Eva Mendes replaces Naomi Watts as the face of Thierry Mugler’s Angel fragrance.

By Andrea Petrou on March 17th, 2011

Eva Mendes has replaced Naomi Watts as the face of Thierry Mugler’s Angel fragrance.

While the company is known for replacing its spokesperson every few years, a statement revealed the 36-year-old actress was chosen because they hope to play up the fragrance’s “sultry” qualities.

A statement said: “While Naomi Watts’ ethereal beauty embodied the angelic aspect of the fragrance, Thierry Mugler chose to reignite the enticing and explosive dimensions of the fragrance with the sultry Mendes, though her obviously flawless physical beauty is in perfect harmony with the artist’s aesthetic canon, Ms. Mendes mesmerised Mugler with her independence, determination and humour.”

Eva – who was previously the face of Calvin Klein’s Secret Obsession perfume – will begin appearing in advertisements for Thierry Mugler from September.

Earlier this month Eva followed in the footsteps of supermodel Helena Christensen and British beauty Kelly Brook to be named as the new ambassador of Reebok EasyTone.

The brunette beauty revealed she was thrilled to take on the role because fitness is so important to her.

She explained: “I feel better when I’m in good shape. Between long days on the set and travel, it’s not always possible to get a full workout in, so I have to make the time I have count. As an actress, being fit is so important.”

Uli Becker, president of Reebok International, added the ‘Other Guys’ actress was chosen because she is “committed to fitness”.

A/W Trends: Super sleek straight hair

By Shiny writer on July 21st, 2010

ShinyStylers I’m back and refreshed from my hols and ready to take the fashion reigns back from Emily who did a fantastic job while I was off sunning myself (ok, ok I won’t rub it in).

However, while I’ve been showing off my holiday naturally curly locks and priding myself on not suffering from GHD withdrawls for two weeks, it seems I may have to be getting them right back out again. Why? Because it seems the autumn hair trend is all about sleek and straight, blowing out the boho curly look we’ve been seeing all summer.

Carolina Herrera and Hermes literally sent their models straight down the A/W 2010 catwalks with sleek, poker straight locks, while, according to Elle, Catwalk by Tigi are also launching a hair range later this year called Sleek Mystique and judging by the sounds of this, it doesn’t look like curls are very welcome.

And celebrities are already starting to display this new trend, opting for ironed out locks instead of messy up dos and sleek curls at premiers. One example includes Naomi Watts who turned up earlier this week for the premiere Salt sporting sleek straight hair. However she’s not the only one. Celebrities including Avril Lavigne, Rachel Bilson and even Lindsay Lohan, who sported the super straight look on the first day of her 90 day jail stint.

View our gallery to see how you should be wearing your hair this Autumn. Oh, and those of you, who like me, suffer from frizztastic barnets in misty weather may also want to consider a hat or big umbrella to keep those curls at bay.

Scarlett Johansson, Lea Michele and Catherine Zeta-Jones turn up for the Tony Awards

By Andrea Petrou on June 14th, 2010

While we were crowding round the BBQs, eating burgers and cheering on England, the US stars had more demure events to be thinking about.

This weekend saw the 61st annual Tony Awards, which celebrate the best in American theatre and although they are not as well known as perhaps the Oscars or Baftas, A-class celebrities still strutted their fashion stuff on the red carpet.

Catherine Zeta-Jones accepted her best actress in a musical award for her Broadway debut in the musical A Little Night Music, in a baby blue strapless organza gown complete with beading, while Lucy Liu looked went for cute and girly in a pink frilled Marchesa frock.

Scarlett Johansson went for celeb favourite Elie Saab opting for a black beaded gown, which she showed off when she went to pick up her award for Best Performance in a Play by a Featured actress while Paula Abdul opted for frills and fishtail in a Tony Ward Couture frock.

However, not everyone went for beaded and bare skin. Naomi Watts took a risk in a nude suit style fock with long sleeves by RM by Roland Mouret gown that kept bare skin at a minimum while Cate Blanchett took an even bigger one in a silver Armani Prive suit.
Thankfully we think the risk paid off.

We also think a special fashion mention goes out to Helen Mirren who, like Scarlett, opted for a black frock to wow on the night, and Glee star Lea Michele who shone in sunshine yellow.

Cannes Film Festival 2010 day 6: The Biutiful Premier

By Andrea Petrou on May 18th, 2010

We may be well into the Cannes Film Festival 2010 but it hasn’t stopped celebrities making an effort with their frocks, in fact as the days go on the dresses just seem to be getting better, and in some cases bigger too.

The Biutiful premier, which took place yesterday saw a huge variety of frocks from the straight and elegant to the big and not so Biutiful.

Naomi Watts as always wowed in a boatneck black long frock, which she teamed up with minimal make-up for the simple yet elegant look. Helena Mattson also opted for this style and dressed it up with 50s style hair and make-up.

Kate Beckinsdale took the red carpet look to racey new heights with her black luxe dress complete with high split and Naomi Campbell went for a mosaic gold sequined dress.

However while slinky dictated the main fashion theme others went for something completely different. Fan Bing Bing opted for the traditional yet tiresome white bridal inspired frock while Adrianna Karembeu went for a grey version of this theme.

Take a look at the gallery and tell us who was your best dressed.
