New York Fashion Week: Jayson Brunsdon’s Hong Kong inspiration

Jayson Brunsdon, renowned Australian designer, brought his spring/summer ’08 sleek designs, bold colors and Asian prints to the New York fashion scene last night. Inspired by the iconic novel and cult film, The World of Suzie Wong, and the influence modern China is having on global culture, Jayson based his shapes and prints from Chinese pajamas, mandarin collars, and coolie suits. His modern take on traditional Chinese calligraphy, bamboo, and blossoms create a fabulous, unique look. The colors he applied—from red to yellow to green to persimmon—were evoked by the vigor of Bruce Lee’s classic films of the ’60s and ’70s.
