Sonia Rykiel & H&M Underwear Collection Launch - Party in Le Grand Palais

Have you ever wondered how highstreet stores get top designers on-board? Well, if rumours are to believed then perhaps it’s by copying their designs in the first place.

In an interview with Nylon Magazine Nathalie Rykiel, creative director at Sonia Rykiel, said she’d seen some very similar clothes to the brand’s designs in H&M, and said this was one of the main reasons she decided to team up with the Swedish chain store.

Are you asking if H&M has used my designs?,” she asked Nylon magazine in an interview. “Well, yes, of course! They copy me all the time! Finally I said, ‘Look, if you want your girls to wear Sonia Rykiel from H&M, let’s let them have the real thing!’”

And the result? Well we’re sure you’ve seen the naughty-but-nice lingerie line for H&M and we’re waiting with baited breath for the next installment of knitwear, which will be hitting H&M in the very near future.

Fashionista Faran Krentcil leaves blogging for Nylon Magazine

By Andrea Thatcher on January 6th, 2008

Faran Krentcil has announced that she’s leaving her position as editor of Fashionista.com to “join the ranks” at Nylon Magazine. It seems this internet media darling can’t keep from seeking out new opportunities despite how successful her current ventures usually are – like imaginarysocialite.com and Fashion Week Daily. While we’re tempted to wonder how Fashionista will fare without Krentcil, the blog’s primary voice and most public face, IS survived to blog another day and we know this style tome will too. We want to know what kind of position the new job at Nylon is, and if Krentcil will be covering New York Fashion Week for it.

Nylon breaks in a pair of Converse – more interesting than it sounds

By Andrea Thatcher on January 4th, 2008

Hmm…I just bought a new pair of classic black Converse sneakers, and all I did to ready them for wear was switch out the white laces for some purple ones. Apparently I am quite remiss. Check out this Nylon Magazine short film to see what I mean.

Eh, one punk show and mine’ll be plenty broken in.
