The couture shows are in full fashion flow and over the next few days we’ll be bringing you all our fave styles from the likes of Miu Miu, Gucci and Chanel.
However, today our beady little style eyes are firmly focusing on Versace’s latest offerings, which this year have given a huge nod to the spangly seventies.
Short sequined frocks in golds, yellows and whites marched down the catwalk, while there was also a touch of the 80s Wonderwoman look with a cute futuristic silver leotard.
Contrasting with these fun, minimal styles were long luscious lace and beaded frocks, which epitomised Versace’s classic Hollywood style.

With the winter weather and party season in full swing, capes are a great alternative to that thick coat.
Given a push from the 20s and 30s into one of today’s must-haves these little warmers are great teamed up with a classic LBD, over a vest top worn with skinny jeans and also a cute pleated skirt.
Go all Strictly Come Dancing and pick sequins or feathers or give a nod to the equestrian look with checks and sheepskin.

The Christmas party season is definitely a fun one, but definitely a bit of a chore when it comes to reinventing old tried and true party outfits. (I’ve had to be extremely creative over the past few weeks vis-a-vis hair and accessories over the past couple of weeks in an attempt to stop people noticing I’m just wearing the same thing over and over.) What’s more, now is not the time for us normal people to go a bit bonkers and daring with our party outfits.
With Christmas drinks, carbohydrate binges and full days spent on the sofa eating at their annual peak, now is not the time to wear that amazing body-con dress that you’ve been wanting to wear out for ages – unless you’re Gisele or Elle McPherson, you’ll spent the whole evening in the corner self-consciously holding your handbag against your middle, trying to hide your winter tummy and worrying if your nude embellished tights do your legs any favours. I beg of you – this is the season that little black dresses and opaques were made for. Familiar? Yes. Done before? Maybe. Boring? Certainly not.
Don’t bother getting a new dress – spend your money on accessories instead that will give your wardrobe a whole new lease of life and have you party-ready in seconds. In the gallery below are ten of our favourite party shoes, from the cheap to the up-market – we especially love New Look’s scarlet silk heels, which wouldn’t look out of place at a 1930s cocktail party, and the stunning sci-fi-esque gold heels from Carvela. We’re liking Pixie Lott, alot (sorry) at the moment. Her tunes are sassy and she’s leant her talents to a range of charitable clothing, which looks absolutely amazing.
So it’s no surprise that she’s been snapped for the cover of UK InStyle magazine. Pixie wears a range of this years hottest styles pulling off sequins, lace and military effortlessly
And it seems she’s also a true fashionista. During an interview with the magazine she said: “I’ve always been into fashion. My sister is exactly the same. We get it from our mum. She used to dress us in designer stuff when we were little.”

Some watch Strictly for the dance moves – and some watch it for the dresses. We probably watch it for both, but the dresses are pretty spectacular. Custom made and often in eye-popping bright colours, each dress worn by the female dancers is sold after the series for up to £1,600. If you fancy wowing fellow party-goers in the upcoming Christmas party season why not take some inspiration from the series.
Look out for features like cut-outs, full skirts, asymmetry, corsages, feathers and sequins, just not all at once. We’ve put together a gallery of the whole range of looks, from full-on glamour to slightly more toned-down styles.
