“Dreamgirls” singer Jennifer Hudson is having trouble finding a publisher for her weight-loss book.
Jennifer Hudson first stole our hearts when she hogged all of Beyonce’s limelight in the 2006 musical Dreamgirls, in which she played the fabulously curvy and fierce Effie White. A well-known poster girl for curvier women, Hollywood was godsmacked recently by her dramatic weight-loss, and while we were sad to trade in our curvy SuperJen for a leaner, lither version, we have to admit that she’s looking incredible.
But the actress and singer is having a really hard time trying to sell the rights of her new diet book to publishers in the States. Jen wants $1million for the deal – but she’ll be hard pressed to get that, considering that publishers are only interested in the book if it includes her account of the well-publicised murder of her family three years ago. Call us a bore but we think that’s probably something Jen doesn’t want to cash in on, or lightly mention amongst her lists of low-carbohydrate breakfasts.
A figure at one of the aforementioned publishing companies said on the matter: “It was disappointing. Her book about her diet is really appealing and wonderful. But if you spend a lot of money on the book deal, you want it to sell. With no talk of her family, we didn’t think it was worth it.” It seems that some people have no boundaries when it comes to cashing in on other people’s tragedies.
Keep your chin up, Jen. You’re an inspiration to women everywhere and ShinyStyle loves you.
