Gwen Stefani teams up with Target to create affordable clothing range

By Andrea Petrou on July 19th, 2011

Gwen Stefani is teaming up with Target to create an affordable range of clothes for babies, children and young teenagers.

The No Doubt singer – who already has her own fashion range L.A.M.B. – will work on the collection, entitled Harajuku Mini, with the budget store, which will be a spin-off of her successful Harajuku Lovers young contemporary apparel and accessories collection and Harajuku Lovers fragrance.

She told WWD: “Harajuku Mini is a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to do a cool children’s fashion line inspired by the supercute and playful kid’s clothing you find in Japan. The whole idea is about being creative, expressing your own individuality and having fun getting dressed. Target has given me the creative freedom to design kid’s clothing that is different than most anything you usually see out there with great quality, attention to detail and most of all, available at amazing prices.”

Trish Adams, senior vice president of apparel and accessories for Target said: “Gwen is a creative force and her ability to create fun, wearable fashion made her an ideal partner for Target.”

Prices for Harajuku Mini for Target – which will be launched in two phases, one in November and the next in January – range from $3.99 to $29.99.

Anna Sui for Target disassociates itself from Gossip Girl comparisons

By Kimberley Foster on July 14th, 2009

annasui_target_gossipgirl.jpg

Following the internet leak of the Anna Sui for Target lookbook last month, Target execs have been quick to backpedal on any suggestion that the range has been inspired by Gossip Girl.

“One of Target’s top executives got nervous about being that closely associated with the show, given the [debauchery] its characters get into,” a source told the New York Daily News.

Comparisons are being drawn between Anna Sui’s previous collections, and her forthcoming range for Target. The designer has already cited Gossip Girl as inspiration for her Go International line, but clearly her past runways have also provided a good start. Four dresses from her 2006 and 2007 collections have been modified for her new retail range which is set to land in store on September 13. Most of the items will sell for under $50 (woot!) click here to check out the lookbook.

That’s right, these adorable black patent mary janes are only $19.99 at – where else? – Target.

No they’re not Isaac Mizrahi, either, they’re simple old Xhilaration. The Skyler patent mary jane pumps have a cute button detail and an almost 3″ heel.

We almost saved these for our 50 Gifts Under $50 list coming soon, but we had to tell you about them now before they’re all gone.

Bargain Pick of the Week: Merona Kathy riding boots

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on November 6th, 2008

Bargain pick of the week - Target boot.jpg

I know we’re all about the Target news today, but here’s something you can actually buy now.

The Kathy riding boot, $36.99, has been at Target for awhile (I think), but last night I tried them on and finally found a zip-up riding boot that goes over my muscular calves. I wanted to cry.

I also learned that stretching your leg out in front of you to zip up your boots is the shoe equivalent of laying down to zip up your jeans. I’m currently wearing the boots around the house to stretch them out a bit more, but my 2-year search is over. YAY.

ShinyStyle Gallery: first look at Thakoon for Target!

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on November 6th, 2008

The Thakoon for Target collection may not be in stores for another month, but now you can start figuring out (and budgeting for) what you want to buy.

Though the collection is coming out around Christmas, they resisted the holiday angle and went more resort. So if you’re not in sunny climes you may want to save these pieces for spring, though there are certainly a few that could work for winter with some layering.

The prints and cool vibe are there, and now for only $20 to $70. Start your shopping engines, even if you’ll be idling a while.

More Democracy in action – McQueen everyone can afford at Target!

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on November 4th, 2008

Alexander McQueen.jpg

Sure everyone gets to vote (today! so go do it!) but not everyone can buy Alexander McQueen – until this spring!

Rumors of an Alexander McQueen for Target collection were true, but the designer will not be creating a collection for the Go International range.

Instead, the limited edition collection will be for a new initiative called Designer Collaborations which launches in March. The project is said to focus on young and emerging designers.
