By Andrea Petrou on February 13th, 2012

Last night was a fashion gals dream with two main A-list events attracting celebrities to the red carpets.

Over in LA the music world including Katy Perry, who turned up in a blue long lace fishtail frock, and Rihanna who went for a backless black number, walked the style parade at the Grammy awards.

They were joined by Taylor Swift, who looked great in a gold high neck sleeved lace fishtail dress, and Nicki Minaj who took Lady Gaga’s extreme fashion place in a red satin cape. She accessorised her look with her very own Pope.

Over in blighty making a more sophisticated entrance was Meryl Streep who went for a black dress at the BAFTAs.

She was joined by Michelle Williams who went for a 50s dress with a white bodice and black skirt complete with a corsage.

Christina Hendricks showed off her hour glass figure in a black fishtail number while Penelope Cruz added some colour in a wine red strapless straight dress.

See all the style in the gallery below.

‘New Year’s Eve’ premiere fashion off: Jessica Biel vs. Lea Michele in Valentino

By Elisabeth on December 9th, 2011

With a star-studded cast list as ‘New Year’s Eve’ it could be difficult for the leading ladies to stand out from the crowd. One way of ensuring they get equal time in the spotlight is to give them one premiere each, which is just what director Garry Mashall did. So while Lea Michele – of  Glee fame – walked the red carpet with Ashton Kutcher in Los Angeles, Jessica Biel dazzled the crowds in New York City.

Both Lea and Jessica opted to wear a champagne coloured dress with shimmery detailing by Valentino but while Jessica chose the demure approach, Lea went for a dramatic, plunging neckline that certainly made jaws drop (including Ashton’s). Snaps for bringing out the Old Hollywood glamour, girls!

We can’t decide which one we like better, can you?

Salma Hayek was devastated when she was banned from wearing high-heels.

By Andrea Petrou on October 26th, 2011

Salma Hayek was devastated when she was banned from wearing high-heels.

The Mexican actress tore two ligaments in her foot last year and as part of her recovery she had to forgo her beloved stilettos, a wardrobe restriction she struggled with.

During an appearance on ‘The David Letterman Show’, the 5ft 1in beauty said: “The worst part about it is you can’t wear heels. You’ve never been a Mexican short woman! This is tragic. I often say, had it not been for high heels, I would still be in Coatzacoalcos with 10 kids!”

Salma, 45, says doctors are keen for her to undergo surgery to correct her foot, but says she’s too scared to.

She revealed: “They want me to have surgery but I’m not keen. I don’t like surgery.”

And it’s not just surgery on her foot that Salma is worried about.

The 45-year-old star – who has a four-year-old daughter Valentina, with husband Francois-Henri Pinault – says cosmetic surgery gives her the “heebie-jeebies”.

She said: “When I was 16, I looked 19. When I was 19, I looked 25. But I got stuck on 25 – thank God! – until I was 35. So that was good. But it’s also important to take care of your skin because if you’re not careful, one day you’ll wake up and a spider will have taken over your face and you’ll be full of lines.

“I have no Botox. The thought of a needle coming to my forehead, it really gives me the heebie-jeebies. So I’d rather put on my creams. It’s fun, it smells good, and it’s relaxing. Am I opposed to doing it later? I don’t know. I want to see how far I can go.”

The Q Awards: Jessie J, Pam Hogg and more

By Andrea Petrou on October 25th, 2011

London took on a rock theme last night as the stars came out for the Q Awards. Leading the fashion was Jessie J who turned up in a trademark black bodysuit, tights and a biker jacket.

She was followed by Lana Del Rey who also sported the biker jacket over a white and yellow frock.

The Pierces went all girly in velvet frocks and Laura Whitmore also played it safe in  denim. However, Pam Hogg who vamped up the night in a black PVC number in a figure we would kill for.

Giles Deacon wants to dress One Day actress Anne Hathaway and Hollywood icon Lauren Bacall

By Andrea Petrou on October 12th, 2011

Giles Deacon would love to dress Anne Hathaway.

The British designer – who has previously worked with Kelly Brook and Victoria Beckham in the past – is keen to work with the One Day beauty because he likes her look.

He said: “We’ve never dressed Anne Hathaway. She has an amazing presence and I think she’s a pretty good actress.

Anne is not the only star the 41-year-old sartorialist is particularly keen to work with, with Lauren Bacall named as his all-time style icon.

He said: “Lauren Bacall would be really interesting to dress. She’s a Hollywood legend and was married to Humphrey Bogart, so you wouldn’t mess with her. She’d let you know very clearly what she has after and you’d willingly do it.”

Discussing his own style, Giles admits he loves to splash out on designer suits.

He added to Now magazine: “I’m terrible at buying things for myself. As you can tell, I dress a bit like a tramp!I really like Yves Saint Laurent men’s suits and Tom Ford suits and ties. I’d really love a Tom Ford dressing gown. That’d be worth maxing out my credit card.”

Kate Bosworth has an “effortless approach” to style says her stylist

By Andrea Petrou on October 4th, 2011

Kate Bosworth has an “effortless approach” to fashion.

The stunning actress is often voted one of the world’s best-dressed women and her stylist, Cher Coulter, believes it’s because she has fun with what she wears and is willing to be risky.

Cher told People: “She’s got this effortless approach to style, and never overdoes it. She’s also fun and fashionable and willing to take risks. She’s simple, chic and always looks happy in what she’s wearing.”
Cher also says Kate can look good in both casual and smart clothes because she has the face and body to carry it off.

She said: “We like to get creative with current trends, but Kate has to feel good and comfortable.

“Kate loves denim because it’s easy and casual. She always wears denim to remain comfy while running around town. On the flip side, she also loves to dress up denim by pairing it with a silky button-up and a necklace slung just under the shirt collar. Kate’s a chameleon – she can wear anything!”

British TV Choice Awards red carpet highlights

By Elisabeth on September 14th, 2011

While we wait for Fashion Week to roll into London town with its mix of models, bloggers, celebrities and journalists running around the city in heels (or will it be flats this year?) we’ve decided to take a closer look at last nights British TV Choice Awards. The awards are nothing like the Emmy’s or even the Razzies, but it does bring out the soap celebs who are usually seen on a very small screen near you.

This year Doctor Who’s Karen Gillian was our favourite – despite her looking quite moody – in a crystal embellished nude-dress and smokey eyes. As far as highlights go there weren’t too many… Claire from Steps wore a 50′s style dress but looked more like a wicked witch than Mad Men-esque. Speaking of Mad Men, we love – LOVE – Christina Hendricks and while Chloe Simms might have been trying to copy Hendrick’s recent décolletage last night she just ended up looking like the Jordan wannabe she is.

Check out the gallery below for some more red carpet choices.
