Jimmy Choo patent leather boots

By Andrea Thatcher on November 27th, 2007

jimmychooboots.jpgIf you could afford designer boots–who would you buy? We’re in love with Jimmy Choo’s gray Beach patent leather boots from Net-A-Porter. They’re super shiny up to your knees and the cut and design is flawless down to the slightly rounded toe and metallic silver stiletto heel. But for $1,125 they’ll probably have to simply remain on my ‘in-my-dreams’ wish list.

Designer pick of the week: Diane von Furstenburg coat dress

By Andrea Thatcher on November 20th, 2007

dianevonfurstenberg_coat%20dress.jpgThis knee-length Ponte di Roma black jersey wrap coat dress from Diane von Furstenberg is fabulous. The wide neck collar with oversized lapels, three-quarter length sleeves and matching tie belt at the waist really creates a classy, chic look. And this designer look is actually semi-affordable–for $398, that’s just twice the price of a great pair boots. Make this sophisticated coat yours at Net-A-Porter.com.

Fendi 10th Anniversary baguette

By Andrea Thatcher on November 19th, 2007

fendi10thanniv.jpgIf you have close to $7,000 just laying around, then you should definitely consider this Fendi 10th Anniversary baguette available at Net-A-Porter for $6,670! I can’t imagine spending that much money on a handbag, but maybe that’s just me. This limited-edition bag features gray embellishments and silver and black beading with a double F logo buckle and watersnake handle. Inside, the baguette is lined in red satin with a ‘Limited Edition’ bead embroidery. It’s a beautiful bag, but worth $6,670?? What do you think?

Net-a-Porter’s Runway by Designer a new way to shop

By Andrea Thatcher on November 9th, 2007

Net-a-Porter has a new feature called Runway by Designer that’s basically like being able to click and shop on Style.com. You pick a designer’s runway, like Burberry Prorsum above, and Net-a-Porter gives you pictures of the looks they have for sale. Not only can you just click to get the shoes or outfit you want, but you also get a nice little rundown on the designer’s trends of the season. For instance you can read about Christopher Bailey’s tough-chic collection and advice to accessories with hard-edged extras when you buy the patent leather coat, $5,225, at far left and register for an update when the sandals come in stock. If you’ve got the budget, this could revolutionize how you shop the runway.

Christian Lacroix Motorcycle-style boots: Yay or Nay?

By Andrea Thatcher on October 31st, 2007

Christian%20Lacroix_motorcycle%20boots.JPG
Hmm…I don’t know about these multi-colored, irridescent leather Christian Lacroix Motorcycle-style boots–is it just me or are they incredibly tacky? These boots, featured on Net-A-Porter for a whopping $1,295, are accented with stud and crystal embelishments on a pointed toe with velvet laces up the front and include an embellished detachable gator and around the heel. I don’t believe any biker chic would be caught dead in them, let alone a wealthy fashionista… What do you think?

Great patent leather pieces for fall

By Andrea Thatcher on October 12th, 2007

dress%20and%20boots.JPG
Glossy, wet-looking patent leather is a great way to add glamor to a day or evening look. Net-a-porter.com recommends pairing a dress with patent shoes and clutch for evening, veering away from the typical leather with gray or blue, and mixing high shine with a chunky knit. On the higher-priced end, check out this gray lurex halter dress from Lela Rose retails for $1,695 and these Pedro Garcia ankle boots for $440. For more affordable ways to add shiny leather to your wardrobe. Try these Isaac Mizrahi ankle boots at Target for $36.99, or patent clutch for $14.99 (images on next page).

Take this fashionable fall outfit to the office and beyond

By Andrea Thatcher on October 2nd, 2007

fall%20outfit.jpg

We loved these Jonathan Kelsey two-tone pumps so much, we had to build an outfit around them! Since they serve as the trendy item of the ensemble, we kept the rest fairly simple with a purple cashmere wrap sweater from Bluefly and a Chloe button-down skirt from Net-a-Porter. Another fall fave of mine – this Banana Republic satchel - rounds out the look with structure and style. As a bonus, all the pieces would definitely do double duty with other outfits both casual and dressy.

Chloe tops at Net-a-Porter

By Andrea Thatcher on September 27th, 2007

Chloe%20net%20a%20porter.jpg

If a $3,000 Chloe coat isn’t in your budget, maybe these $600-$1500 tops/dresses are? Maybe? Even if it’s just fantasy, perusing the new Chloe arrivals at Net-a-Porter proved enjoyable. These selections have the frothy, boho feel but with a more grown-up, fashion-forward sensibility, which is nice foreshadowing for spring. Both the vibrant colors and the soft gray are on trend and will enrich a wardrobe of basics. Click over the jump for details on each item.
