Fashion Crush: Blue Rose Jacquared Hoodie
I don’t know about you but I always freeze at this time of year, and it doesn’t help that I have a temperamental heating system either. Like many of you after been smart and in heels all day all I want to do is stick on a hoodie to keep myself warm when I get home.
However, being a little bit too obsessed with fashion, I can’t quite bring myself to throw on an old one lurking in the back of my wardrobe… after all you never know who’s going to pop in.
Thankfully, Miss Selfridge seems to have read my mind and has designed a cute jacquared rose hoodie meaning I’ll stay bang on-trend as well as keeping warm. And it carries on the fashion love with the cute puff sleeves and pockets.
A perfect way to keep warm and stay cool.
Fashion Crush: Red vintage style dress from Miss Selfridge
We’re flitting in and out of seasons with our fashion crush posts this week and today we’re back in our AW 2010 mode. After all, who can resist this cute frock from Miss Selfridge?
The dress looks like an authentic vintage number with the 50s bow and cut, and the sleeves are perfect for those winter nights.
Wear it to a late summer BBQ, on a night out with Mary Jane or platform heels, or store in your wardrobe for those windy autumn days.
However, don’t wait too long to snap this up, at £28 we have a feeling it’ll be flying off those rails.
Trend alert: Our top 5 Jumpsuits and playsuits
Playsuits and Jumpsuits are all over the highstreet and on celebrities who have been snapped wearing them on days out (Kelly Rowland) or at events (Tamzin Outhwaite at the TV Baftas).
And as the summer season kicks in there’s a huge range to choose from. Miss Selfridge has a range of cute floral playsuits while River Island gives a nod to the nautical theme with its playsuit range. Then there is the bargain jumpsuits and playsuit rangefrom Matalan or the uber expensive Matthew Williamson jumpsuit that we’ve fallen in love with.
Take a look at our favourites in the gallery below.
Trend Alert: Beach Bikinis
The sun is shining and many of you are probably counting down to that summer beach holiday.
And with the spring/summer season fashion in full flow there’s a huge amount of swimwear out there to suit all kind of shapes.
Many stores such as Miss Selfridge and Oasis also offer separates for ladies with smaller or bigger upper halves and Ultimo is also a great place for those out there that have been blessed with bigger busts. On the other end of the spectrum some highstreet stores also cater for sporty type figures offering padded cups and different tops to really enhance what we’ve been blessed with.
And there’s also great alternatives for those who don’t feel comfortable in flashing their tum or who aren’t too keen on wearing briefs.
Over the next few weeks we’ll be bringing you different ranges for different figures and tastes but to kick start the swimwear style we’ve put together a gallery of on-trend bikinis so you can really make an entrance to the pool or the beach.
Fashion Crush: Miss Selfridge Rosemary Floral Maxi Dress
Maxi dresses are going to be as hot as our predicted summer this season, with many celebs channelling this trend already.
The best thing about a maxi dress is that it can be worn on nearly every occasion from work, to a bar to a summer BBQ. All you need to do is make sure toy have the right accessories and shoes to tone it up or down accordingly.
If you’re a taller than average lady Long Tall Sally and Miss Sixty are perfect places to look, while petite sections in highstreet stores are perfect for smaller girls.
However, this Rosemary Floral Maxi dress from Miss Selfridge is perfect for those of avarage height. We love it because it’s got a slight Cath Kidston feel to it as well as giving a nod to the boho look. Wear to a pub or swing it delicately over your legs for a picnic in the park. And you can’t grumble at the £25 price tag either.
Fashion Crush: Miss Selfridge floral skirt
We’ve done a shorts gallery to celebrate summer’s arrival this weekend, however we know some of you will be more prone to a skirt, especially if you intend to make the most of this weekend’s summer nights.
While we were on our shorts search we stumbled upon this gorgeous floral bow skirt from Miss Selfridge, which gives a huge nod to the floral trend and is also perfect teamed up with a pair of wedges or gladiator style heels for a night out.
Tuck in a black or hot pink vest top or tee and you’re all set to party.
We think it’s a summer steal for £28 too.
Gallery: World Cup fashion to support England in style
Love it or loathe it you can’t hide from the fact that the World Cup is upon us. We know we’re going to lose our other halves to beer, England and Brazil, but instead of sulking in the corner it may be time we actually thought about joining in.
Now we’re not talking about getting all lager loutish, more having a good look at players and using it as an excuse to get some new clothes.
Over the past few months highstreet chains such as Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge as well as supermarkets such as Asda have gone World Cup crazy producing t-shirts with England logos.
However unlike the older styles from four years back, these World Cup gems have become alot less subtle, huge England flags sprawled along the front have given way to subtle England motifs on on-trend styles.
We have a look at the best ones out there.
Miss Selfridge launches Alice in Wonderland t-shirts and vests
It’s all gone a bit fantasy like here at ShinyStyle today, with more and more news pouring in about Alice in Wonderland.
And although we’ve already put together a gallery of kooky Alice accessories we couldn’t resist telling you about a new clothing range being launched by Miss Selfridge.
The highstreet store has teamed up with Disney to bring us a 5 piece collection of vests and t-shirts each with different illustrations of the film. These include the Cheshire Cat, Queen of hearts and an “I’m late. I’m late rabbit vest.
We’ll also be bringing you a round-up of Alice in Wonderland t-shirts tomorrow.
Miss Selfridge to launch Gossip Girl collection
Gossip Girl fans should start saving their clothing allowance from now.
Why? Because Miss Selfridge has announced it will be creating a line of clothing inspired by Gossip Girl designer Eric Daman.
The collection will be based on the four female lead characters: Serena van der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, Jenny Humphrey and Vanessa Abrams and will include will include a leopard print boho maxi dress, a ruffle front shift dress with a floral skirt and a nude and black lace tutu-style skirt.
Yasmin Yusuf, creative director of Miss Selfridge, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Warner Bros television series, Gossip Girl.
“The dresses we’ve created based on the characters fit perfectly with our spring/summer 2010 range. Our customers love the show and the styles of the girls, so the partnership is a perfect match.”
The range hits Miss Selfridge stores at the end of April and prices begin at £39.
Christmas party outfits: Tops
The top is the unsung hero of the party outfit. While dresses and shoes get all the attention, tops are working just as hard to make you look good this Christmas, so we’ve put together this gallery of party-ready tops.
Buying one party top means you can rewear it in loads of different ways without losing the impact. They’re also a good and usually cheap way to update your wardrobe, without having to buy a whole new outfit. As always, sequins, lace and classic (but dramatic) black are things to look out for, and try pairing these tops with miniskirts, leggings or jeans – the possibilities are almost endless.

Gallery: Strictly Come Dancing-inspired clothes for the party season
Some watch Strictly for the dance moves – and some watch it for the dresses. We probably watch it for both, but the dresses are pretty spectacular. Custom made and often in eye-popping bright colours, each dress worn by the female dancers is sold after the series for up to £1,600. If you fancy wowing fellow party-goers in the upcoming Christmas party season why not take some inspiration from the series.
Look out for features like cut-outs, full skirts, asymmetry, corsages, feathers and sequins, just not all at once. We’ve put together a gallery of the whole range of looks, from full-on glamour to slightly more toned-down styles.

Gallery: The Ultimate Winter Coats for 2009 – all under £200
The weather has definitely made a turn for the worse in the last few weeks, and we think that means one thing – time to buy a new winter coat. It’s one of the most important parts of your winter wardrobe, so choose carefully, because getting your coat wrong means regretting it til spring.
The high-street is featuring a pretty wide range of styles – from duffle coats to crombies, leopard print to hot pink. Go for a classic look or try something really on-trend – all these coats are under £200. Check out our picks of the most fashionable (and cosy) coats out there.
