Katy Perry will ask her fans to guess the name of her new perfume via twitter.
The California Gurls hitmaker – who released her debut fragrance Purr, earlier this year – will launch the new scent later this year in association with Gigantic Parfums and from next week on will invite her twitter followers to submit their ideas for its name.
According to WWD, Katy, 26, created the new fragrance while on her ‘California Dreams’ world tour.
The popstar has previously claimed her Purr fragrance is “like the Goldilocks of perfume”, saying people can tell from their very first sniff that the “cute” scent is “just right” and matched perfectly to her wild, fun loving, loud and convivial nature.
She said: “It’s like the Goldilocks of perfume. It s not too much, it’s not too forgettable, it’s just right. It’s basically me in a bottle. I think a lot of people go up and they go, ‘That’s definitely Katy Perry. This is definitely Katy Perry’s perfume.’ ”
She has also gave advice on the best way to apply the scent.
She said: “I usually spray and walk through. I never spray directly on
“I’ve heard that you’re not supposed to spray directly on the skin. Then it’s not so concentrated, because everybody knows sometimes when a woman walks into a room, she can smell like her grandmother.”
Lily Allen said this morning that her impressive baby bump is making her feel “like a penguin”.
The singer tweeted this morning: “I feel like a penguin, not the chocolate covered biscuity kind, but an actual penguin that waddles … now can’t stop thinking about chocolatey penguins doh! (sic).” Get the hubby to run down the road for you, Lil!
Lily must be really feeling the pregnancy now as she’s just entered the third trimester. Not long until there’ll be a little Allen running around mouthing off to everyone.. We recommend she uses her time wisely now to eat as many Penguin biscuits as she physically can.
The singer is getting into the swing of family life since marrying Sam Cooper earlier this summer, and is getting ready for the new arrival by getting handy with a needle and thread. Lily said on her new hobby: “I’m being taught how to knit. I’m so not rock ‘n’ roll anymore. I’m embroidering too. I’m actually in the process of making cushions.” Awwww.
Rihanna has reconnected with Chris Brown on twitter.
The ‘S&M’ singer added her ex-boyfriend to the list of people she follows on the micro-blogging website and he has added her in return.
Twitter followers of the pop star expressed concern she had made contact with the ‘Kiss Kiss’ singer – who two years ago attacked her leaving her with a split lip and cuts and bruises to her face – and openly speculated as to whether the stars had rekindled their romance.
After one fan asked if she was back with her former boyfriend Rihanna snapped: “its fu**in twitter, not the altar! (sic)”
After the admirer became upset she quickly apologised, explaining that she wanted to make it clear to all her followers that she was not back in a relationship with Chris
She wrote: “babygirl I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt or offend u! Just needed to make it clear to the Navy! I still Stan for u xoxo. (sic)”
Chris, 21, was sentenced to five years probation and six months of community service for assaulting Rihanna in February 2009.
Last month, the 23-year-old star revealed she didn’t expect to ever talk to him again despite agreeing to have a restraining order against him relaxed so he could more easily carry on with his career.
The ‘Rude Boy’ singer explained: “We don’t have to talk again ever in my life. I just didn’t want to make it more difficult for him professionally.
“What he did to me was a personal thing. It had nothing to do with his career. Saying he has to be a hundred feet away from me, he can’t perform at awards shows, that definitely made it difficult for him. That was the only thing it was going to change, so I didn’t care.”
Demi Moore and her hubby Ashton Kutcher are no strangers to Twitter, keeping fans updated with their lives. However, Demi has now gone one step further giving her fans a treat.
The 47-year-old actress posted a series of pics posing in a skimpy bikini on her Daily Booth photo feed, taken with her iPhone in front of a mirror.
Showing off her amazing bod, she Tweeted the attached message, ‘Maybe this is more like summer!’.
We think Demi looks absolutely amazing and it’s inspired us to stop moping and get ourselves back down to the gym. But has she always looked this good? We delve into her past to have a look.

We had a few comments coming through to our inboxes and over Twitter about Peaches Geldof’s tattoos yesterday. Some of you thought they were creative, while others weren’t too keen.
However over the past few decades these pieces of body art have moved away from the stereotypical “Brits on tour” and “punk” ideals into the world of fashion with celebrities such as Posh, Rihanna and Pink all using these to make a huge statement.
They’ve also become a big must have for this season with Chanel creating transfer tattoos as a replacement for those of us too scared to get a real one but who want to keep in with the latest trends.
We’ve therefore put together a gallery of our favourite celebrity tattoos but keep clicking through because we’ve also put in a little surprise for all you David Beckham fans.
And as always let us know what you think about tattoos by voting and leaving your comments below.
A few weeks after Lara Stone announced her wedding dress designer would be Riccardo Tisci, supermodel Coco Rocha has said she’ll be enlisting the creative talents of Zac Posen for her frock.
We had thought the model, come designer would be designing her own dress but she confirmed the news on Twitter.
“Mr. Zac Posen is the best! I met with him to discuss wedding dress designs and immediately sketches were flying… So exciting!!,” she wrote on her page.
We can’t wait to see the design Coco chooses, and will her dress be better than Miss Stone’s?
We see a real life fashion bride wars coming up quite soon.
Tributes for Alexander McQueen have been flooding in from every corner of the celebrity and fashion worlds with many using Twitter to put their thoughts into the public domain.
Peaches Geldof was among the first celebrities to pay tribute on the micro-site, posting a quote from TS Eliot. On her page, she wrote: “RIP Alexander McQueen.”Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.”- T.S. Eliot”
And Tyra Banks tweeted, “RIP Alexander McQueen. so so sad. such a huge loss. He was one of my favorite designers. He will be missed.”
Others have released statements to tell the world how much they respected the designer.
Sarah Jessica Parker said: “What is more devastating is that despite all his success thus far creatively, critically and commercially, his greatest achievements lay ahead of him, the future would be whatever he hoped to make of it.
“He was talented well beyond his years and the seriousness and unrivalled talent which he applied to his work is in bountiful display year after year and collection after collection,” she said. “Every single inspired, original, lofty, whimsical, stunning, brilliant and jaw dropping detail was Alexander McQueen.”
Madonna said: “Lee McQueen was a truly unique visionary in the world of fashion. A creator of beauty. What a tragedy.”
To pay our respects we’ve put together a collection of some of his pieces and best moments.
It seems that the Twitter trend is spreading to the world of glossy fashion magazines. Italian Vogue have never been afraid to take risks with their content and covers, as their issue featuring only black models this summer proved. For December they’re producing an issue inspired by Twitter and Twitpic.
The cover features Gisele, Lara Stone, Christy Turlington, Kasia Struss and Natalia Vodianova in photos they took themselves. Glimpses of the editorial inside show a Twitpic-style spread, shot by Stephen Meisel and called MeiselPic, with models casually posing and having fun in what will probably turn out to be really expensive clothes.
Considering a lot of models are already avid Twitterers – Jessica Stam and Chanel Iman regularly update theirs – is Vogue Italia ridiculing their tendency to reveal too much, or just jumping on the Twitter bandwagon?
We’re not sure, but one thing it made us all-too-aware of is how, sadly, we’re never going to look as good as these models in our own uploaded photos. Sigh.
Twitter has become an amazing place for us to keep up with up to date fashion stories across the UK. And you can find a great deal of news by following the huge number of fashion bloggers on the site.
Following on from the news http://www.shinystyle.tv/2009/11/twitter_now_being_used_to_gues.html that fashion forecasting company StyleSignal is now using Twitter to guess what the biggest upcoming looks will be by analysing what outfits we’re twittering, we thought we’d give you a list of the top 40 UK fashion bloggers to watch on Twitter.
Many of these are UK based, but there are also some in the US writing for blogs over here.
Any idea what’s going to be hot the season after next? We might be able to make a guess, but in the fashion industry trend forecasting is big business. Now ‘fashion forecasting’ company Stylesignal is using Twitter to guess what the biggest upcoming looks will be. They analyse what we’re twittering about and make a handy chart out of the data to pass on to companies – so if you tweet incessantly about your latest outfit, you could be being watched, and your look could end up in the shops.
Mind you, the style icons we’d most like to dress like probably don’t care about trends, just what suits them – Cheryl Cole is addicted to miniskirts, Agyness loves her Converse, and when has Alexa Chung not worn ankle boots?
We say hit the street style blogs or look out the window of the bus if you want to see the future of fashion, because trends start with people who are just like you and me, only a bit braver. Spot them and you’ll beat the fashion forecasters – we’ll leave the science-y trend analysing to the people who do it best. And next time you Twitter about a new, amazingly original way to do your belt up, don’t be surprised if it pops up in Grazia next week.
It seems that we have a small celebrity following now on Twitter. We’re being followed by Kim Kardashian and Daisy Lowe has also linked to us via her Twitter page.
Yes, we’re very proud.
If you want to join the celebrity clan as well as hear about the latest fashions, view galleries and get the latest star styles then follow us too for up to date stories.
And with these updates you’ll also know when we’ve got a competition lined up. Go on, you know you want to.
It was bound to happen sooner or later, and now it seems that a Facebook-inspired collection is about to hit the runway.
Zac Posen has hinted that his forthcoming spring 2010 collection has been influenced by the popular social networking site.
“[It's] everything that a New York fashion editor is not looking for,” he said. “There’s definitely fashion editors who get really bothered by the fact that I’m out and about and promoting my work. It’s not what they desire as ‘cool,’ or what they think is interesting, and it probably de-myths their own existence.”
Proving further how much designers are utilizing these outlets, Stella McCartney, has just joined the Twittersphere. Follow her updates here.
