Lindsay Lohan’s lawyer is confident she will be acquitted of felony grand theft.
The ‘Mean Girls’ actress – who is accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace from an upmarket Californian boutique – rejected a plea deal in the case yesterday (23.03.11) in exchange for a reduced sentence and now must face trial but her attorney Shawn Chapman Holley is sure her innocence will be proved.
She said: “Ms. Lohan has maintained her innocence from the moment this case was filed and she has never wavered. Though many advised her to follow the safe route by taking ‘the deal’, the truth is, Ms. Lohan is innocent; she has a strong defence; and we are confident that a jury will listen to the evidence fairly and acquit her.”
Lindsay – who is currently on probation stemming from a 2007 driving under the influence (DUI) conviction – will next appear in court for a preliminary hearing on April 22, with Judge Stephanie Sautner, who is described as “tough but fair”, presiding over proceedings.
Earlier this week, Lindsay’s mother Dina Lohan said her daughter – who has always maintained she was loaned the necklace in exchange for publicity – was seriously considering pleading no-contest and accepting the deal as she wanted to “get it over with”.
Explaining why the actress was considering pleading no-contest, Dina said: “Obviously she’s not pleading guilty.
“My children don’t steal things. But the system is so strange out in Los Angeles. We’re considering a couple of options and just want to get this over with in the shortest amount of time.”

Apparently we’re a bit fixated on necklaces this week, but if you can’t afford Drew Barrymore’s $270 necklace, this one from Forever 21 is equally statement-making.
This gemstone necklace from Forever 21, $7.80, dangles faceted clear and gray gemstones from a gunmetal chain and black grosgrain ribbon for a look that can go goth or glam.
Necklaces like these are one of the best ways to jazz up your LBD, especially if it has a higher neckline that makes the necklace look more like part of the dress than an accessory.

You get some of your greatest shopping ideas from your friends, right? Me too! So for the next few items in our gift guide I’ve kind of copied off of my friend Jill’s Christmas list (maybe I should let her husband know!).
The Frye Harness boots, $198, aren’t going anywhere. They’ve become one of the modern classics of affordable boot styles that you know will stay en vogue for years to come. A little bit cowboy boot, a little bit motorcycle boot, this style takes cues from both of those but makes them cleaner and straighter.
Check out items one through five here, and six through 10 here, or keep reading for 12 through 15!
We’re doing the best of beauty too! Click here for the first 10 beautiful gifts under $200.

Rimistyle thinks a lot like us when it comes to dressing up a little black dress on a budget!. While we know that skimping on accessories isn’t recommended by glossy magazine editors who say to “invest” in $700 pumps while buying your clothes at H&M, some of us will never ever have the disposable income to buy $700 pumps, even at half price. Plus, if you already have something great to wear in your closet, the quickest way to update it is with accessories, and when one of your other accessories – your wallet – is a little light, inexpensive is your only option. Rimistyle brings you these disco nights clutches for only $36, and this shining star necklace set will only set you back $22.

If dainty jewelry isn’t your thing and you have a hard time finding items that suit your edgier aesthetic, then Dirty Librarian Chains designer Susan Domelsmith knows exactly how you feel. Domelsmith began her jewelry line after she couldn’t find jewelry to fit her style. According to dirtylibrarianchains.com, the designer wanted to find jewelry “that possessed an edgy, understated and yet slightly askew elegance.”
She began by finding vintage chains that she put back together through knotting and tangling, to create pieces that could be both dressed up and dressed down. Because the pieces are all created from vintage chains, many are one of a kind or only made in small batches.

If you love diamond jewelry, but don’t like blood on your hands, than conflict free diamond jewelry is for you. Many diamonds sold in America are mined in war zones, where their profits have gone to warlords and insurgencies. Diamond diggers are also subject to violence, famine and even death. Instead of buying these diamonds, you can buy diamonds made in ethically sound mines and from companies that are environmentally responsible.
One such company, Brilliant Earth, was founded after Eric Grossberg couldn’t find a blood free diamond for his fiancée Beth Gerstein. They decided to form Brilliant Earth together so that people can buy fairly made diamond jewelry. Brilliant Earth also donates five percent of all profits to Diamonds for Africa, which aids African communities.

It’s definitely fall outside and that just always makes me fondly think of trees and leaves and squirrels. And this 100% recycled 10-k gold squirrel pendant by Cheeky Monkey Jewelry is perfect for the season. It can be worn short or long with its adjustable briolette shortener. I also love that the squirrel’s “nut” is actually a sparkling diamond bezel set in 14-k white gold. The squirrely pendant is a tad pricey at $500, but definitely adorable for fall and is also a great conversation piece.
