Even though http://www.thesak.com/ has been moving away from their mesh Mom bag image with fun metallics and leathers for some time, I was really impressed with their spring/summer 2008 bags. My favorites were from the Silverlake Leather collection that will hit stores in March. On the left is the flap bag that will retail for $86 to $199, and on the right the convertible clutch, $47 to $109. The tough, rocker details add extra style to the beautiful leathers.

Congratulations to readers Kelsey, Andrea, and Natalie who were chosen at random to win ShinyStyle’s 10 Outfits for 10 Occasions Contest! We’re talking old school random, we drew names out of a bag. But coincidentally both Kelsey and Andrea had their wardrobe dilemma questions chosen to be answered during the contest as well. Check out Kesley’s anniversary outfit and Andrea’s budget New Year’s Eve outfit. Okay, so this isn’t exactly an outfit. This question was more about completing your outfit. Kori asked us for a final ruling on whether or not your bag and shoes have to match. My first inclination was to just shout “No!” and I may have done so in the privacy of my office. But then I thought I should really check in with an expert, and who better than The Sak creative director Lorae Russo? After all, one of the prizes Kori could win by submitting her wardrobe question in the 10 Outfits for 10 Occasions Contest is a handbag from The Sak.
Lorae answers Kori with another question: “What works for you? Match is a relative term,” Lorae said. “Compliment and coordinate. If this is not easy, matching is a good rule. It keeps things simple and easy in a fast-paced world.”

Adyna entered our 10 Outfits for 10 Occasions contest so now not only is she in the running for a Chloe & Reese dress, a handbag from The Sak, or a dinner at Bruno Jamais, but she gets her what to wear question answered as well. Adyna picked up some summer dresses she was hoping to convert to winter wear with a satin shrug that just covered the shoulders. She has a leopard print Bebe maxi dress, but we thought we’d show you the Roberto Cavalli for H&M leopard maxi dress since we know so many of you have them. Well, you were right Adyna, it is nearly impossible to find a black satin shrug. While we found one by DKNY at our local Marshalls, it was nowhere online and we wanted to show you something we knew you could get. So we found this chiffon shrug at David’s Bridal – one of our secrets for non-bridal formalwear. Keep reading for more details on this outfit!

As much as I hate to admit that there are occasions when you can’t carry a tote or large handbag, there are. And they crop up a lot more often during the holidays. So we’ve selected the nelly satin flap bag and the signature leather top zip in chocolate foil metallic, both $79, to accessorize party frocks or dress up jeans for a last minute event. These metallic handbags are very on trend for the season. The Sak signature leather Marlboro shoulder bag in Bronze Foil Metallic (top left, $99) is very chic. I love the small pocket on the back–it’s perfect for quick cell phone or Metro card access. And the color goes with just about anything, from black to brown hues–adding a metallic pop to any outfit. It also comes in Black, Black Patent, Chocolate Foil Metallic, Pewter Foil Metallic, and Winter White Patent. The Elliott Lucca Etoile gold patent leather small satchel (top right, $168) is ultra glam. The woven leather handles are very haute, and of course, patent leather is the It trend for fall and winter–so make your look shine from the office to cocktail hour. It also comes in Silver, Wine Croco, Midnight Patent and Black Patent.
