ShinyStyle Watch: Madonna’s MDG sunglasses ad campaign

By Andrea Petrou on June 1st, 2010

Madonna’s campaigns with D&G have become well known throughout the fashion industry and if you’re a regular reader you would have seen our previews of the AW2010 ads featuring the star.

A few months ago we bought you the news that Madge had gone a step further with the Italian designer brand and collaborated with it to co-design an eyewear range. And we’ve been lucky enough to get hold of the ad video, which of course she stars in, for you to check out.

The singer poses with, and gets a little bit saucy, with male model, Tyson Ballou, for the MDG logo sunglasses vid shot by Steven Klein. We doubt this is the last we’ll be seeing of the star.

Fashion photographer Steven Klein to direct Lady Gaga’s new video

By Andrea Petrou on March 25th, 2010

Lady Gaga may have just finished showing the world her creative talents in her Telephone video, but the fashion icon isn’t resting on her laurels.

The quirky singer has announced she’s already planning her next video and this time she’s asked Steven Klein to help.

The fashion photographer who has worked with Lady Gaga’s style rival Madonna for a good few years will direct the video for Ms G’s ‘Alejandro’ single.

We haven’t managed to get too many details about what the video will contain but we do know Lady G’s regular stylist, Nicola Formichetti, will be on hand to provide the singers outfits.

A fashion photographer plus Lady G’s funky fashion means we’ll definitely be in for a viewing treat.

Weekend Update: what we missed including Project Runway scoop

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on September 29th, 2008

Weekend update collage.jpg

While sleeping in, going out and changing our wardrobes over from summer to fall, the fashion world kept churning.

Paris Fashion Week is in full swing, check out photo galleries of Nina Ricci, above right, top, and Gareth Pugh.
We love the Rodarte-heavy editorial spread in Italian Velvet Magazine posted on Foto Decadent, above left. Shot by James Macari, styled by Sabrina Vanotti and starring Eniko Mihalik, it kind of rivals that Steven Klein shoot in American Vogue for Rodarte mesh tights usage.
NBC rather quietly won its injunction against producers at The Weinstein Company for trying to take Project Runway to Lifetime. Fashionista breaks it down.

Gwyneth Paltrow parties in the Hamptons

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on August 12th, 2008

Looks like Gwynnie has been sticking to her all black, short skirt, high heel uniform while in the Hamptons recently.

She wore a black dress and short embellished jacket to the Benefit for Hamptons Amaryllis Farm Equine Rescue on Saturday.

Paltrow was a co-host along with Steven Klein and Madonna – who was not in attendence to the disappointment of many. After the benefit, Gwyneth headed to L.A. Reid’s Sagaponack pad for an afterparty.

The Madonna issue of Dazed and Confused

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on March 4th, 2008

Madonna Dazed.jpg

Not only is Madonna gracing the cover of the April issue of Dazed & Confused, but it seems to be an entire issue dedicated to the former material girl.

The Re-invention Issue features more than 70 pages of art and fashion inspired by the queen of pop, from Matthew Stone, Alex Rose, and Daniel Sannwald just to name a few.

In the world exclusive interview with photos shot by Steven Klein, Madonna talks about her new album and collaborating with Justin Timberlake, Pharrell, and Timbaland.

What’s there really to do on President’s Day but read magazines? A few of our favorite ladies graced the covers of the top glossies. Currently doing the publicity rounds for their new film The Other Boleyn Girl, Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman hit the cover for March’s issue of W. Shot by Steven Klein, both ladies are wearing Miu Miu. They both look okay, but honestly we prefer Miu Miu’s ads with Kirsten Dunst.
