Mulberry is always one of the hottest tickets for London Fashion Week, as it’s always a visual feast, fun and guaranteed packed with celebs. The label offered 2 intimate salon shows in the fancy ballroom at Claridges, so I decide to go along to the second one in order to catch up with some work. Worst. Decision. Ever. The first showing had a double-denim clad Kate Moss and Kristen Stewart in attendance, I had Olivia Palermo, who I only noticed after nearly tripping over her feet.
Secondary celebs aside, it was a blast. The Mulberry ice cream van was outside offering mulberry flavoured scoops to guests in the queue, as well as refreshing pink lemonades. Inside the waiting hall, the walls had been decorated with hundreds and hundreds of inflatable jungle animals, meant to be reminiscent of kitsch pier arcades and camping holidays. The collection, too, was inspired by the Great British Summer, seaside shenanigans, donkey rides and sparkling pier lights. Models sported big, loose beehive hairdo’s with dip-dyed streaks, seemingly inspired by candyfloss, lots of amazing Mulberry bags (obviously), and some even had dogs as accessories. The colourpalette ranged from bright yellows and greens to muted shades of beige and eventually a series of black looks. Once you looked beyond the OTT theme and styling, the clothes were surprisingly simple and chic, with classy little work-appropriate skirt-suits, floaty sheer long dresses and leather shorts and jackets. The real stars, of course, were the bags, but that doesn’t need any explanation.

“Fashion can be bought. Style one must possess.” Edna Woolman Chase, editor in chief of style-bible Vogue magazine from 1914-1952
To mark the beginning of the 2011 London Fashion week, we don our most sartorially-inclined specs and get to work tracking down the best Apple’s App Store had to offer.
We wouldn’t be seen dead without them.

Black Check Tweed Mini Circle Skirt
It’s time to get on board with one of this season’s snuggliest and most wearable trends: tartan. No, you don’t have to start dressing like Princess Anne, don’t worry..
Tartan and check fabrics were all over the catwalks for the Autumn/Winter shows, from tough and masculine grey check twin-sets at Yves Saint Laurent to sixties-style checked military coats at Burberry Prorsum and blanket skirts at Rag & Bone.
We’re desperately keeping our eye out for a plaid maxi-skirt that we can wear with tough boots and a simple white T-shirt for for a laid-back 90s grunge look, but no joy yet. However, the high street is already working with this trend well. We love Topshop’s leather and check bomber jacket, which would look so so good with a pair of cigarette pants. Meanwhile at Asos they’re already selling bold tartan capes in eye-catching colours – the chicest way to wrap up warm this winter.
The best variety of tartan fashion, however, is at River Island. Their high-waisted 1940s style trousers worn with a silk blouse would be European perfection. Our top buy though is the checked pair of navy blue lace-up shoes with bow detailing – just put those bad boys on with a tea dress and you’re good to go with a quirky, British look.
Check out the gallery above for our favourite tartan pieces on the high street.

Naomi Campbell is opening a shop in London.
The supermodel has joined forces with shopping centre Westfield for the pop-up store, which will open its doors between April 6 to 13 to sell designer items in aid of The Prince’s Trust charity.
Among the products up for grabs will be a Vivienne Westwood evening dress previously worn by the British beauty, and a Tom Ford suit donned by comedian David Walliams.
In addition, labels including Stella McCartney, Mulberry, Givenchy and Christopher Kane will donate pieces to the shop, while fashion set designer Michael Howells will be responsible for dressing the store windows.
Naomi will also be joined behind the till by a string of as-yet unnamed famous faces, with mystery guest DJs also promised to boost the shopping experience.
The Prince’s Trust benefits young people who need practical and financial backing in order to turn their lives around.
The supermodel’s previous altruistic efforts include her annual Fashion for Relief catwalk show, and a collection of t-shirts, which were sold to raise money for the charity.

It’s been a whirlwind of leather, flirty girly dresses, lace, leopard print and some very eccentric designs, but now LFW is drawing slowly to a close.
Burberry, David Koma and Paul Smith came out trumps with their collections giving us a range of ready to wear designs coupled with some more eccentric catwalk pieces while Erdem and Ashish pulled out all the stops with their collections.
And lets not forget the pretty pieces from Mulberry and Nicole Farhi.
We could be here all day talking about the collections (if you want to see individual reports check out our LFW highlights), so instead we’ve put together a gallery of our favourite outfits from the catwalks.
Take a look and tell us if you agree.

Designers, London fashion week
By Andrea Petrou on September 21st, 2010
Mulberry decided to put not one, but two shows on for LFW week this season and finished with a party that attracted A-list fashionistas such as Alexa Chung.
And the designer kept the same theme displayed at its NYFW week show, which emitted a dreamy, springtime mood. Pale auburn-haired girls floated down the rose garden decorated catwalk in satin pink skirts and sky blue tie dye dresses, which gave a nod to the 80s and the romantic era.
However, the designer also gave us a few sassy creations including a multicoloured animal print dress and a beige skirt, which resembled the roses on the catwalk.
And of course lets not forget the bags, which came in all shapes and sizes from totes, to shoulder to satchels.
We’re not ashamed to admit we let ourselves drawl a teeny tiny bit over these.

Designer Fashions, designer pick of the week, Designers, dresses, Events, Gallery, New York Fashion Week - Runway
By Andrea Petrou on September 15th, 2010
By Emily Borrett.
As Andrea said before, Fashion Week in New York is coming to a glitzy, air-kissing end and it’s all very sad. As a send-off to one of the world’s biggest fashion events (for now, anyway- it’ll be back, girls), ShinyStyle is bringing you all the highlights from the past week. So far we’ve celebrated the Spring/Summer 2011 collections from both Tommy Hilfiger and Diane Von Fustenberg, but now it’s Mulberry’s turn for a bit of Shiny-Love.
It was clear from the get-go that Mulberry’s SS2011 collection was going to a girl’s dream – the floor space surrounding the runway was decorated to look like a lily pond, with huge peachy lilypads and hot-pink flowers scattered across the floor. The mood of the show had a dreamy, springtime “pretty girl in a pretty dress walking in a pretty garden” feel to it that reflected the clothes perfectly. The milky-skinned, auburn-haired Mulberry girls were sent stomping down the catwalk in full-skirted, ladylike creations in sugary tones of pink and sky blue. Go away Christmas, I’m ready for my spring wardrobe now..

Just when we thought the expensive “IT” bag had taken the hint and disappeared (well for a good few years anyway) it’s decided to return once again to the shelves.
According to Selfridges its sales of designer bags have increased by a massive 60% over the past year with many handbags queens making a beeline for the Mulberry Alexa Chung inspired satchel bag. There’s also been a huge increase in the much coveted Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Hillier’ bag in bright purple and red City bag by Balenciaga.
However, we know, like us, many of you may not be able to fork out those thousands, or at least high hundreds you need to buy one of these bags so we’ve decided to have a little rebellion against the IT bag, giving you alternative spring 2010 trends instead with a much fairer price tag.

Accessories, Handbags

Mulberry chose a great season to open up a pop-up shop in the Hamptons, with a collection full of pops of color that the preppy set loves.
The fuschia of the Leigh tote, shown, is just one of the bright hues of the spring line full of greens, reds, and yellows.
The East Hampton shop will open on Saturday just in time for Memorial Day revellers.
“We had tremendous success with our stand-alone stores in New York and we thought this was a great opportunity to bring the brand to the client,” Joe Judge, vice president of Mulberry USA, told WWD.

It greets us every time we go to the Intermixonline homepage and it has worn us down.
Sure, it’s not very fashiony and it kind of looks like the Hayden Panettiere for Dooney & Bourke bags, but we love this Mulberry Roxanna patent tote, $795.
Red patent leather accessories can be more versatile than you might think – a colorful bag is an easy way to add a pop to an otherwise boring outfit.

Check out Agyness Deyn at Fashion Week in NYC. She is a British model and also the current face of Mulberry along with fellow Brit Karen Elson. I love her hot pink dress and her hair is amazing. Let’s be frank, not many people can pull off the platinum blonde, supper messy, rocker chick hair without looking silly. I would love to know who makes her dress…anyone know? Otherwise, I’ll have to do some research.
