Mischa Barton refuses to spend lots of money on a trendy handbag.
The actress – who has her own line of bags – says she doesn’t see the point in splashing out on a “handbag-of-the moment” and would rather save her cash for a classic item.
She said: “I think handbags are a great area to work in because you can do anything with them. They can really change an outfit. You always look at girls’ bags and you don’t want to spend a fortune on them. You want them to be functional, have pockets and work, but you don’t want it to be a piece of c**p. I don’t want to spend a fortune on crazy of-the-moment handbags. If it’s going to cost me like $600 to get a handbag of-the-moment then I’m probably not even going to bother to do it. I just have my classics that I like.”
Mischa believes the success of her handbag line is due to the fact a lot of the pieces are stylish yet affordable.
She told online blog Zap2it: “I think what really works for them is that we’re really able to keep the price point quite low, but still funky and cool. Some of them are not supposed to last forever. They’re more like fun bags, and then we have the more serious ones. We’ve been working on the proper like, doctor bags, the ones that do last a long time.”
Oh dear, these celebrities don’t have any qualms about saying what they think. And it seems Mischa Barton’s outspoken concerns about her new pal’s Amy Winehouse’s drinking have led the pair to end their very short friendship.
According to The Sun, Mischa who may be moving back to the UK permanently to settle down with boyfriend Ali Love, was catching up with new pal Amy at Camden celebrity hangout, the Hawley Arms.
However, the pair came to blows after Mischa, who is newly teetotal and stuck to tonic water all evening, tried to curb Amy’s drinking telling her that she’d had enough for the evening.
And it seems the comment was enough to spark an angry confrontation between the pair.
The Sun source said: “Obviously she [Amy] was drunk and didn’t take it well, she yelled at Mischa that it was none of her business and her mate told her to leave it.”
The pair may have fallen out over alcohol but who do you think is the most stylish off the two? Is it Amy with her trademark ballet pumps and sometimes scruffy style or is it Mischa who too favours the scruffy look but also goes for glam in vintage dresses and tops?

A range of celebrities dressed up and hit Harvey Nichols last night to celebrate the launch of Marc Jacob’s new men’s fragrance, Bang.
Mischa Barton used the opportunity to make a comeback on the celebrity circuit showing off her slim figure in a black and beige halter dress and leather biker jacket, which she accessorised with a Channel bag. She was joined by pint sized Jamie Winstone who gave a nod to the summer boho trend with a bright orange 70s frock.
Pixie Lott played it safe with a black frock, which she teamed up with her trademark biker boots, while rival popstar Diana Vickers went for bright and beautiful in an on-trend turquoise frock.
Speaking about the inspiration behind Bang, Marc Jacobs said: “The name came to me first. We had been approached by Coty to do another men’s scent – we did one many years ago – and I was in the gym, and the name Bang came to me.
“As a word, it has so many connotations, including a sexual connotation. And I loved the immediacy and the sound of the word.”

Day 9 of the Cannes Film Festival saw A-listers dressing up in the name of charity for the AmfArRs Cinema Against AIDS benefit gala at the Hotel du Cap.
And it was a night of sophisticated designer dresses. Diane Kruger, Rachel Bilson and Kirsten Dunst went for glam in Chanel dresses while Michelle Williams went for short and daring in a sequined dress by Sonia Rykiel.
Paris Hilton also turned up in a white bridal inspired number. However our best dressed starlets of the night have to be Kate Beckinsale, who looked amazing in a silver gown by Armani Prive and Emily Blunt who wowed us in a simple red dress.

I often find it quite daunting how preened some people seem to look every time they leave the house. Living in London, time is precious, and so even painting my nails is a huge deal for me that happens on special occasions only. So as if to to say, it’s OK we’re all the same, Mischa Barton stepped out yesterday without the glossy finish we’re used to seeing. Whilst walking to her car she looked a little tired, a little washed out and a little like she got dressed in the dark. But not even a hat or a pair of sunglasses to hide herself from the paparrazi predators. She appears smiling, looking at the camera and showing that she just doesn’t care. But wait, look at the vintage electric blue rolls royce she’s getting into. When you have a car like that, who needs make-up, I’d be smiling too.
We’re not going to rabbit on about how much we love online shopping because if you’re a regular reader you’ll know how passionate we are about it.
However, what we will be talking about, at least until the weekend, is the fantastic news that Tesco has added fashion to its huge online range.
From today we can pick up the supermarket’s well known clothing brands such as the gorgeous Florence and Fred and Liquorish, while filling up our kitchen cupboards.
We love this gorgeous satin skirt with a flattering side pleat and for £40 it’s a definite must have for your winter wardrobe.
Just make sure you don’t mistakenly pack these clothes away with your fridge stuff. They may look good enough to eat, but we think they’d look much better on.
Now we’re pleased to see that Mischa Barton is looking healthier after her recent stint in a psychiatric hospital, and she’s most definitely making the most of it, with this sheer dress, minus a bra.
This takes me back to the days; well it must have been at least ten years ago, that the bra under a sheer top was the fashion must have.
I remember trying to sneak out of the house with my mother following me close behind waving a camisole (yes she called it that) and telling me to put it on to hide my modesty.
Now although this fashion has clung on by a sheer thread over the past few years, with designers always introducing at least one bra flashing garment, it seems that it’s getting bigger again.
Only recently were celebrities including Louise Redknapp and Victoria Beckham being snapped left right and centre flashing their bras. But does this look really say sophistication or do we risk making a boob of ourselves? Tell us what you think by voting below.
Mischa Barton has been admitted to hospital after police were called to her home in L.A. on Wednesday to attend to a “medical issue.”
The actress/handbag designer was placed under Section 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold (the same code that Britney Spears was held under in January last year) before being transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Barton’s rep confirmed that the star will not be attending the world premiere of her new film, Homecoming, Thursday night but refrained on commenting further. She was due to fly into New York Wednesday evening for the premiere and a photo-shoot.
The CW network has released its fall television schedule, and it’s looking good. Not only am I embarrassingly excited to see Vampire Diaries (I blame Twilight), I’m also quite keen to check out Mischa Barton’s latest show, The Beautiful Life. Centred around the lives of a bunch of models living in New York, it also stars Elle Macpherson and is produced by Ashton Kutcher. Check out a preview of the show above, which also features Zac Posen playing himself.
ALSO, see a sneak peek of the new Melrose Place remake, starring Ashlee Simpson, after the jump…
Everyone loves a bit of Eighties rock ‘n’ roll and that’s why we *heart* Miss Sixty. The front row was adorned with young starlets including Mischa Barton, Kristen Bell and Minka Kelly – which gave you enough of a hint at who this line is targeting. Models thumped down the runway in shoulder pads (yup, really!), magazine-print jumpsuits, tough leather jackets, and too-tight-for-words acid wash jeans. Leggings were virtually painted on the models’ legs in loud prints and for a bit of warmth they were matched with fluffy wraps and coats. But keep your eyes peeled for the shoulder pads – srsly!
Dita Von Teese and Mischa Barton celebrate Elie Saab’s Spring 2009 Haute Couture collection with the designer. You can read about the confectionary collection at the link above. While we find Von Teese’s hair and makeup a bit harsh, her black ensemble is perfection. Mischa Barton’s short, one-sleeved gown and over-the-shoulder hairstyle looked most glamorous while seated on the runway, as you can see after the jump.

If you’re about to sit front row at the Dior Couture show , it’s a given that you’ll wear (or borrow) some gorgeous Dior to wear while doing it. That’s exactly what devoted Dior fan Dita Von Teese and clothes horse Mischa Barton did in Paris yesterday…
Don’t think we haven’t noticed the little nip in the air, even as we’re reporting on Spring 09 fashion weeks. The day is not far off when you need to slip into a chic little coat or sweater, and we’re showing you some cute options from Miss Me.
We first discovered this brand when Mischa Barton checked out their MMCouture line over the summer, and were very excited to get our hands on the fall lookbook.
Mischa Barton stopped in the Miss Me showroom this week checking out their MM Couture by Miss Me Holiday 2008 collection.
The red one-shoulder dress, $115, will be available September 30.
“Wow … this dress is gorgeous. I will totally wear this alone or with leggings underneath,” Barton said. “I can’t believe I’m shopping for cold weather already! I’m not ready for it!”
If you’ve been missing Mischa Barton lately, what with her lack of actual acting projects, here is a little snippet to keep you sated. There’s plenty of possible moodiness, definite nervousness and droopy, bored Marissa eyes to make you reminiscent for the O.C.
