What we wouldn’t give to be in the audience at Sundance among the first to see R.J. Cutler’s film chronicling the making of the September issue of Vogue magazine. Anna Wintour herself will attend the premiere in a rare show of support for any media exposure of her magazine.
WWD goes so far as to say that the film chronicles the last hurrah of the luxury boom, and hints that footage may include Anna talking about the end of her career.
What else do we want to see?
1. What everyone’s wearing, duh.
2. The fashion closet.

It looks like that we’ll be getting to see that Vogue documentary after all. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the documentary, created by R.J. Cutler, has made the line-up for the 2009 Sundance Film Festival next January.
We also now have a title, The September Issue, which as it says, focuses on the preparations for Vogue‘s spring 2007 issue. It was filmed with the full cooperation of Anna Wintour and her staff, so expect to see the lady herself in her natural environment. Cue major excitement!
It’s been a heady week for Vogue‘s editor-in-chief with rumors rife that she was about to give up her crown to French editor, Carine Roitfeld. To find out the latest, read on…

The ole’ internet is buzzing today with reports that a Vogue documentary, filmed last year, is Sundance-bound.
The doco, directed by R.J. Cutler, follows the preparations for the magazine’s spring 2007 issue, and has a decent shot at making it to Sundance Film Festival, according to insiders.
Little else is known about the film, except that it is produced by A&E Indie Films, and has the full cooperation of Anna Wintour and her staff.
Does that mean Wintour on the big screen?
A spokesperson for Cutler could not confirm the news, but even so… how freakin’ exciting. We’re with NY Mag on this one – we want our Twilight-inspired fan T-shirts, stat!

Celebrity Style, Yay or Nay
By Andrea Thatcher on January 23rd, 2008

What do you think of Mena Suvari’s look in the famous photobooth at the Sundance Film Festival? We find it interesting to wear when you know you’re not only going to be shot by paparazzi, but are having your cast portraits taken that day (she’s in The Mysteries of Pittsburgh). I would probably warm up to the whole look, even if it is a bit tough, if only she weren’t wearing that head scarf. I think it’s aweful, but some have said it made the outfit. What do you think?

The great thing about the Sundance Film Festival is that all of Park City is our red carpet. Celebs are photographed more here than on the streets of L.A. Scarves and boots have been the biggest fashion stories, protecting the fashionable from the cold and the drab all at the same time. We love Olivia Wilde’s red boots and checked coat. It’s risky wearing two such statement-making pieces but we think it works. She was in town to promote her film Fix, not to make out with Mischa Barton.

It may not be Cannes, but celebrities have come out to play at the Sundance Film Festival whether they have movies to promote or not. Sarah Jessica Parker, in town for the premiere of her film Smart People, keeps her urban cool even in Park City, Utah proving that you can take the girl out of the city, but … you know. She works black pants tucked into very basic black boots – similar to Bijou Phillips look, far right. SJP breaks up all the black with a gray top and long necklaces. Bijou on the other hand went with a much darker gray top and an awesome short jacket. In the middle, Jessica Alba is thinking big: big hair and big jacket anyway. Guess she wants to keep her baby bump warm and out of sight.

It certainly seems like the laid-back attitude and midwestern location of the Sundance Film Festival has stars letting their style guard down. Trying to stay warm may be another part of it, as seen by the variety of outerwear above. Scarves and hats are always big cold-weather style staples, as seen alone or in combination on all the girls above. For who’s wearing what where, keep reading.
