Video: Inside Paris Hilton’s mammoth mansion wardrobe

By Kimberley Foster on June 17th, 2009

MySpace Fashion Presents The FIT with Paris Hilton

Here is something to really make you feel depressed about the recession (sorry!) Paris Hilton opens up her gigantic closet to the folks at MySpace’s The Fit. It reminds me of that scene from Will & Grace when Karen opens up her mammoth wardrobe to show Jack. And if you can look past Paris’s constant posing and flogging of her products, its a real eye-opener. Like an entire closet dedicated to shoes!

Yay or Nay Wednesday: Miu Miu sequin platform pumps

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on January 7th, 2009

DPOTW Miu Miu shoes.jpg

Don’t get us wrong, we love a Miu Miu shoe. But do you love this Miu Miu sequin platform pump, $950? Or, as Cher Horowitz would say, it is a full on Monet?

While the sequins might look less garish from far away, the seemingly random color placement may make the hue look muddled.

What do you think, yay or nay?

Designer Pick of the Week: A Christian Louboutin Simple Pump in a ‘nude’ to fit any skin tone

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on January 6th, 2009

Christian Louboutin simple pump.jpg

We have long touted the leg-lengthening properties of the “nude” pump. The problem is, the color of beige we typically think of as nude only matches one skin tone.

It would be Christian Louboutin who provides the solution. Louboutin’s Simple Pump 85 comes in, yes, a nude version which is a light beige, but also several other colors which will match a whole range of skin tones. Click the link to see them all.

Ladies of any and all colors rejoice! There’s a leg-lengthening, skin-tone matching pump out there for you. And by the shoe master himself. Provided you can spend $575 to $725 on a pair.

Ten fashionable gifts under $100

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on December 11th, 2008

10 under $100 1.jpg

We wrapped up $20 gifts under $200 and are on to the $50-$100 price range. The first thing we looked for? A fab coat for gifting to your favorite girl. We like this Gap plaid belted coat, on sale for $94.99, because the plaid can be a little holiday, a little preppy or a little indie depending on the giftee’s style. It’s a little something different for the girl who usually sticks to pea coats.

Retail Review: Marshall’s Shoe Mega Shop

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on November 20th, 2008

Marshall's Shoe Shop 1.JPG

While I’ve always been a fan of Marshall’s and shop there often, I will say there’s something about shoes mashed together in a less-than-desirable setting that makes you scoff at paying $40 a pair – even if that’s half what they’re sold at elsewhere.

Marshall’s seems to have cottoned on to this fact, and revealed new Marshall’s Shoe Mega Shops earlier this year. Instead of being arranged on no-nonsense shelving according to size, shoes are displayed a lot more like at a designer shoe outlet.

Keep reading for a chance to win a $250 shopping spree!

Yay or Nay Wednesday: John Fluevogs

By Andrea Thatcher on October 22nd, 2008

Fluevog yay or nay.jpg

Our shoe-obsessed sister site Shoewawa has made its feelings known about John Fluevogs, but we’d like to get your take.

If you like a bit of the out of the ordinary, then you should definitely check out their site. The About Fluevog page is a very entertaining read.

They basically feature a lot of gothic and vintage-inspired shoes, like the Sugar boots pictures, $379.

So what do you think, yay or nay?

You won’t believe who made these booties…

By Andrea Thatcher on October 7th, 2008

You by Crocs shoes 003.jpg

A few weeks ago I got an email asking me to review some Crocs. (Darn, now I’ve given it away, eh?) The public relations rep was fully aware of the impression Crocs have made on the fashion community, and even joked about it, assuring me that these were not the plastic clogs seen on 5-year-olds everywhere.

You by Crocs is the brand’s new, “higher end” line of adult footwear with … well, style! There are a ton of trendy boots for fall, almost all made of real leather.

My favorite of the two shoe-booty options are the Twisted Tart booties, $150, seen at left. I wore these walking around First Friday in my city and my feet held up pretty well thanks to extra padding in the ball of the foot and heel.

For people’s reactions and two more styles, keep reading.

Steve Madden kissed a shoe and he liked it

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on September 16th, 2008

What happens when you put Katy Perry and Steve Madden in the same Lower Eastside Steve Madden store? Well you get music and some very cool shoes! Katy Perry performed live at the store to celebrate the launch of www.stevemaddenmusic.com in June and the I had to share this clip because it has the cutest snippet of Steve singing “I kissed a shoe and I liked it” (at about 1:26 seconds) – we can tell Steve, after all you made quite a career out of it.

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on August 11th, 2008

Stella sandals.jpg

There’s a summer sale going on over at IntermixOnline, and we spotted these Stella McCartney floral ankle wrap platform sandals for $259, more than half off!

There are quite a few Stella accessories included in the sale, though the best selection seems to be (predictably) in swim.

Speaking of Stella McCartney, though, click over to Catwalk Queen to read about the ethical designer’s reaction to a bra from her collection being used in a fur ad!

By Andrea Thatcher on July 30th, 2008

Fit Flop 2.jpg

Tons of shoes have come out in the past years claiming that the wearer will lose weight or reap other health benefits simply by wearing the shoe during their everyday activities. Well, podiatrists Dr. Johanna Youner and Dr. Emanuel Sergi are here to weigh in on what works and what doesn’t.

Keep reading for more on the Fit Flop, which Shoewawa reviewed here, Masai Barefoot Technology, Orthotebb Health Shoes and Arcopedico shoes.
