Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony will go ahead with their joint fashion line despite their recent split.
The couple – who announced their separation last week – have signed a deal to create a clothing and accessories line for Kohl’s with Tommy Hilfiger which will launch in September and although their designs were set to be a collaborative effort, Jennifer will now work on the women’s collection while Marc will work on the menswear.
A spokesperson told WWD: “The Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony brands have always been positioned as two separate, distinctive collections that offer high-quality contemporary style for men and women, and we look forward to a successful September launch.”
Rick Darling, of LF USA, which sub-licenses the singers’ brands to Kohl’s, added: “We have two separate agreements with Jennifer and Marc and always intended to have separate lines. [Their split] doesn’t impact the agreements in any way.”
Although Jennifer’s first fashion collaboration Sweetface with Tommy’s brother Andy Hilfiger was a failure, he believes this will be a success because the singer has more control.
Tommy said: “The difference this time around is that Jennifer is fully engaged with a company that is professionally staffed to really develop anything she wants, from towels to knee-high suede boots. Literally, her wish is their command.”

Jennifer Lopez admits her first foray into fashion was a huge disappointment.
The singer-and-actress teamed up with Tommy Hilfiger’s brother Andy to launch her own clothing range, Sweetface, in 2001 but now admits it wasn’t what she expected as she felt “trapped” by it.
She told the New York Times newspaper: “I just felt like I never got a fair chance to do it right. And on top of it, I felt like I was trapped in a situation I couldn’t get out of, and my name was stamped on things that I didn’t believe in.”
Although the line closed, Jennifer didn’t let it put her off designing another line – this time she has teamed up with Tommy and her husband Marc Anthony to create a fashion collection with Kohls.
They are all confident the line will be a success because Jennifer has lots of control over it.
Tommy said of the new range: “The difference this time around is that Jennifer is fully engaged with a company that is professionally staffed to really develop anything she wants, from towels to knee-high suede boots. Literally, her wish is their command.”

Tommy Hilfiger would love to dress Princess Catherine.
The US designer is famed for his preppy all American look yet he believes Catherine – who wore a stunning Alexander McQueen gown when she married Prince William in a lavish ceremony at London’s Westminster Abbey last month – has the perfect style credentials to represent the brand.
He said: “Catherine has a very classic yet modern style. I would love to dress her and I think she already has the makings of the perfect preppy!”
However, the Duchess of Cambridge is not the only famous female Tommy admires, the 60-year-old designer cited Gwyneth Paltrow as someone who represents the preppy look calling her “effortlessly elegant”.
He told vogue.co.uk: “Gwyneth Paltrow instantly springs to mind. She is effortlessly elegant and has a strong sense of what works for her. She takes a classic piece, a white Oxford shirt for instance, and wears it in a modern way; a slight roll of the sleeve and pop at the collar is very charming and very preppy.”

Tommy Hilfiger A/W 2011-2012
Tommy Hilfiger, one of the USA’s biggest and most iconic fashion brands, showed at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week yesterday. The result was a surprisingly pleasing mix of Annie Hall-esque androgyny and 1970s glamour, with a bit of New York grit thrown in for measure. Much like in Alexander Wang’s catwalk show, fur and leather were key in adding sexy and feminine twists to masculine tailoring.
Anyone who’s seen the Woody Allen classic Annie Hall will remember the endearingly sloppy trouser suit and waistcoat that Diane Keaton wore when she fell in love with Woody Allen – like a small frail girl dressing up like a man. Tommy Hilfiger have perfectly modernised that look, creating loose, low-waisted suit trousers and masculine suit jackets in lush-looking twills, adding flashes of riotous 70s-looking silk here and there to add a witty twist. The result is effortless – as if the models, panicking about having nothing to wear, just slung on their boyfriends’ suits and suddenly though “Hey, this looks pretty good”. There is nothing contrived about this collection at all.
The fashion house have managed to seamlessly blur the line between formalwear and sportswear, mixing slouchy sweatshirts and beautifully knitted men’s jumpers with fur gilets, suit trousers and leather. Our absolute favourite piece from the whole collection is the stone-coloured suede outdoor jacket with leather lapels – a genius take on old-fashioned outdoors wear, every girl will want one of these to brave the cold in, whether you’re in New York or Grimsby.
Yes, tailoring has been a big trend for a while, but not quite like this – Tommy Hilfiger’s 2011-12 collection takes masculine dressing to another level. The fashion house has taken the next logical step from reinventing the tuxedo as a feminine garment to bringing Saville Row dressing to the female market. In fashion, it’s never just a man’s world. In a subtly cool palette of greys, blacks, browns and golds, it’s an understated assortment of clothes that we think will give any wearer immediate elegance and poise.
Forget cocktail dresses – make our next party outfit a Tommy Hilfiger suit.

New York Fashion Week - Gossip
By Andrea Petrou on September 15th, 2010
With New York Fashion Week drawing to a sad close we thought it was about time we gave a little nod to some of the trends that have come from the catwalks so far. So we’ve decided to pick out some of our favourite highlights. First up is of course Tommy Hilfiger who celebrated his 25 anniversary with a celeb fuelled party (if you missed all the pictures from this click here).
And his designs were just as amazing. The designer stuck to a red/white/blue theme, which was worked into cotton tweed shorts suits, or a navy and white bow-bra with a red, pleated mini-kilt.
And he didn’t forget his preppy roots either. Cream oversized cricket sweaters trimmed with red, and of course the classic mac was transformed right into Hilfiger SS2011 style, graced the catwalk. Pleated skirts, long, slinky silk jersey gowns, featuring cut-outs or bow-ties at the back were all little treats we can probably expect to see channelled on the highstreet next year.

Celebrity Style, New York Fashion Week - Gossip

The fashion elite have preened, pouted and donned their best heels for a range of various events at NY Fashion Week either sitting in the front rows of shows or tuning up for parties.
Sarah Jessica Parker turned up at the Diane Von Furstenberg show looking her usual glam self in a cute off the shoulder cherry print gypsy dress, while Nicky Hilton opted for an on-trend leopard print mini dress for the same event. They were joined in the front row by fashion queen Anna Wintour who opted for a classic print maxi dress teamed up with a mac and pearl necklace.
Carmen Electra showed off her, er, assets in a striped dress at Zac Posen while Jennifer Lopez went for a funky black dress and knee high patent boots for Tommy Hilfiger’s 25th anniversary party. She was joined by Kelly Osbourne who opted for a 60s print dress and Mad Men star Christina Hendricks who showed off her curves in a black plunge neck frock.
Rumer Willis also joined the fashion parade at the same event in a classic satin blue long dress.
Milla Jovovich also made an appearance at NYFW posing for photographers in a long blue top, leggings and cage gladiators.
See all the NY Fashion Week glamour so far in the gallery below.

Bargain POTW
By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on August 21st, 2008

If back-to-school time still gives you preppy flutters in your tummy (even if you’re no longer starting classes) this Tommy Hilfiger cardigan might be right up your alley.
The Lawrence cardigan, on sale for $39, definitely has a dose of Gossip Girl style, with a sleek collegiate look. Wear it full-on prep school with a button-down shirt and blazer, or play down that aspect with a plain top, jeans and tough boots. Either way the diagonal stripes will be flattering.
For those actually hitting the books this fall (and those still paying off their debt for the opportunity) might not find $39 to be a bargain. But look at it this way, you’d probably pay $40 full price for a sweater you really like, and Tommy’s knits last a long time.

Of course you can already find styles like this “Tommy Hilfiger tartan empire waist dress, $159, at Macy’s stores. But soon your selection of Tommy sportswear will increase when you walk into a Macy’s and decrease everywhere else as the two firms have inked an exclusive deal. WWD calls this a “bold move” on the part of Hilfiger and are hopeful that this will mean Americans see more of the upscale products that have fueled the brand’s European popularity. We also hope it will help Macy’s tepid sales, as we’re big fans of the department store. But don’t worry, Tommy will still operate their own stand-alone stores and sell on their Web site.

Prints popped and preppy prevailed at the Milly by Michelle Smith fashion show. The designer’s Connecticut roots were apparent in the cable cardigans delicately draped over shoulders and looks best suited to tennis or drinks at the club. The palette was kept simple in mostly white, navy, green and yellow. It would be easy to emulate this look with a quick trip to your local departments store’s Tommy Hilfiger and Polo Ralph Lauren sections. Michelle’s Paris and New York inspirations were a little harder to glimpse. But, the collection was very wearable and features some sophisticated silhouettes in graphic prints that were truly lovely.
