Asda launches range of clothing with built in shapewear to eliminate those embarrassing Bridget Jones moments

By Andrea Petrou on January 12th, 2010

Asda shapewear.jpgWe know we’ve covered shapewear quite a bit this year, but unless you know of some miracle diet (email us sharpish if you do please) we know, like us, many of you will still be showing a few signs of that post-Christmas bulge.

So we couldn’t help but tell you about Asda’s new shapewear range with a difference.

Understanding that Bridget Jones moment many of us fear when it comes to big knickers, the supermarket has launched a range of clothing with built-in shapewear, which is said to help give the illusion of a more trim and toned figure by taking an inch and a half off your waist line.

Fiona Lambert, brand director for George said: “There is no need for women to slave away in the gym or diet to achieve the perfect shape.”

And she’s quite right when a range looks as good as this. Choose from a Tummy tamer little black dress (£28) or high-waisted skirt (£16), which we think are far better value than a personal trainer.

Kings Road Sporting Club launches Yummie Tummie shapewear range

By Andrea Petrou on January 5th, 2010

Yummy.jpgIt was only yesterday that we were talking about how good shapewear is for hiding those post Christmas bumps and therefore thought it only fair that we told you about these new pieces from Kings Road Sporting Club.

The Yummie Tummie collection are said to shave 5lbs of your figure through a unique fat squeezing technology and are claimed to get rid of “that muffin top.”

There is a choice of different options including shorts, which can be worn on their own at the gym, a thong, and a range of strappy tops. We particularly like the leopard print one, which gives a nod to this season’s animal print.

If you’re feeling daring we think its perfect teamed up with a pair of jeans or leggings on a night out. Slimming and fashionable, what more could a girl want?

Debenhams launches PeachyBody pants, which are claimed to zap cellulite

By Andrea Petrou on December 2nd, 2009

Pants.jpgWe know we’ve been banging on about sexy undies today, and advising you stay away from the Bridget Jones style undies.

However, we’ve been thinking, and we know, if we had to wear a skimpy dress, after a few days of festive treats and drink we’d want something, that would, well, hold us in.

Therefore, it only seems fair we tell you about Debenhams’ revolutionary cellulite busting pants.

Yes, we know what you’re thinking, it looks like any other shapewear product on the market, but, these PeachyBody pants are claimed to have extra super powers. Not only will they hold you in but, they also claim to miraculously banish that unsightly orange peel, and make your waist, hips, thighs and bottoms appear slimmer, toned and moisturised in just 21 days.

But it’s not a miracle, it’s science that is claimed to do this. Apparently the wonder pants have a wave-weave knit system, which stimulates the skin and massages active ingredients into problem areas.

This includes a combination of peaches (to moisturise), green tea (to act as an antioxidant) and coffee beans (to eliminate excess water). These are said to warm the body and increase circulation of the blood, helping to break down fatty deposits.

And for £25 a pop its a much more sensible and cheaper alternative to going under the knife.

We really like the sound of these, and will definitely be trying them out. Keep reading for a review very soon.

Not doing so well on your fashion week diet? Hide your tummy with Bordeaux

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on August 14th, 2008

Bordeaux.jpg

A lot of shapewear is designed for special events and involves discomfort and contraptions that you would never want to deal with on a daily basis. Plus, those more everyday solutions out there, like Spanx, are usually targetted for the butt, hips, and thighs.

What if a tummy is your problem? Try Bordeaux’s signature S tank – a soft and comfy tank that is built into the brand’s tops and dresses.

It is completely comfortable and just feels like you’re wearing a work out top, and it even controls the girls so on these sweaty days you don’t need to deal with a bra.

Shapewear Report: Part 2 – total body control

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on March 5th, 2008

forming%20dress.jpg

Last week we talked about a few body shapers out there from comfortable, slimming slips to major control Spanx.

This week we’re concentrating on whole body slimmers that claim to take off the inches. First up is the Wolford Forming Dress, $195, available at Saks Fifth Avenue stores. Funny how the model wearing this piece at left not only doesn’t look like she needs slimming, but is also contorted in such a way to make her waist seem as small as possible.

If you can’t walk around sexy-leaning on walls all day, this still might be a good choice. It has bust support, convertable straps, and is one of the better-looking shapewear dresses out there.

Shapewear Report: Part One

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on February 28th, 2008

shapewear.jpg

Tis almost the season for slinky dresses, weddings and formal wear. If you’d like to breathe a little easier about your figure – figuratively, not literally – then shapewear may be a good option.

If you’re afraid of that can’t breathe effect, then the Bordeaux Skinny’z Sexy Suit, $50,
may be for you.

The thin slip dress isn’t going to reduce inches or provide maximum support, but it is smoothing and will provide extra coverage in the see-through fabrics so popular in the latest collections.

For more slimming options, keep reading.

Not your grandmother’s shapewear – Hanes Smooth Illusions Go Figure

By Andrea Thatcher on November 16th, 2007

The Catwalk Queen girls have put together a video on the various shapewear options out there to help you pull of the body concious and bandage dress looks from the runway, and we’ve got further recommendations on what’s available in the states. If you’re not familiar with shapewear (you must be naturally lythe) it’s basically body slimmers and shapers that are the modern solution to the corset and girdle. We’d like to tell you it’s more attractive than a girdle, but if you’re expecting any decent amount of slimming or support, that’s just not the case. But, we can say that most of these products are pretty comfortable, so that’s something. Keep reading for specifics.
