It’s not long before many of us will be kicking off our court shoes and shedding that work attire for that office Christmas party.
But once our office disguise is off, there comes the other problem and that’s what to wear.
Over the past few weeks we’ve been giving you some ideas but if they still haven’t rocked your boat then why not consider wearing a red dress.
This hue is not only a traditional Chrimbo colour, but also currently hot in celebrity circles and a common look on the red carpet.
Depending on where your boss has decided top take you go all sexy with a bodycon style or play it safe, yet stylish with a skater skirt number.
Below are our top five.
H&M have collaborated with the costume designer from ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ to create a capsule collection inspired by protagonist Lisbeth Salander.
Trish Summerville has created all the outfits for Lisbeth (played by Rooney Mara) in the US adaptation of the Swedish film and she revealed she jumped at the chance to give the troubled heroine’s clothes a more “realistic fashion feel” for the Swedish retailer.
She told WWD: “We put a lot of aged-in washes and finishes, which goes along the lines of the Salander character. In the film, her clothes are quite extreme. They’re really worn down, they’re dirty. So for us, it was taking that kind of concept and giving it more of a realistic fashion feel.”
Anna Norling, division designer at H&M, said the company wanted to make Lisbeth’s clothes more flattering and feminine.
She explained: “We were really strongly inspired by the film and especially by Trish’s styling, but the collection wouldn’t have looked as it does without H&M, because we added the fashion point of view. I’m very happy with the result and I know that Trish is as well.”
Items in the range include tribal-style earrings, a leather jacket, which comes in washed black or deep burgundy, hoodies and lace-up boots.
The collection will make its debut at Paris boutique Colette on November 28.
Madonna’s iconic black bustier has sold at auction for £45,000.
The custom-made piece – created by Los Angeles-based store Trashy Lingerie – was worn with fishnet tights by the singer during her 1987 ‘Who’s That Girl’ tour, and went under the hammer in China for way above its pre-sale estimate of £4,000 to £5,000.
Previously displayed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio and The Frederick’s of Hollywood Museum in Los Angeles, the garment was sold by Beverly Hills-based auctioneers Julien’s Auctions at the Ponte resort in Macau, China, alongside 23 other pieces of Madonna memorabilia.
Among the other items on sale were a signed copy of the star’s risque 1992 ‘Sex’ book and a recording of the song ‘Simon Says’ alongside her band Emmy and the Emmy’s, with the auction drawing in a total of over £62,000.
Darren Julien, owner of Julien’s Auctions, said: “When you’re buying these things, you’re buying a memory.”
The outfit was specially selected for Madonna’s first world tour – which took place 24 years ago – by her stylist and costume designer Martha Stewart.
She said at the time: “The most important ingredients are the crop top, the bare midriff, a hip-hugger skirt or pants and lingerie straps showing under your top.”
Leighton Meester always gives her own twist to an outfit.
The Gossip Girl actress says it’s important to give a unique look to clothes so whenever she wears something she always makes sure she jazzes it up.
She said: “My biggest fashion tip is take something really basic and make it your own. You could be wearing jeans and a T-shirt but if you add heals that are your style, they completely change your outfit. It’s the same with a little black dress – if you add an awesome necklace or a headscarf or a bag, that makes it special.
“My essential fashion item is a great pair of heels. They just give you that extra oomph.”
Leighton, 25, also revealed how she feels and her sexiest when she’s in simple clothes and no make-up.
She told LOOK magazine: “I can feel sexy in jeans and a T-shirt. Not trying to be sexy is really sexy. I actually think I’m prettier without make-up. It’s just about accepting what you love about yourself.”
Salma Hayek says dresses always make her look good quickly.
The 45-year-old actress was praised for her sense of style by good friend Demi Moore, but the ‘Puss in Boots’ star told her pal she finds it easier to pick out one garment rather than put together a whole outfit.
She said: “I was having dinner with my friend Demi – yes, that one – and she said, ‘Oh, my God! Every time I see you, you are so put together!’ And I told her it’s a lot easier to grab a fabulous little dress than to put together a whole casual outfit with jeans, a top, the right jacket, and great shoes. You slip on a dress and you can’t go wrong.”
Salma – who has a four-year-old daughter Valentina with husband Francois-Henri Pinault – also admitted that if she is in a bad mood, she heads to a beauty salon or goes shopping for new products.
She told Redbook magazine: “Get a pedicure, and if that isn’t working, go get a wax job! Sometimes a new lipstick just helps. Beauty products always cheer me up and give me hope. If it makes you feel pretty, why not?”
Lady Gaga wants to be nude on all TV shows because it would be “timeless”.
The 25-year-old singer – who is well known for her love of eccentric clothes, including a dress made entirely of cuts of beef and an outfit made of frosted plastic – has joked if she was nude all the time no one would ever question her fashion credentials because they would never have anything to talk about.
Speaking on her video blog GagaVision, she said: “Maybe we should be more timeless. Maybe we should just wear a classic black suit all the time. Or just nudity? That way it’s always in style! From now on, ‘All television spots I’d like to be nude so that I will always be timeless.’”
The ‘Born This Way’ hitmaker recently revealed she would be starting a side career as a fashion writer for V Magazine from May.
Writing on twitter, she said: “I have some exciting news little monsters. I begin next month as a Fashion+Art Columnist for VMagazine.(sic)”

Angelina Jolie hasn’t been in the limelight for a longtime but over the past month this has changed.
The starlet has been out and about promoting her new film “Salt” wowing us in her outfits as well as showing the world that despite rumours, her and Brad are still very much an item. At the LA Premier of the film Angie opted for a sparkly short black strapless number.
Posing alongside Mr Pitt, the actress showed off her new figure, which has filled out slightly since worrying pictures of her skinny frame appeared in the media a few months back.
She carried on her extraordinary fashion sense at the Comic Con event in a more casual black skirt, which she teamed up with an on-trend leather jacket.
She then opted for a similar black skirt with a satin pink boatneck top for a press call at the Russian premier of the film before changing into a red ballgown frock to walk the red carpet. We’re sure Brad was very impressed Ange.
The festival season has well and truly begun with many heading to Glastonbury over the next few days. Although the weather is predicted to stay warm, there’s always the risk of rain (well it wouldn’t be Glasto without it) so we’ve decided to put together a gallery of festival boots for those travelling up to the festival on Friday.
However, take note other festival goers because this will also come in handy throughout the summer and for other festivals.
And even if it doesn’t rain, it’s a well known fashion fact that wellies are a hot must-have for these events. Team them up with little shorts and skirts for a perfect festival look.
Lady Gaga made many of her “little monsters” bank weekends by returning to the UK and performing in Nottingham, Birmingham and London as part of her rescheduled Monster Ball tour.
The star made an emotional appearance in Nottingham after dedicating a song to her sick granddad. Introducing Brown Eyes, she told the Nottingham crowd: “My grandpa is really, really ill.
“It’s really upsetting me. My grandpa calls me Loopy because he doesn’t understand why I am the way I am.”
However, the star didn’t disappoint in the outfit stakes wearing a range of PVC knickers and bras, leaopard print leotards and white structured dresses as well as a huge number of her trademark headpieces.
We managed to grab a few of the tour piccs showcasing her outfits. Take a look at the gallery and let us know what you think by leaving your comments below.
It seems being a quirky fashion queen is once again taking its toll on Lady Gaga.
According to reports the pop star is so concerned about her outfits she’s beginning to suffer from huge bouts of insomnia.
A source said: “She’s always planning her next outfit and wanting to constantly out-do herself. She never switches off. Ever. She’s well on her way to a breakdown and we’re all worried.”
In fact her sleeping patterns are so bad that Miss G admitted during her last bout of severe insomnia she stayed wide-eyed and wired for three days. Despite this the singer refuses to take any medication to help her visit the land of nod.
“I lie in bed and try to pray and breathe. I have a very overactive mind,” she said.
“I’m the sort of person who would never take medication to calm myself. It’s maddening.
“But I love what comes out. If my destiny is to lose my mind because of fame, then that’s my destiny. My passion means more than anything.”
Lady Gaga’s outfits have caused health concerns before and it was only last month that we reported that the popstar had risked her health by wearing a tight outfit on a long haul flight.
Miss G, we love your fashion and we’ve had the occasional night where we’ve been awake teaming jeans and tops up in our heads, but really, your next crazy outfit is not worth losing sleep over.
Let’s face it, there is nothing normal about Lady Gaga.
She’s got the quirkiest style going and an amazing voice to top it off. And it seems everyone is just as in awe as we are with her.
Far from shying away from the singer‘s funky fashion sense, designers such as Armani, Viktor & Rolf and of course, the late Alexander McQueen, have lined up to create outfits for this style icon. And they’ve also dressed her to perfection in terms of her style.
We’ve decided to put together a gallery of Ms G’s most outrageous outfits to show how wacky she is. Let us know your favourite one by leaving your comments below.
