By Andrea Thatcher on November 21st, 2007

holidayclutchesunder%2450.jpgIt’s almost December and you know what that means–time for tons of holiday parties. We’ve featured a variety of sophisticated holiday apparel, and now we’ve found the most glamorous clutches to complete your look for less than $15 to more than $450. One of the major trends this season is sequins. Get the sparkling silver Chainmail Sequin Clutch (center) from Forever 21 for just $14.80. Wear it with dark, bold colors such as black, red, green, blue or plum to complement just about any holiday ensemble. Box clutches are also big this winter. The shimmering gold
Alexis Convertible Clutch
(lower left) from Urban Outfitters is just $38. Look like the perfect little package with the black satin Steve Madden Juliette Clutch with bow detail (top left) from Macy’s also for $38. Or add a little spice to any get-up with the sassy
Jessica McClintock Sequined Zebra Frame Clutch
(top right) from Nordstrom for $42. What holiday outfit could be complete without the oh-so-shiny patent leather Steve Madden Fiona Clutch (bottom right) from Macy’s for $48. Or if it’s a more metallic look you wish for, this bag’s also available in quilted Gold Foil. Check out more hot holiday clutches for over $50 after the jump.

Lindsay Lohan spotted with Urban Outfitters clutch?

By Andrea Thatcher on November 1st, 2007

Lindsay%20clutch.jpg

The ladies over at WWWD have spotted Lindsay Lohan with what we believe might be the Urban Outfitters croco large clutch in plum. This is the perfect bag to sport the clutched during the day trend, it would hold all your gadgets and probably even some files if you deign to dirty your hands with the things. And it looks way more lux than the $38 it will cost you.

Fall Fashion Pick of the Week #4: The cape

By Andrea Thatcher on September 27th, 2007

fall%20capes.JPGThe cape is huge this season, and a great fall must-have for all those chilly, but-not-yet-freezing days. So, I’ve come up with a selection of chic styles to keep you fashionably cozy. The first two, above, are lighter designs to wear now through mid-fall. The cape on the left, is a cute and comfy Echo buttoned-down chunky capelet for $98. I really like the big, bold buttons and the over-sized, folded-over turtleneck. On the right is the adorable Portolano ruffle-edge cape for $250. A bit more expensive, but the ruffles and horn-shaped toggle buttons are so sweet, I couldn’t resist. Check out more, warmer-styled capes at the jump.

Plaid wraps–expensive to cheap from Burberry to Urban Outfitters

By Andrea Thatcher on September 27th, 2007

plaid%20wraps.JPG
While procrastinating at work, I came across this Check Wrap Coat by Burberry for $1,395 and realized I’d seen something just like it while shopping at Urban Outfitters the other day. At Urban the Lux Little Edie Cape is only $78. If you belted it, it would look so cute and really similar to the Burberry item. These plaid numbers are perfect for keeping you toasty and comfortable when the weather turns cold, while still looking very city chic.

Ashley Olsen Dresses for Labor Day

By Elaine LaPersonerie on September 4th, 2007

200_collage%2520%282%29.jpg
I’m spending time in the Hamptons–enjoying the last few bits of summer sun. Last night, I went for dinner at Sen Lounge, a swanky sushi restaurant in Sag Harbor and who walks in and sits right next to me? Ashley Olsen. I’m not star crazed at all–after having worked with one, you’ve worked with them all, pretty much. But there has been so much buzz lately about the Olsen twins and how they dress. Where one achieves, the other fails. I must say, despite all the controversy over the twin fashion misses, she looked adorable! Her outfit fit the bill for an end-of-summer night that still felt beachy, but breezy. She was wearing a simple black mini tank dress like this American Apparel one, a pair of black and gold flats as seen now at Urban Outfitters and a long sweater like this one Gap is showing for fall. So, when your caught between summer and fall–think of Ashley Olsen and this 1-2-3 combo!

Platform Heels are Chic for Fall–Try Cheaper Dru NY Version of Narciso Rodriguez Footwear

By Andrea Thatcher on August 27th, 2007

platform%201.jpg platform%202.jpg

This fall, platform heels remain chic while becoming more streamlined and less clunky. The pair above is from Narciso Rodriguez’s fall 2007 ready-to-wear collection. The peep toe, black leather, and large buckle give the shoe a tough rocker look. For a cheaper, similar shoe try the pair at right from Dru NY found at UrbanOutfitters.com for $150. The patent leather T-strap and platform heel will also give you that rocker vibe while keeping your precious little toes warm as the weather cools.
