By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on January 25th, 2009

It looks like the television stars were told to arrive at the Screen Actor’s Guild awards early, so we’re still waiting for a lot of the big movie nominees to step out of their limos. So here’s what a lot of TV’s loveliest ladies are wearing and a few movie stars too!

Jennifer Morrison (nominee, ensemble drama cast for House) – Ann Valerie Hash
Katrina Bowden (nominee, ensemble comedy cast for 30 Rock) – Christian Siriano – what up Project Runway!
Melissa Leo (nominee, female lead actor for Frozen River) – vintage/Bulgari/Judith Leiber
Holly Hunter (nominee, female actor drama for Saving Grace) – Reem Acra
Jane Krakowski – (nominee, ensemble comedy cast for 30 Rock) – Roberto Cavalli – which she knows because she was texting “her people” as she arrived and the cameras caught her!
Emily Blunt (presenter) – beautiful slinky silver number which the E! hosts failed to ask her to identify, we’re working on it! But she did mention that it was like full body Spanx.
America Ferrera (female actor comedy for Ugly Betty) – Vera Wang

Golden Globes 2009: Reem Acra on a roll

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on January 11th, 2009

Reem Acra dressed a bevy of ladies on the red carpet of the Golden Globe awards, including Olivia Wilde (House), Rumer Willis (Miss Golden Globe) and Eva Longoria, above. Wilde’s and Willis’ dresses are a bit similar, the same purple color family even. But Eva Longoria really stands out in a more structural red gown.

Marc Bouwer, Reem Acra and Isabela Toledo sketch the Obamas’ inauguration outfits

By Kimberley Foster on November 13th, 2008

Right now “it’s every designer’s dream to dress Michelle Obama,” according to Marc Bouwer. The New York designer was asked by PEOPLE to sketch their creations for the future First Lady and family, if they were ever offered the opportunity. Bouwer’s design (above) takes inspiration from Michelle’s “modern approach to dressing.”

“She’s probably the most body-conscious dresser out of any First Lady we’ve had, and her clothes have a more modern silhouette,” he said. “The designer who gets this will snag a major part of history. This will be remembered now and for forever.”

New York Fashion Week Spring 2009: Reem Acra

By Andrea Thatcher on September 11th, 2008

Reem Acra collage 1.jpg

Reem Acra’s Spring 2009 collection was all about vibrantly bright colors and semi-precious stone detailing – sound like a fairy tale? Indeed many of the looks did look straight-out of a fairy tale, but not in a good way. A chunk of the collection with its abundance of embroidery, uber bright fuchsias, sea blues, apple reds and gold veered towards the costume and even tacky costume at that.

Spring brights were blooming at the Grammy Awards tonight, with several songstresses donning bold color. Corinne Bailey Rae wore a short, electric blue frock, as did Rihanna in Zac Posen. In a violent violet, Natasha Bedingfield seems to be enjoying her Reem Acra gown. And lastly, Fergie set off her tan with a yellow Calvin Klein number.

“Heroes” of fashion: Kristen Bell, Ali Larter, and Hayden Panettiere have the power to impress

By Andrea Thatcher on September 16th, 2007

The women of “Heroes” looked young and fresh at the Emmy Awards tonight, and really added to the excitement for the show’s impending return. New to the cast is Kristen Bell,at left, who hinted to E that her superpower will be something electric while trading witty reparte with another Kristin favorite of ours. Maybe her best-kept secret as underage supersleuth Veronica Mars (may she rest in peace) was hiding her hotness. Hayden Panettiere, far right, chose perhaps the riskiest selection, the golden Marc Bouwer gown might be a little too baby-doll, but at her age she can pull it off. Then, knocking the little girls out of the ring, at center, with her va-va-voom Reem Acra ensemble is Ali Larter. Killer dress, babe, it almost makes up for your killer powers on the show.

New York Fashion Week: Reem Acra–color fabulous!

By Andrea Thatcher on September 10th, 2007

Reem Acra really made a showing with her beautiful array of colors–from tulip (a deep canary yellow) to peacock (a bright Kelly green) to Orchid (a gorgeous shade of dark purple) to bright cherry red. Not to mention her designs–so incredibly classy and chic, I want them all! Polka dots were also a big theme throughout her collection, from large to small, as well as large floral rose print. Go to the jump for more Reem Acra spring styles, and a shot of the designer herself.
