Prada will launch a museum for 24 hours on Tuesday (24.01.12). The Italian fashion label has worked with Milan-based artist and satirist Francesco Vezzoli to create the pop up venue at the historic Palais d’Iena in Paris, which will be divided into three sections; historic, contemporary and forgotten.
The festivities will begin with an invitation-only dinner on January 24 before the space turns into an exclusive nightclub visible online at www.24hoursmuseum.com and then opens to the public on Wednesday (25.01.12).
Speaking about the initiative, where he will show his personal tribute to femininity through interpretations of classical sculptures that make reference to contemporary divas – Francesco explained to vogue.co.uk: “They are my icons turned into sculptures and placed on marble pedestals.”
The museum will close on January 25 at 8.30 pm when the 24-hour period comes to an end.
Prada caused a sensation on Sunday (15.01.12) when Miuccia Prada – who has been at the helm of the Italian fashion house since 1978 – recruited some of Hollywood’s hottest stars, including Jamie, Adrien Brody, William Defoe and Gary Oldman, to model the autumn/winter menswear collection at Milan Fashion Week.

Christmas outfits, Gallery, Top Five, Trend Alert
By Andrea Petrou on December 19th, 2011
Love it or loathe it snakeprint has slithered from associations with Scary Spice and ‘Ender’s Kat Slater into this season, making it one of the hottest trends to be seen it.
Prada showcased this print in its AW 2011 catwalk in the shape of shoes, plastic garish coats mixed with fur, while Chloe showed off something that little bit more subtle with this trend appearing in floaty chiffon frocks.
Go for the bright look – we’re talking pinks, blues and oranges – shown at Angelo Marani, keep it subtle with creams or go all out with 70s inspired snakeprint trousers.
Whatever you choose you’ll be bang on this season’s trend.
See the gallery below for all the designer inspiration.

Blackheart Epic Coloured Faux Fur Coat
Fashion-lovers, there’s an incredibly soft and snuggly winter ahead of us as this season it’s going to be all about making like a wild beast and swathing yourself in layers of the softest, shaggiest fur you can find.
Plenty of designers took inspiration from animals this season, from confusing yet pretty fur strips among round iridescent sequins at Prada, while the Olsen girls used The Fantastic Mr Fox as a source of inspiration for their wild-looking draped furs which were teamed with crisp autumnal colours and stark make-up. Fur (faux, of course) always has and always will be an impossibly glamorous way to keep warm during the winter, but this season fur has a darker, moodier edge – think of coats that look like musky old animal skins and mythical creatures for this season.
Long distressed fur is one of our absolute favourite textures for this season, so if you find the perfect shaggy coat or bag, don’t walk past it. These heavy, animalistic textures are all about making a big statement, so just one piece will give your stark winter wardrobe an automatic update. We’re a huge fan of Blackheart’s coats, which you can find at Asos and in the gallery above – especially their deep plum-coloured fur coat that would look amazing with a simple black dress and dark makeup for a dramatic winter look.
If you’re keen on making a bold statement you should consider spurning realistic faux furs for something a little brighter for a dramatic, unusual look – we are absolutely in love with Ana Konda’s designs for Asos, which include some amazing bright scarlet furs. Check them out – they’d look incredible with bright lipstick.
If you’re hesitant to go all-out and deck yourself out like a wild animal, however, you can still channel the trend with a furry accessory or a piece with a simple fur trim without needing to go the whole hog. River Island is brilliant for fur collars, bags and shoes – we seriously recommend that you stop by their site to see what they’ve got.
To see our favourite fur pieces on the high street, check out the gallery above.

Alessandra Facchinetti has been the creative brains behind both Gucci and Valentino
Lovers of high fashion everywhere will be excited to hear about Alessandra Facchinetti, ex-creative director of both Gucci and Valentino, launching a new fashion label in collaboration with Pinko called “Uniqueness”. Alessandra promises us interesting and creative new concepts that aren’t produced within the traditional season divide of Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter.
Alessandra says of her new brainchild, “I’m excited to have the chance to work on such an innovative and unconventional project, where the freedom to interpret the times effectively becomes the brand’s DNA.” We’re excited too, Al!
The designer certainly has all the right fashion credentials to start anew with a completely new label. Facchinetti has not only been creative director for two of Europe’s most legendary fashion houses, Gucci and Valentino, but also got one of the best career kick-starts ever when she got her first break working at Miu Miu. So, she’s more than qualified for this new project, no?
The first “Uniqueness” collection is tipped to be shown in Paris soon – keep an eye out. We can’t wait to see what Alessandra comes up with.

With bold colours being hot this season, it was only a matter of time before we saw this trend filter through to our footwear – something that was shown on the catwalks of Prada.
One colour that’s really made a stand in our shoes is red. Known for being an all round seasonal colour – as well as the iconic hue of Dorothy’s shoes – this colour is set to be huge, getting a big foot in the fashion footwear door this season. It’s already been spotted on heels, sandals, platforms and peep toes, as well as gracing the feet of many a celeb.
Spotted in this trend so far is Alexa Chung, Katy Perry, Blake Lively and Leighton Meester. Taylor Swift also showed how to wear contrasting bolds when she turned up in a bright yellow dress and red shoes for an appearance on a television show. Kylie Minogue went the other way showing us how to spice up that classic black dress with a bit of colour. We’re ordering our red shoes right now.
See the gallery below for all the celebrities wearing this colour.

Bird prints of all shapes and sizes have flown into the highstreet this season thanks to designer influences from Bottega, Marc Jacobs and Prada.
Of course we’re used to nature prints, which always seem to crawl out for spring, but this season’s bird prints, which give a nod to the 70s have spread their wings on shift dresses, tops and wide legged trousers.
Some are bright coloured, while others are that little bit more subtle, and if you’re a fan of this trend then you’re in good celebrity company with the likes of Alexa Chung, Rihanna and Lily Allen all sporting this look.
Here’s our top five faves.

Designer Fashions, designer pick of the week, Designers, Gallery
By emilyborrett on April 8th, 2011
Carrying on with our galleries of some of our greatest designers of the moment, we’re getting in touch with our fabulously Italian sides today and shining the spotlight on Miu Miu, the diffusion line of Miuccia Prada and one of the biggest labels in fashion en ce moment. Infamous for their devilishly girly designs, with more than a dash of blatant sexuality in a naughty “Lolita” way, Miu Miu is the label to love if you like your fashion frothy and playful.
Anyone who’s anyone has been seen out in recent years in one of their deliciously eccentric designs – their speciality seems to have become fun, sugary prints that are great for wearing if you want to go out and play. Everyone from Victoria Beckham to Daisy Lowe was seen last year in their Spring/Summer swallow-printed dresses with the cheeky cutaway panels which revealed a lot of beautiful skin – you know you’re doing something right if both fashion’s first lady and a scruffy edgy thing like Daisy are angling to wear your dresses.
Another favourite of ours recently have been their gorgeous kitten-printed blouses, complete with sparkling Swarovski detail. I know that on paper it sounds hideous and OTT but when in reality was a piece of fashion magic – a reflection on a world that now welcomes the kitsch and the silly with open arms. And why shouldn’t it?
Their most recent collection has been a bit more muted, with overcoats and dresses in burnt umber and oranges, but the ornate Miu Miu attention to detail remains, with beautifully stitched and printed oriental-style florals creeping up hemlines and sleeves.
Miu Miu, we love you! Passionately! Check out the gallery above to see our favourite moments from Miu Miu since 2006.

Designer Fashions, Designers, Gallery, London fashion week, Milan Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week - Runway, Paris Fashion Week

By Emily Borrett.
Carrying on from our top 10 fashion moments of 2010, I’m looking at some of the highlights of the various Fashion Weeks that have happened this year. From Alexander McQueen’s first runway show under the direction of Sarah Burton, to the oil-slick punk aesthetic at Balenciaga and classic Parisian style at Chanel, each show has been a joy to cover. But when I got down to it and racked my brains for all the collections I’ve pored over in the last year, I’ve found that the five collections in the gallery below have been particularly special. Check them out below. If you have any other collections this year that you think especially deserve a mention, have your say and leave us a comment below.
5. Christian Dior SS2011
Everything about this collection was just somuch fun. John Galliano breathed new life into the 1950s sexpot pin-up style of dress, with bright cherry and blue colours, neon makeup and cheeky sailor hats. If this is how everyone is going to look on the beaches next year (and we hope they do) then it's going to be a very silly, fun summer.
