New York Fashion Week S/S/ 2009: Monique Lhuillier

By Gemma on September 10th, 2008

When a designer takes her bow looking just as amazing as the model wearing the same creation as her, you know the clothes are going to sell. Monique Lhuillier constantly delivers reliably commercial, chic and romantic eveningwear, and this season she’s pulled out all the stops with brocades, silks and yards and yards of tulle. If you love a bit of glamour, you’ll be in heaven with this collection.

Runway Recap: Project Runway gets underway – spoilers ahead!

By Andrea Thatcher on November 15th, 2007

PR%20image.jpg

Project Runway is auf and running, and some stereotypical personalities have already been defined – not to mention frontrunners for the prize. This year? To have your collection sold on Bluefly.com (shoppers win either way!), a feature in Elle magazine (Judge Nina Garcia’s home tome), $100,000 to start their own line and a car (in New York? Why?). Guest judge Monique Lhuillier added her expertise to the panel this week, so we’re excited to see who else they get. We’ll be revealing some spoilers each week in the column so if you’ve haven’t watched the night before’s episode, it’s best to keep scrolling. If you saw the show and are eager to discuss, or just don’t mind being spoiled – keep reading for more photos and our recap.

LeAnn Rimes hit and miss at the CMA awards

By Andrea Thatcher on November 8th, 2007

CMAs%20LeAnn.jpg

LeAnn Rimes certainly hit a spectrum of fashion choices at last night’s CMA Awards. On the red carpet she donned a blush-colored tiered Monique Lhuillier gown and Neil Lane diamonds, the dress is pretty and fits her well, I’m just not sure if that teir is at a flattering height. But that is nothing compared to the 80′s gymnast’s uniform she wore as a presenter. I don’t even know what to say about that outfit. Let’s gloss over it and move on to the stunning black number she wore to perform with Reba McEntire, the best dress of the night without a doubt.

America Ferrera shines in Monique Lhuillier at Hispanics in Hollywood event

By Andrea Thatcher on October 11th, 2007

America%20Ferrera.jpg

I love Monique Lhuillier, the designer who created the red carpet frock above, and I’m beginning to love America Ferrera. I know I’m behind most of America (the country), but I haven’t been completely swayed by America’s newest namesake sweetheart. But her classy red carpet style is bringing me around. This classic navy lace sheath, worn for the 1st Annual Hispanic Women in Entertainment event, is just lovely and appropriate. You could call it a bit boring, but I like how seriously America takes her role as a Hispanic role model, she was named Hispanic Woman of the Year, and the way she is always the consumate professional. You really don’t see that too often in Hollywood, and still less on a fresh, young, fashionable face.
