Annie Leibovitz shoots for Nike

By Andrea Petrou on June 14th, 2011

We’re going a little bit sporty over here at ShinyStyle today. But as we all know sport and fashion do merge pretty well, especially if your a top sports brand like Nike, which has teamed up with one of our fave photographers Annie Leibovitz.

Together the pair have launched Nike’s 2011 Make Yourself movement to inspire and motivate women everywhere to achieve their goals and become the best ‘versions’ of themselves, whatever this may be: fit, proud, fast, healthy, strong or beautiful

The Make Yourself Team is a collection of elite female athletes who have reached the top of their professions and are passionate about making themselves the best they can possibly be.

Brought together by Nike from a variety of sports and different walks of life, they are authentic, charismatic and committed women who embody the Make Yourself philosophy – with hard work and dedication anyone can overcome obstacles to improve their lives and reach their goals.

The team features USA track and field Olympian Allyson Felix, Chinese tennis player Li Na, Algerian-French dancer Sofia Boutella, British hurdler Perri Shakes-Drayton, Russian-born tennis star Maria Sharapova, USA goalkeeper Hope Solo and Australian surfer Laura Enever.
As part of the Make Yourself campaign, the team shares their inspirational life stories, fitness routines and goals to encourage women across the world to put a stake in the ground and start making themselves too.

Get the look: Eliza Doolittle

By Andrea Petrou on January 27th, 2011

By Emily Borrett.

It’s a good time to be popstrel Eliza Doolittle at the moment – she’s got great style, her songs are dominating the charts and she’s just been signed onto the much-coveted books of Select Models. Amidst a whole gang of preening, primped stars done up to the nines at every occasion, Eliza’s endearing scruffiness and laid-back cool has won us over.

Instead of wearing a long gown or a frock made out of goose feathers and Swarovski crystals to perform, Eliza prefers to step onstage in an iconic pair of Nike high-tops, a slouchy graphic-printed t-shirt and some teensy shorts to show off her pins. Dressed for going to the beach and climbing trees bare-legged, her laid-back tomboy style is an absolute fresh breath of air to ShinyStyle.

We’ve looked all over the internet and found pieces here and there that we’re sure Miss Doolittle would approve of. Check out the gallery below and let us know what you think.

Dress down Friday: Nike Andy Warhol/Marilyn Monroe trainers

By Andrea Petrou on November 6th, 2009

Nike.jpgIf you’re looking for casual footwear with an arty difference then you’ll love these limited edition pop art Nike trainers.

The Nike Air Max 90 Andy Warhol/Marilyn Monroe trainer is a perfect accessory to a denim skirt, leggings or skinny jeans, and brings the current 80′s look right into the 21st century.

We love the way Nike has made it’s standard trademark trainer really stand out here, and despite our previous cripes about an air bubble looking too sporty, will definitely invest in these, soon to be one of a kind trainers.
