Georgia May Jagger attributes her fashion sense to her rock and roll parents

By emilyborrett on September 7th, 2011

The gap-toothed supermodel Georgia May Jagger has revealed that her superstar parents, Jerry Hall and Mick Jagger, have had a lot of influence over her fashion sense.

When it comes to inheriting vintage treasures from your parents, you’re not going to be in a much better position than Georgia, whose mum Jerry Hall was an iconic supermodel of the 70s and whose father was the frontman of the Rolling Stones.

She said: “I wear jeans every day. I like to wear them with T-shirts and boots, or when I go out with heels. I’ve inherited more of my mother’s style, I wear a lot of her clothes but my father also has a great sense of style. Mum gives me lots of stuff from her Studio 54 days, like sequined hot pants.” My mum gave me a jumper with Felix the Cat knitted on it, but whatever.

Georgia’s inherited love of style has obviously been a major influence over her career, as she’s just released her own collection of denim designs for Hudson jeans. But the model has one warning for us girls – when it comes to fashion, follow your own tastes instead of the trends. She said: “Wear what makes you feel fabulous, don’t just follow trends. Fashion is a great way to express yourself. It’s also been amazing to be given the opportunity to create my own collection with Hudson that show styles I really love.”

Avril Lavigne to show her new collection at New York Fashion Week

By emilyborrett on August 24th, 2011

I literally never thought I’d have to write this, but apparently Avril Lavigne is set to show her latest collection for her clothing line, Abbey Dawn, at New York Fashion Week next month. … Seriously, guys? Really?

The show, which will happen on September 12th at the Style 360-Metropolitan Pavilion, will show her new collection which includes dresses, denim, sunglasses and handbags. The press release promises the event to be a “high-energy runway show”, but if her past designs, which have a majorly unappealing Ed Hardy vibe, are anything to go by then I think I’ll give this one a miss, thanks.

The “Girlfriend” singer recently spoke out about her new-found interest in fashion. “When I was younger, I dressed skater and had that whole thing going on. But as I grew up, I eventually started wearing heels and dresses. Over time, fashion choices change. Now that I’m older and have a fashion line, I’m more into fashion. I like to dress with rock ‘n’ roll elements and be casual. I like jeans with rips and skulls, but now I wear more flattering pieces. I would never have worn heels or tight trousers before, or dresses. Today, though, I enjoy it. I’ve grown up.”

Balmain’s new diffusion line is set to hit stores in December

By emilyborrett on July 27th, 2011

The luxury label Balmain is most well-known for its opulent and glitzy designs

It looks like it’s time for label-lovers to start saving up their pennies and stretch out their overdrafts that teeny bit further, as high-powered superlabel Balmain announces the launch of its new diffusion line, Pierre Balmain, will happen in December.

The diffusion line aims to target a younger, more on-the-pulse market with a collection of more affordable pieces, stocking knitwear, basic tees, denim and tailoring for both men and women. When we say more affordable, it’s not that affordable, with some of the more glamorous pieces coming in at  a cool £795, but we’re still going to want a piece of the action, even if we can only afford a T-shirt.

The director of Balmain, Alain Hivelin, said on the new label’s launch: “We see Pierre Balmain as a new and distinct brand that is inspired by the successes and history of a great house, but offers a look and product that respond to the needs and desires of today’s marketplace…. Our goal is to position Pierre Balmain as a new global brand that will be established in all the key international markets.”

To us, Balmain has always been the wild child at Paris Fashion Week – always fabulously over the top and rock and roll with sprayed-on silhouettes and brilliant metallics. Can we expect the same from their diffusion line, or will we be surprised? Watch this space.

Max C launches a range of bags to fit in with this season’s trends

By Andrea Petrou on September 16th, 2009

Max c.jpgOn Monday we bought you shoes with studs to give you the rock and roll look of the coming season.

But we all know shoes without accessories don’t really do much, especially if it’s without a bag. Thankfully we have found a range of these that will match the shoes and this season’s style perfectly.

The new collection from Max C includes a range of different handbags in different colour leathers and styles including retro. There is also trend fringing, studs, pleats and chain straps.

But we think this bag (pictured) would work brilliantly for a rock and roll studded look.
