Emma Watson likes natural beauty

By emilyborrett on September 21st, 2011

The Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has admitted that in the past she’s worn far too much makeup – so now, it’s all about the natural look for her. (Though it’s extremely easy to say you prefer natural beauty when you yourself have one of the most perfect faces in Hollywood, eh Emma?)

Emma said: “The funny thing about me is that I do have a lot of products – I’ve always loved make-up and its ability to transform you. But I don’t actually wear a lot of it, so there is an irony that I own so much of it but wear so little. But I do love beauty products. But wearing too much make-up has been my biggest beauty faux-pas. I truly, truly believe that beauty is something that comes from within. You can only really look beautiful if you feel beautiful on the inside. It shows through your face, the way you move and the way you hold yourself.”

Aww, all together girls – YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

And Emma’s best tip for outer beauty (the inner bit we’ll have to figure out ourselves)? “Don’t over-pluck your eyebrows and always take your make-up off before you got to bed.” Sound advice indeed.

Katy Perry claims her good skin is all down to Proactiv skin care

By emilyborrett on August 2nd, 2011

The glam “Friday Night” singer Katy Perry has banished all of her skin problems for good, claiming that it is all down to Proactiv Solution skincare.

Some particularly mean paparazzi have managed to photograph the star make-up free in the past, showing off bumpy and spotty skin, but that seems to be a thing of the past. (To be honest, we can’t really that her skin was ever that bad at all, but you know.)

Katy said about her new, clear skin: “After trying every procedure, facial treatment and product I could find, I finally decided to try Proactiv. I mean, I had nothing to lose except my acne, and I was definitely okay with losing that. Since then, I’ve seen massive changes in my face and my confidence. All of my big, kind of stick-out bumps went flat, my blemishes progressively got smaller and smaller, and even some of my scarring started going away.”

We’ve always admired Katy’s smooth, clear skin, so it’s nice to know that she at least gets normal breakouts sometimes. Having said that, congratulations to the singer – now pass us the Proactiv. If it’s good enough for KP, it’s good enough for us.

BigGreenSmile.com: A little kindness for your skin this summer

By Elaine LaPersonerie on July 19th, 2010

We’re having a pretty good summer this year. So far, where I live it’s rained maybe twice, three times tops? That must be breaking some kind of record for Britain. It’s almost a little bit like we’re all on holiday – legs are coming out, men’s shirts are coming off, people are playing frisbee in their swimming costumes in the park and girls are basically stripping off in public in order to bake themselves as much as possible. But lets face it – while the weather is hot, most of us Brits are not resembling sunkissed Brazilian beauties right now. Instead, most of us (besides a very, very, lucky few) look like little pink prawns. With peely skin. Maybe not so sexy. There’s a simple solution though; be kind to your skin in the first place, and you’ll look healthy, youthful and sexy – Kylie Minogue puts her amazing, teenage-looking complexion down to wearing suncream absolutely everywhere, all the time. However, treat your skin badly and you’ll look like you’ve been lying on the surface of Mars for three weeks.

If you’re feeling a bit too pink at the moment (prawns of the UK, represent) then you should be thinking about giving a little back to your poor, sore skin. BigGreenSmile.com, a natural, eco-friendly beauty brand, have got a range of aloe-vera based creams and skin treatments that are sure to give your body a bit of a kissing-better. For those of you that are unfamiliar with aloe vera, it’s a desert plant that has adapted itself to cope with intense heat and sun exposure by storing moisture in its’ leaves. The gel stored up inside the plant’s leaves have natural soothing qualities that are good for relieving symptoms of sunburn, and also encourages faster healing.

There are vitamins in the skin treatments that are natural antioxidants that will prevent signs of ageing (no one wants to be wrinkly at the age of 20), work as a barrier against sun damage and make your skin all lovely and supple. So we can all feel lovely and smug when we put it on, in the knowledge that we’re gonna look hot forever, a bit like those ladies in the adverts for Simple Skincare.

The great thing about BigGreenSmile’s products is that they’re both eco-friendly and purse-friendly. Instead of shelling out for a really expensive aftersun, which probably won’t work anyway, an aloe-vera based product from BGS won’t set you back any more than a tenner. Gisele Bündchen launches eco-friendly skincare line

By Andrea Petrou on March 15th, 2010

We all dream of model clear skin (obviously the one without the airbrushing) and now, there may be a teeny tiny chance that we might get our wish.

Supermodel Gisele Bündchen has launched her first skincare line, Sejaa Pure Skincare, which is said to be completely eco-friendly.

It will use ‘all-natural ingredients, thoughtful packaging and recycled paper.’

We think this is a great launch into a different side of the fashion and beauty for the model who became a mum last year. But fans of Gisele needn’t worry, she won’t be hanging up her catwalk shoes just yet. This year seems to be a big one for her.
