‘No Anorexia’ ad campaign puts the spotlight on eating disorders

With Fashion Week seasons coming to a close in Europe, one Italian fashion label is stirring up controversy over a billboard that features an anorexic model in order to ‘raise awareness.’ The ad seen here launched late September to coincide with Fashion Week in Milan, and provides a glimpse of extreme thinness in this competitive industry. While some feel that the ad itself could be a ‘trigger’ for the anorexic community, others feel it carries a worthy message for those who continue to support skinny models on the runway.

Actual top models: Who ranked first of fashion week?

As if modelling wasn’t competative enough, New York Magazine has put the tally everyone’s been keeping in their heads on the printed page with their Model Tracker. Catherine McNeil and Chanel Iman, above, both made the list, while Russian beauty Irina Kulikova “won” fashion week by participating in more than 20 shows. Chanel was the only American on the list, opening and closing for Custo Barcelona. She also strutted for Heatherette, L.A.M.B., JustSweet, Vera, and Alexander Wang. Busy girl! But no one was busier than those Brazilians – Raquel Zimmermann and Flavia de Oliveira both made the list.

New York Fashion Week: Sylvia Heisel

At the afterparty for the Mercury Style Awards presentation of Nili Lotan held at the BoConcept Design store models worked the room in designs from Sylvia Heisel. Because you know, us regular girls don’t feel self-concious and short enough at a fashion party. One model even told our editor Jackie that you “get used” to wearing such high heels and her feet don’t hurt at all. That’s just adding insult to injury—our injured feet. But our blisters blew out of our minds when we checked out Heisel’s designs. Check them out after the jump.
