on ebayfor a profitable margin, should you decide it disagrees with you. Given it will surely sell out, the rules of supply and demand are ultimately working in your favour. Finally, if you like the butterfly motif there are also a number of butterflies adorning many of the items. It’s nice when things do what they say.

Get ready for weird and wacky sunnies ladies
If the rumour mill is to be believed Lady Gaga will be desgining a range of these and we know they aren’t going to be sensible.
According to WWD the singer, who wore sunglasses made from rows of lit cigarettes in her “Telephone” video, is said to be in talks with London designer Linda Farrow about collaborating on designs.
Now we’re not sure how true this rumour is but we’ve done a bit of detective work and the clues all seem to hint that there could be some truth in the story. Lady G has said she wants to launch a fashion line of her own “at some point.”
And Linda Farrow is no stranger to working with celebs. Last month she launched sunglasses designed by singer Róisín Murphy last month, and has created sunglasses for designers including Alexander Wang, Matthew Williamson and Dries Van Noten.
Watch this space girls.

London fashion week

Celebrities turned out in their droves today to watch Matthew Williamson’s offerings for autumn/winter 2010.
Yasmin Le Bon and Sienna Miller, looking gorgeous, took the front seat alongside friend Twiggy to watch the designers show, which consisted of fur, silks, leather, beads and wool.
Structured wool dresses made an appearance on the runway as well as fun bright skirts
cape-style tops and gilets.
And the designers smarter collections such as tapered trousers, bolero jackets and just over the knee and evening dresses also made an impact consisting of sparkling and glittery fabrics topped with beading.
But the show wasn’t all glitz and glam with Mr Williamson reintroducing his graphic prints as well as mixing colours we wouldn’t have even thought about including salmon pink.
We’ll be bringing you pictures as we get them.

It seems Lady Gaga will have something to smile about this Valentine’s Day if rumours that she’s back with her ex, designer Matthew Williamson are to believed.
According to InStyle magazine the the kooky singer and her style collaborator and “best friend” have grown increasingly close in the last few months and rekindled their relationship.
The pair previously dated for over a year, but called it off when mixing business and pleasure became too tricky. After they went their separate ways, GaGa dated an entrepreneur named Speedy whilst Matthew became a father in a new relationship. However, neither romance lasted and the pair are now said to be ‘reminiscing’ during GaGa’s Monster Ball tour.
A source told the magazine: “They spend all their time together, and travel everywhere, so it was bound to happen. Speedy dumped her, and Matthew left his girlfriend for Gaga.”
And it’s not just love, it also seems Matthew has been a huge style inspiration to Miss G, coming up with her infamous ‘hair bow’ hair style.
Perhaps Lady G has finally found her style mate.

Gallery, New York Fashion Week - Runway

Blogged by our sister site, Catwalk Queen…
Many were thanking Matthew Williamson today who, besides Marc Jacobs, gave us a break from the safeness of black and clumpy clothes with a burst of multi-color print and texture. As part of Team British Invasion, Williamson dazzled crowds with a mixture of shimmery beads, zigzag knits, ruffled cocktail dresses, skinny leather trousers, fur-trimmed shaped coats and sequinned gowns. A nod to his Pucci days came in the form of geometric-shaped prints, which featured in everything from column dresses to shiny suits, and worn with zebra cut-out ankle sandals. Although he did get a little carried away at times, overall I can see how many (especially New Yorkers) might flock to this collection for a touch of uptown society style.

It might not be the whole collection, but we still thought you’d be as excited as us to see this photo, which shows model Veronika Fasinova cosying up to Matthew Williamson in the first frock to emerge as part of his highly anticipated H&M collaboration, which hits stores on April 23rd.
Keep reading for another snap of the designer with H&M’s Margareta van den Bosch and what we hope is another fabulous print from the range…
