Check out Lindsay Lohan’s latest cover for Vogue España‘s August issue. The actress has surprised many, myself included, when she decided to don a Marilyn Monroe platinum wig again to channel the screen icon for the glossy shoot. After her previous disaster, when she recreated Monroe’s “The Last Sitting” for NY Magazine, you can’t help but wonder why?
No doubt she’ll cop even more flack for this latest effort, although having now seen the finished results I’m not quite so dark on her. For example, the image (above, right) where she is dressed in Thierry Mugler is actually quite fierce. Almost Gaga-inspired.
Elle magazine has picked itself up and dusted itself off after Stylista was cancelled on the CW network. Instead, it will feature in MTV’s The City, after the show’s resident ice queen, Olivia Palermo, scored a job in the publicity department of the magazine. Sources say that shooting of season two is already under way, with cameras entering the Elle offices this week. I wonder, will this television venture will be more successful?
Our friends over at Shiny Media’s sensational television blog, TV Scoop, snagged an exclusive interview with Rachel Zoe. Naturally we were not only tres excited but also very jealous.
The much-talked-about stylist discusses her love of vintage, her personal style icons, and of course her reasons behind launching her fly-on-the-wall series, The Rachel Zoe Project, which currently screens on Really (Sky and Virgin Media). She is also apparently a very big fan of British fashion:
“The style in the UK is a huge, huge inspiration for me. I love… even walking along the streets of London, I’m like, aaaurgh [makes sighing noise]. You just get that great aristocratic style that I love so much. Like that classic English… Savile Row and all that. And… I love the whole Portobello/Notting Hill vibe too.”

Has Paulina Porizkova become just another victim of the global economic crisis? That is what Tyra Banks is citing after the Czech model was fired as judge on America’s Next Top Model. The only problem is that Paulina doesn’t quite see it that way.
She revealed on the Late Late Show that she was fired because it was suggested that she had a big ego. She then insinuated on Access Hollywood that behind-the-scenes Tyra is a diva, who was consistently late to set and only spoke to her in front of the cameras. Now, Tyra has responded to the claims by releasing the following statement:
“The current state of the economy has forced shows to make major budget cuts industry wide. America’s Next Top Model is not immune to these financially challenging times. We’ve had to make significant cuts in every area of the production and, unfortunately, Paulina was a casualty of these cuts.”
The weekend brought with it the return of MTV’s newly-revived House of Style. The TV show, which had many of us glued to our screens in the late ’80s/early ’90s, has now partnered with Teen Vogue to bring us all latest from the world of fashion.
Starring Bar Rafaeli and Chanel Iman as co-hosts, the show’s weekend debut prompted mixed reactions from viewers, who felt it was too scripted and perhaps a little too geared towards the teen-set (erm… friendship bracelets, really?!). Here is a snippet from episode one, featuring Rafaeli interviewing Justin Timberlake on the eve of his New York Fashion Week show for William Rast. Click play on video above to watch.
Reading this piece by the Fug Girls today regarding the new 90210 spin-off gave me a giggle. Someone over at CW has leaked a promotional video of the new television series and what you’re about to witness, I am afraid to say, is pretty average. I am inclined to agree with the Fugsters that what was once our favourite after-school teen soap, has now been ‘updated’ to a poor man’s version of Gossip Girl. The original 90210 broke trends in fashion (albeit bad ones, but we obsessed about them nonetheless). With this new lot, I can’t see anything particularly new or inspired fashion-wise, or remotely intriguing plot-wise. I hate to say it, but sometimes it’s often best to leave the past exactly where it stands… in the past.

Here’s the first sneak peek at model Lydia Hearst playing ‘Amelia’ in the new episodes of Gossip Girl. We blogged last week about the socialite’s star role in the hit TV show, and from the looks of this shot, it appears as though she has her eyes set on playboy Chuck (Ed Westwick). Due to air in the US on 19th May, Hearst’s character will be involved with Bart and Lilly’s wedding.
