Tyra Banks gets up three hours early so she has time to work out and put on her make-up.

By Andrea Petrou on March 16th, 2011

Tyra Banks gets up three hours early so she has time to work out and put on her make-up.

The 37-year-old model-and-television presenter is currently studying at Harvard Business School and admitted she rises at 4.45am in order to get ready to meet her study group at 7.30am every morning.

She explained: “I have to work out and eat breakfast beforehand and get ready and be a female. But in the end, I never would have had it any other way. I have made life-long friends among my classmates.”

Meanwhile the busy entrepreneur has today (15.03.11) launched her own beauty and style website, TypeF, where women can input their vital statistic and every time they log on, are greeted with content matched to their physical characteristics

Tyra explained to USA Today: “We decided to keep a blank slate for women to fill in what that F means to them. It’s done with humor and fun. It’s a very specific voice. TypeF is saying, ‘No, you are good enough. You deserve to wear that trend too.’”

Tyra Banks pens a fantasy model trilogy

By Andrea Petrou on May 12th, 2010

Tyra Banks shows us how to wear it straight
There’s probably not a fashionista on this earth who hasn’t heard of America’s
Next Top Model
and that’s all thanks to clever lady and ex-model Tyra Banks.

The star who has launched the shows which now run across the world and has her own US talk show, has decided that she now wants to tell the world a little bit more about the modelling world. She has penned the first book in fantasy based trilogy, which she has creatively called Modelland.

The fantasy book is the story of a teen girl in a make-believe society who finds herself competing for a way of life that’s both hotly desired and woefully out of reach at an academy for Intoxibellas, the most exceptional models known to humankind. As the plot unfolds, readers will uncover lessons that are buried beneath the surface of this magical world.

Sounds interesting but we hardly think it’s going to be Twilight or chic lit worthy.

Taylor Swift becomes the new face of CoverGirl make-up

By Andrea Petrou on May 4th, 2010

Taylor for Covergirl.JPG

CoverGirl is a brand we have recently been associated with America’s Next Top Model after Tyra Banks tells the contenders every single week that one of their prizes will be a contract with the brand.

However, it seems that a CoverGirl model is more than just a NTM, she’s also a celebrity too.

Joining the celebrity CoverGirl brigade, which currently includes Rihanna and Drew Barrymore, is Taylor Swift who has described her new role as “a dream come true.”

Swift has just finished shooting her first ads, which will debut in January, and she will represent a new line of luxury products for the brand.

“I am so excited to become the next CoverGirl,” the singer said. “I have admired many of the CoverGirls since I was a little girl . . . great artists and actresses who are confident and still themselves. It’s like a dream come true to be a part of the future of CoverGirl.”

Gallery: Rihanna and Katy Perry come out to play at the Nickelodeon Annual Kids’ Choice Awards

By Andrea Petrou on March 29th, 2010

While British celebs were donning their best dresses for the Empire Film 2010 awards last night, their US couterparts were showing off their casual style on the red carpet of Nickelodeon‘s 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards.

Popstar Rihanna, Tyra Banks and Katy Perry all toned down their usual red carpet glitz to take part in the awards, but despite that they all looked stunning.

The celebs were also joined by Brit stars Pixie Lott and Mel B, who looked just as good as their US style enemies.

We put together a gallery of the best dressed celebs for you to take a look at. Tell us who you think looks the best by leaving your comments below.

Tyra Banks blames poor economy on firing Paulina Porizkova from ‘America’s Next Top Model’

By Kimberley Foster on May 20th, 2009

tyrabanks_paulinaporizkova_fired.jpgHas Paulina Porizkova become just another victim of the global economic crisis? That is what Tyra Banks is citing after the Czech model was fired as judge on America’s Next Top Model. The only problem is that Paulina doesn’t quite see it that way.

She revealed on the Late Late Show that she was fired because it was suggested that she had a big ego. She then insinuated on Access Hollywood that behind-the-scenes Tyra is a diva, who was consistently late to set and only spoke to her in front of the cameras. Now, Tyra has responded to the claims by releasing the following statement:

“The current state of the economy has forced shows to make major budget cuts industry wide. America’s Next Top Model is not immune to these financially challenging times. We’ve had to make significant cuts in every area of the production and, unfortunately, Paulina was a casualty of these cuts.”

Video: Chaos erupts over bomb scare at ‘America’s Next Top Model’ NY audition

By Kimberley Foster on March 15th, 2009

This is unbelievable! Chaos erupted at the New York auditions for America’s Next Top Model on Saturday. The trouble began when a car overheated and blew smoke, causing someone to cry out “There’s a bomb!” This prompted thousands of model hopefuls to become trampled in a stampede and a fight breaking out amongst the crowd. Two women and a man were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and inciting a riot, and six women required medical attention. Others claimed bad organisation and the inability to leave the queue to go to the toilet and get food was also to blame. The audition was shut down, however neither Tyra Banks or ANTM reps have commented. Click play on video above to watch the chaos unfold.

Designers like Karl, Michael Kors live out fantasies in photo shoots for Harper’s Bazaar

Everyone’s hopped all over the Karl Lagerfeld-as-rapper image from the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar, so we decided to show you some of the other designers’ fantasy shoots.

Here’s designer Michael Kors as James Stewart as L.B. Jeffries in Hitchcock’s “Rear Window” which is a fabulously styled movie.

Donatella Versace chose to portray “The Princess and the Pea” on a pile of matresses.

“I am not a great believer in fairy tales,” she said. “Every woman should fight hard for her own happy endings. Although occasionally, it is nice to wake up as a princess.”

For more on what the likes of Tyra Banks, Donna Karan and more chose for their shoots, keep reading.

ANTM finale.jpg

America’s Next Top Model finalists Fatima, Anya, and Whitney went head-to-head for the title tonight.

Aftrican American Fatima, blonde Hawiian Anya, and full-figured Whitney might be the most diverse final three ANTM has featured. Each one could appeal to Seventeen and to CoverGirl in a different way.

So who won? Keep reading.

America’s Next Top Model: Tyra shoots the girls, shoots one down

By Andrea Thatcher on April 30th, 2008

Katarzyna.jpgClick image to enlarge.

This week America’s Next Top Model took full advantage of all the Rome tourism board had to offer with a gladiator-themed shoot among the city’s ruins. The girls met with mixed success. Whitney who I really like but doesn’t often take the best pictures, won the photo shoot challenge and got to split some shopping prize money with Anya.

No surprise she didn’t choose Fatima, who’s head has blown up with every compliment she receives from the judges. She obviously thinks she’s the best, and I guess the judges agree since she’s been first two weeks in a row.

To find out who went home, keep reading.

America’s Next Top Model in Rome

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on April 23rd, 2008

America's Next TM.jpg

In the grand tradition of bizarre international locations for America’s Next Top Model, this season Tyra Banks took the girls to Rome, Italy.

Not Milan – the fashion capital of Italy and the home of one of the most important fashion weeks in the world – but Rome. Why not hop one city North, Tyra?

But alas. For more on what happened in what is admittedly the more culturally rich Italian city – also weird for the vapid ANTM – keep reading.

America’s Next Top Model: more mouthing than modelling

By Andrea Thatcher on March 26th, 2008

Top Model 19.jpg

This is the second week on America’s Next Top Model that petty fighting at the model house took up the first fifteen minutes of the episode. It was almost 20 minutes in before we saw any fashion.

First Tyra Banks gave the girls a literally painful lesson. Apparently if you’re ever lost for a pose, you can simply act like you’re in pain with as much melodrama as possible, who knew?

Tyra to leave Top Model?

By Andrea Thatcher on March 26th, 2008

Trya.jpg

Rumor has it that personality conflicts on the set of America’s Next Top Model may have Tyra Banks thinking of leaving the show. Tyra’s annoying, sure, but isn’t she synonymous with ANTM?
