Chanel’s Croisiere 2012/2013 Collection Show

By Andrea Petrou on May 15th, 2012

We heart Chanel and jump at any opportunity to lust after the brand’s iconic designs.

And Karl Largerfeld’s Chanel’s Croisiere 2012/2013 collection, attended by muse Vanessa Paradis, is just as breathtaking as the previous ranges.

Giving a nod to the Victorian era, the collection comprised of structured shoulders, big hats and cute tweed jackets.

Away from this look playful sheer fabrics gave a nod to the brand’s iconic look, whilst little shorts, military jackets and florals bought the collection slap bang into this era.

See our fave pics of the range in the gallery below.

Nicole Richie designing a fashion line for QVC

By Andrea Petrou on November 14th, 2011

Nicole Richie is designing a fashion line for QVC.

The 30-year-old designer will further expand her work with a “cute” range of clothing for the home shopping network, which will launch in February.

A source told Usmagazine.com: “The line is cute – it can be worn by teeny-tiny girls but also goes up to size XXXL. Nicole has a great fashion sense, and she’s very hands-on.”

The launch of the line will tie in with the premiere of reality TV show ‘Fashion Star’, on which Nicole – who has a line of womenswear called Winter Kate, an accessories line called House of Harlow 1960 and Nicole, her maternity collection – acts as a mentor for aspiring designers.

The reality TV star – who was recently named Influencer of the Year at Accessories Council Excellence (ACE) Awards for House of Harlow 1960 – recently said she designs for women who are not “afraid to take risks” and enjoy having “fun” with their wardrobes.

Describing her typical customer, she said: “[She is] a multitasker, a woman who wears many hats, someone who isn’t afraid to take risks and have fun with fashion.”

By Andrea Petrou on June 3rd, 2011

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wants her own jewellery line.

The 24-year-old model has made her first foray into acting with the lead role in ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ but plans to return to fashion eventually, though is keen to develop her interests in the business side of the industry.

She said: “I hope to have my own jewellery line, plus lingerie and cashmere.

“That’s where I see myself in five or 10 years. Designing.”

Rosie – who is dating actor Jason Statham – admits she has made fashion mistakes in the past and tries to keep her style as simple as possible.

She told Britain’s Elle magazine: “I see pictures sometimes and go, ‘What was I thinking?’

“I don’t want someone to look at the dress before they look at me. I try not to spend too much. I like those mid-range labels and they’re much less trend based so they last forever.”

Jessica Simpson and Ashlee Simpson are teaming up for a new clothing line.

The singing sisters are to collaborate on a line of tween apparel featuring sportswear, denim and activewear in their first fashion venture together, which will be part of the Jessica Simpson Collection.

Jessica – whose fashion empire is set to be worth an estimated $1 billion this year – told WWD: “Creating a tween apparel collection was a natural extension for the brand. I’m excited to bring my sister, Ashlee, along as co-creative director of this division, because she brings a savvy rocker edge that defines today’s tweens.”?

Ashlee hopes her venture into fashion will be inspirational for young girls wanting to experiment with their personal style.

She said: “My goal as co-creative director will be to design clothes that will help inspire young girls to express their personalities and creativity through fashion.”

Jessica is set to see her empire expand further this year, with new ready-to-wear and career separates lines also planned.

Christian Louboutin designing shoe range inspired by gay Welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas

By Andrea Petrou on March 8th, 2011

Christian Louboutin is designing a shoe range inspired by gay Welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas.

The legendary footwear maker is close friends with the sportsman – who came out in 2009 – and the pair reportedly met for lunch in Cardiff last month to discuss the new collection, which will be called ‘Alfie’, Gareth’s nickname.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Christian is working on a casual shoe range, with Gareth as the main inspiration. He’s really chuffed about it.”

While Christian has a popular menswear line and last year designed a range of sneakers with DJ Swizz Beatz, he is more famous for his high-heeled designs – which are a favourite among a host of celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss.

He has previously revealed he measures how good his shoes are by what they look like on a naked woman.

He said: “The ultimate must still look good when a woman is naked. The design that encapsulates my career is the Pigalle, a low-cut, high-heeled pump. It’s so subtle in that it adds something sexy to the body, but you don’t immediately realise that it’s the shoe that is making the difference.”
