Gisele Bundchen has been confirmed as the new face of Givenchy.

By Andrea Petrou on December 21st, 2011

Gisele Bundchen has been confirmed as the new face of Givenchy.

The Brazilian supermodel appears in the latest campaign for the French fashion house, confirming months of rumours she was taking over from Mariacarla Boscono.

Gisele’s first ad is in “the expression of a love story between a surfer and a mermaid” and she stars alongside two male models (Chris Moore and Simone Nobili) in a gothic, beach-side spread with big, black surfboards.

Earlier this year, Gisele was named the world’s top earning model for the seventh year.

The 31-year-old beauty has topped the list, compiled by Forbes.com, since 2004, but this year saw her income increase by a huge $20 million to earn $45million over one year.

Proof of Gisele’s star status enhancing brands is easy to find, as after becoming the face of hair care brand Pantene in March 2010, the company’s sales went up by 40 per cent in Latin America.

Heidi Klum – who earned $20 million through her recent partnership with website Amazon.com and launching her own clothing line with sportswear brand New Balance – came second followed by Kate Moss in third.

Georgia May Jagger loves using baby skincare ranges

By Andrea Petrou on December 6th, 2011

Georgia Jagger likes to use baby products on her skin.

The 19-year-old model – who is the daughter of rocker Sir Mick Jagger and model Jerry Hall – prefers natural face washes and creams so thinks those suited for newborn skin are ideal, particularly as they are usually so inexpensive.

She said: “I like beauty products to be quite natural, so I tend to use baby ones such as California Baby’s Super Sensitive Shampoo & Body Wash. It’s cheap and doesn’t have any nasty stuff in it.”

The beauty often looks to her mother for inspiration, and says some of her best tips come from the Texan star.

She added in an interview with Marie Claire magazine: “Ever since I was little, mum has stressed the importance of sleep and drinking lots of water. It’s really simple so they’re probably my top two beauty rules – that and to laugh a lot, because everyone looks better when they laugh.

“My sister Lizzie and I have inherited our mother’s love of a red lip – all three of us wear it as our fail-safe evening look. A good tip I picked up is to put some clear lip balm on your teeth to stop the lipstick coming off on them.”

Miranda Kerr says she’s “equal” to other models

By Andrea Petrou on November 30th, 2011

Miranda Kerr says she’s “equal” to other models.

The Australian beauty admits when she first saw other Victoria’s Secret models such as Heidi Klum and Gisele Bundchen she felt quite under-confident in her ability but now knows she can hold her own.

She told New York Magazine: “I just remember, like, the first time I met Adriana (Lima), she was so beautiful. I was like, ‘Why would they want me? I mean, look at her. She’s incredible.’ And then I met Heidi and Gisele and I was like, ‘What am I doing here?’

“But now I always see myself as, like, equal to everyone.”

Miranda – who has a 10-month-old son, Flynn, with husband Orlando Bloom – also revealed how it’s important for women to feel confident in themselves, no matter who they are standing next to.

She said: “I can’t feel bad about being who I am, just like the girl next to me can’t feel bad about being who she is. Because a rose can never be a sunflower, and a sunflower can never be a rose.”

“I want to encourage women to embrace their own uniqueness. Because just like a rose is beautiful, so is a sunflower, so is a peony. I mean, all flowers are beautiful in their own way, and that’s like women too.”

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was an “Ugly Betty” as a teenager

By Andrea Petrou on November 23rd, 2011

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was an “Ugly Betty” as a teenager.

The 24-year-old British beauty is widely considered to be one of the sexiest women in the world but when she was growing up she admits she resembled the spectacle and brace wearing character Betty Suarez from the TV series.

Speaking in the new issue of America’s Harper’s Bazaar magazine, she said: “I was a bit of an Ugly Betty when I was 15.”

Rosie revealed she would arrive at castings “in trainers, with braids, a ton of make-up, plucked eyebrows and I had braces”.

The catwalk star – who is dating Jason Statham – recently made the transition from modelling to acting with a main role in ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ and she admits she initially found it difficult to adjust to the movie business.

She said: “It’s interesting coming from modelling, where women rule the industry, into one where there are so few great female parts and the competition is so much higher.”

Rosie is very proud of her first screen role, but she admits she still takes immense satisfaction from being a Victoria’s Secret Angel, because being a face for the underwear giant is one of the biggest jobs in modelling.

She said: “It’s still such a huge thing for a model. People kind of laugh about it and think it’s irrelevant, but I don’t know a girl in the world who would put those wings on and not feel, just for a split second, very special.”

Bar Refaeli to model her own range for her Undeez brand

By Andrea Petrou on November 16th, 2011

Bar Refaeli will model her own innerwear line when it launches in January.

The Israeli-born supermodel has created a range of items to be worn close to the skin including undershirts, tights and camisoles for her new brand Undeez and Bar insisted all items from the comfortable basics line were personally approved by her.

She said: “We have professional designers, of course, but my ideas and input go into every single item. I try everything before it’s manufactured. I choose the fabric and have the last word on the items.”

The collection, which is targeting the affordable to midrange price segment, is aimed at people age 25 to 45.

Before posing for the brand in January, Bar will most likely increase her workouts as she has previously revealed she makes sure to do extra exercise if she’s got a big shoot coming up.

She said: “I always want to look my best on a shoot, or for a fashion show, so I do an extra couple of sit-ups the night before and I drink hot water with lemon to get my metabolism kick-started in the morning and to cleanse my system, but I don’t do anything crazy.

“There’s nothing worse than forcing yourself to spend hours in the gym when you don’t enjoy it, so I do all sorts of things to work out because I get bored easily.”

By Andrea Petrou on November 14th, 2011

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Christian Louboutin shoes make her “feel like a woman”.

The Victoria’s Secret model thinks it is “really worth” saving up for a pair of the red-lacquered sole footwear because they will automatically make girls appear “very sexy”.

She said: “I feel they make you look very sexy, the cuts are beautiful; the lines, the colours the embellishments.

“I think he managed to capture something so special for women, every girl should be lucky enough to have them. If you can save up for a pair put away a dollar a week. It’s worth it girls. It is really worth it.”

The ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ actress – who topped both FHM’s Sexiest Women List and Maxim’s Hot 100 List earlier this year – has coped well since becoming famous and even manages to “avoid” the attention that comes from living a showbiz lifestyle when she needs to.

The 24-year-old stunner added to Fox411′s Pop Tarts: “I am very lucky in my life so I don’t wish for anything I don’t have, and I actually manage to get around just fine. I’m just fine.

“It’s not too much, I manage to avoid it when it’s necessary, but I’m very thankful for everything.”

By Andrea Petrou on October 26th, 2011

Bar Refaeli likes her perfume to announce her presence.

The supermodel – who was recently announced as the new face of Especially Escada – wears the same scent from day to night and loves that people can identify her by her fragrance.

She told People magazine: “I like my perfume to be suitable for day and night, and not change it. I like to have my smell, so when I’m around, people notice me and my smell and it comes together . almost like a second skin. I enter a room, they know I’ve arrived . well, not because of the amount.”

The Israeli born model got her love of fragrances from her mother, but admitted she loves the ” just-shaved smell” on men she dates.

She explained: “My mom loves perfume – she also wears it day or night – so I took that from her. We have the same taste in scents, definitely.

By Andrea Petrou on October 20th, 2011

Ashley Greene has become the new face of DKNY and DKNY Jeans.

The Twilight star will appear in the brands’ spring 2012 ad campaigns and says she can’t wait to get to work.

She revealed: “I’ve always loved Donna Karan’s creations. To be a part of the brands’ message is incredibly exciting because it feels like such an organic fit. It’s easy to talk about how these clothes work for my lifestyle, whether I’m in New York, L.A. or traveling for work.”

She said: “Ashley embodies everything DKNY – her energy, her spirit, her eclectic personal style. She is on the forefront of what it means to connect with a global fan base through social media, a focus that is aligned with our digital and new media initiatives.”

Bar Refaeli is to appear in a new fashion reality TV show.

The Israeli model has filmed segments for ‘Scouted’ which aims to find the next big star in the modelling world with Scott Lipps’ New York agency One Management.

A source told the New York Post newspaper: “Bar will appear in one episode, advising and helping aspiring models.”

Despite being one of the world’s most in-demand models, Bar recently revealed how she doesn’t feel the need to be “super skinny”.

The 26-year-old beauty is famed for her amazing figure but said she would never want to be too thin and would rather be happy and healthy.

Georgia May Jagger wants to create her own fashion label

By Andrea Petrou on October 18th, 2011

Georgia May Jagger wants her own fashion label.

The 19-year-old model – daughter of Rolling Stones legend Sir Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall – launched her successful Hudson jeans collection earlier this year and is now keen to branch out.

She told vogue.co.uk: “I’d love to do a fashion label in the future. I’ve been thinking a lot recently about maybe making a line of little dresses, so maybe one day. I’m really happy designing jeans at the moment though.”

However, before she becomes a fully fledged fashion designer, Georgia is happy studying photography at university in London.

She said: “I’ve just started the course, it’s going well so far. I’m still not sure what area of photography I’d like to get into – hopefully the course will help there. I really like doing portraits but I like taking pictures of things that are natural, like scenery too.”

When she was designing her jeans for Hudson, Georgia insisted she was heavily involved in creating the collection.

Georgia said: “My collection has a whole new cut. We are using new kinds of stretch denim fabrics exclusively developed for us which make them very comfortable.

“All the designs have skinny leg openings and are a mid-rise which is great for us shorter girls and also very flattering.”

Miranda Kerr wants her son to date Stella McCartney’s daughter

By Andrea Petrou on October 4th, 2011

Miranda Kerr wants her son to date Stella McCartney’s daughter.

The Australian supermodel walked for the British designer – who has four children with husband Alasdhair Willis – at Paris Fashion Week and spotted a potential future love interest for Flynn, her nine-month-old son with spouse Orlando Bloom.

She said: “It’s funny because Stella’s little girl Reiley is almost the same age as Flynn so watch out – Flynn might start dating her.”

The 28-year-old beauty also admitted combining work with raising Flynn can be difficult while he is still so young.

She told People.com: “I’m still breastfeeding so I have to express milk and send it back to Flynn and then try and see him on my breaks.

“I was up for hours last night as he’s teething. And when he’s crying, he just wants Mommy! It’s such hard work.”

However, Miranda admits her husband is a great help with the baby as he is very hands-on.

She added: “He loves changing diapers! But seriously, he’s very hands on. I really couldn’t ask for a better dad.”

Despite her praise for Orlando, Miranda insists the couple have no plans for any more children in the near future.

Asked if they are ready to expand their family, she said: “Not yet but let’s see.”

Alexa Chung is flattered to be called an “It girl”

By emilyborrett on September 1st, 2011

Alexa Chung has said that she finds the term “It girl” flattering, not insulting.

The 27-year-old TV presenter and model said: “It made me uncomfortable at the beginning … I always thought of ‘It’ girls as daughters of rich patriarchs who like to freeload. Now I think it’s a very nice compliment but it applies to a moment in time. One day I’ll be an old lady showing my children photos, going, ‘Look, I used to matter.’ I’m just enjoying the moment.”

Alexa is one of our absolute best style icons that the UK has – her clever combinations of boyish androgyny and classic, beautiful couture and vintage has got every teenage girl across the country in a spin.

The phrase is normally a slightly snide reference to a rich, pretty “DADDY BOUGHT ME TEN PONIES” kind of girl that is famous for not doing anything. But we have to say that Alexa is more than just that.. after all, she’s masterminding her own television show! Plus without her we wouldn’t all have dip-dyed hair or brogues.

We absolutely can’t wait for her new 24 Hour Catwalk show to hit our television screens.

Manolo Blahnik redesigned Kate Moss’ wedding shoes five times

By emilyborrett on August 23rd, 2011

Kate Moss may have looked like a floaty chiffon-clad gypsy angel on her wedding day, but apparently she was a bit of a choosy Bridezilla in the run-up to the big day as iconic shoe designer Manolo Blahnik has confessed that he had to re-design her bridal heels five times before she was happy with the result. Wowsers.

Manolo, who is one of the biggest designer shoe names around, happily created Kate a special pair of heels for her big day to wear with her Galliano gown but admits that it wasn’t the easiest job he’s ever had.

The designer told WWD: “We did them five times to get them the way she wanted. My workers are the best people. I wouldn’t be here without them. The shoes arrived the day before and there were too many jewels on the heel because of the long train, so we had women working up until midnight to change it.”

Well, we suppose if you’re one of the most famous models in Britain, not any old pair of Blahniks will do. The shoe designer, who’s been a friend of Moss’ for a long time, then went on to say how thrilled he was with her final look. “I’ve known Kate since she was a little girl. The wedding was divine. Kate has such a presence. You just have to feel it.”

Marc Jacobs praises Kate Moss for being “unique”

By emilyborrett on August 18th, 2011

The designer Marc Jacobs has gushingly spoken out about his admiration for the supermodel Kate Moss, who closed his fetish-inspired Louis Vuitton  runway show this season to much applause.

Marc puts Kate’s enduring success and popularity as a model down to her “unique” and “huge” presence – according to the designer there are not many models like Kate.

Jacobs told Vogue: “I mean Kate is, besides being physically beautiful and an incredibly charismatic and extraordinary personality, just very rare – if not totally unique. Kate can be just Kate, and the presence is just huge. She fills space, indoor and outdoor, studio space and pages, with such life. That energy really comes through in any and everything that she does.”

It sounds to us like Marc’s got a bit of a girl-crush on Kate, but can you blame him? This is one of our favourite friendships within the fashion industry.

Lara Stone never planned to become a model

By emilyborrett on August 11th, 2011

The supermodel Lara Stone has confessed that modelling was never her ambition when she was growing up.

Lara said that as a child she never thought that modelling could be an “actual job”, planning instead as a little girl to become a stay-at-home mother. We bet if Lara’s younger self could see her now, fronting campaigns for Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss and Givenchy, she’d be staggered.

She said: “Modelling wasn’t on my radar at all. I remember looking at all those amazing photos of Kate Moss but at first I didn’t realise it was an actual job. I came from a standard family – my mum was a stay-at-home mum and my dad worked. So you think that’s what your life is going to be; meet a nice man, get married and have some babies. I know when I was younger I wanted to do tonnes of different jobs. I used to come up with these crazy jobs to try and provoke my parents but they said you can be anything you want. I was like, ‘I want to be a garbage man’ and they were like, ‘That’s OK, we still love you!’”

We’re so glad Lara realised her ambition – she’s one of our favourite models.
