When Lela Rose sent her “sporty cocktail” fall 2008 collection down the runway at New York Fashion Week, she wasn’t just showing off the clothes. On the models feet were designs from Lela Rose’s fall 08 shoe collection for Payless, her fifth exclusive line for the mass retailer.
A tote bag given out at the show read “I Heart Shoes,” and Rose says she loves shoes “because even one new pair can bring life to any wardrobe.”
Most of the shoes in this collection should be under $45 and will be available in Payless stores in August.

I’ve recently caught sight of Payless’ spring 2008 collection and it is hot! The new Abaete for Payless and Fioni collections are very chic, and the premiering Lela Rose and Alice + Olivia footwear is stunning. Lela Rose is featuring sophisticated large polka dot prints and plenty of patent and linen. Alice + Olivia is brightening things up with abounding color. I’m so glad that throughout the spring footwear showcases, patent continues well into spring and summer. Above are some delicious samples I received from Payless, and stay tuned for photos of the rest of their spring lineup to come. These gorgeous Fioni black patent leather Mary Janes have received countless compliments, and the shining red patent clutch goes perfectly with a sexy little black dress.

Designer Lela Rose’s shoe/handbag collection for Payless has launched and is available in stores and online now. Texas-bred Lela Rose graduated from Parsons in 1993. After graduation, Rose worked for Richard Tyler before starting her own line in 1996. Rose says of her work, “My philosophy of design is about creating beautiful, hand finished clothes that exude a casual luxury and refinement.” Rose’s clothing is sold at luxury retailers like Bergdorf Goodman, but you can find Rose-designed items at a much, much cheaper price at good ol’ Payless. Highlights of the line include a pair of Victorian-inspired ankle boots for US$40. Keep reading for another of our faves.

I am a huge boot fan, so whenever the weather starts to cool off, I try to pick up a few new pairs. Not only are boots are great way to turn an average outfit into a complete look, they’re also more comfortable than pumps and the knee-high ones are great for covering up your legs, whether you’re too lazy to shave or they’re just your least favorite body part. For knee-high boots, try a pair of gray Melinda boots (left), only $80 at Bakersshoes.com. Gray is super in this season, so match them with a gray chunky knit sweater or scarf. For a more dressed up look, go with this pair of Michela boots (right) from Aldo for $180. The shiny silver zipper reminds me of the exposed zipper dress seen on Chloe’s fall runway
