Was I the only person in the world to have not gone to V Festival this weekend? It’s certainly been the only thing anyone on my Facebook has been writing about anyway.

It looks like the line-up this year was absolutely amazing for pop-lovers, with the likes of Rihanna at the top of the billing. Ri-Ri herself was every bit the Bajan vision she normally is in a sexy tie-waist denim shirt and a pair of figure-hugging leather shorts. We couldn’t help noticing that her scarlet hair is gone all of a sudden in exchange for a shaggy, honey-brunette ‘do, which looks great but we’re unsure as to which we prefer..

Jessie J looked radiant and excited to be performing despite her broken leg in a mental Lets Get Physical style panelled bodysuit, with long lilac fringing trailing along the sleeves to compliment her new purple hair. Jessie wasn’t the only one to rock fringed outfits for the festival either, as Katy B performed in a cool black shredded jacket and Noisettes singer Shingai Shoniwa wore a scarlet bodysuit with fringed details..

The festival’s biggest fashion surprise, however, was N-Dubz’ Tulisa in a Jeremy Scott-style one-shouldered dress in a bold animal print. Long gone are the days of baby pink trackies onstage for our new favourite X Factor judge – Tulisa clearly knows that now is the time to have a little bit more fun with her look. Yabbadabbadoo!

Yay or nay?: X-Factor Tulisa’s new hair

By emilyborrett on August 18th, 2011

Yesterday was the X Factor Press launch in London’s leafy Greenwich, and we couldn’t resist having a gander at the paparazzi photos to have another gawp at our new line-up of judges. Neither could we help staring long and hard at Tulisa Contostavlos’ new hair, which has acquired some yellowy stripy bits in it all of a sudden.

We all know that dip-dyeing (the ends of your hair being lightened for a surfer girl look) is a big hair trend at the moment, but we’re not sure about the streaky chunks of blonde at the top of Tulisa’s hair.. Maybe it’s just us but we thought that streaky hair was finally a thing of the past – but maybe that’s just us. Personally we preferred the N-Dubz singer’s dark chocolatey locks..

What do you think? Vote in the poll below to let us know whether you think Tulisa’s new dye-job is a do or a don’t.

See pictures from The X-Factor press launch here.

It’s a thumbs up from me

Get the look: Katy Perry’s new sophisticated bob

By admin on August 20th, 2010

Wow, Katy Perry’s gone all sophisticated on us. The singer/other half of Russel Brand was spotted out and about sporting a cute bob, which made her look alot more grown up.

And it seems we’re not the only ones who think so. Celebrity Stylist Mark Woolley, founder of Electric Hairdressing London, told us: “Katy Perry has once again demonstrated that she’s the ultimate retro chameleon with her sleek and sassy Lanvin inspired new bob.”

He added that her new “bold and fearless style means the world stops to take watch when she changes her hair style and this glossy Anna Wintour homage is bang on for this Autumn/Winter’s luxury hair trend.”

And he also had a few tips for those of you daring enough to copy Katy’s look (we would attempt it but our curls wouldn’t behave).

Step one: Apply a nourishing mask like Kérastase Masque Chroma Reflect  and wash out after 10 minutes for incredible mirror like shine that’s silky to the touch.

Step two: Using a large paddle brush, blowdry through the hair until it is almost dry, pointing the nozzle down the hair shaft to smooth hair and prevent frizz.

Step three: Create volume by using a large Denman Hot Barrel Brush and continue blowdrying through the lengths, starting at the roots until hair is dry.

Step four: Finish by wrapping the ends including the fringe around the barrel brush to frame the face and create shape.
