Go barefoot tonight and help TOMs raise awareness for children in developing countries

We know, like us, many of you have shoe fetishes. And if you’re as bad as us, you’ll know how long it takes to find the perfect pair and then match them up to the perfect outfit.
Why not save time and do your bit for charity by going without?

No we haven’t gone mad. TOMS Shoes is holding its third annual One Day Without Shoes event today, and is encouraging us to go barefoot for one day to highlight the plight of children in developing countries who contract diseases from soil-based parasites as a result of not having any shoes.

Every girl who goes without their footwear this evening (forget those flip-flops) will be helping the charity, which pledges to match every pair of shoes sold with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need raise awareness.

So what are you waiting for? Get those feet out ladies! It’s for a good cause.

YouTube Watch: Buy shoes for a cause, instead of no reason at all

By Andrea Thatcher on November 24th, 2008

Yes, we know you don’t really need much of a reason to buy shoes. But isn’t it nice when there is a reason? How about this: TOMS shoes is trying to donate 30,000 pairs of shoes to men, women and children in Ethiopia who suffer from a soil-based disease that can be prevented simply by wearing shoes. How can you help? For every pair of TOMS shoes you buy, TOMS will match your purchase by giving one pair of shoes to someone who doesn’t have any. (Have you counted the shoes in your closet lately? Guilt trip over.)

Bipartisan voter fashion

There’s no shortage of sartorial options for showing your support for your favorite candidate in the upcoming presidential election.

But how about supporting a charity that gives shoes to children and keeping the political peace at the same time with these Tom’s Shoes split decision vote shoes, $45.

Having yelled “no politics!” at more than one dinner lately, I think these would come in handy.

And the charity? Tom’s shoes always donates one pair of shoes to a needy child for every pair of shoes purchased.

Shoes the new artists’ medium with TOMS Shoes at Fred Segal

By Andrea Thatcher on October 31st, 2007

Six artists recently unveiled their original designs for TOMS Shoes at the Hollywood-hip Fred Segal. Each participant was given 12-15 pairs to embellish with their artistry, which will sell for $75-$150. “I want to allow people to express themselves through their TOMS,” said company founder Blake Mycoskie. “Toms are canvas, so why not get artists to start painting them so they can express themselves through Toms?” Not only does TOMS support the arts, but for every pair of shoes sold, they donate a pair to needy children.
