V Magazine releases Lady Gaga’s Polaroid moments and Vanity Fair wants her for its front cover

By Andrea Petrou on May 4th, 2010

Lady Gaga Polaroid Moments for V Magazine.jpg

As Lady Gaga‘s fame reaches astronomical heights more and more magazines are vying to get their hands on the singer.

One mag that’s recently succeeded in doing this is V. It’s featuring a Gaga Journal, which has been shot by Matthew Williams who has documented Lady Gaga’s life over the past months in NY, LA and Miami.

And if this wasn’t enough V will also feature some never before seen Polaroid snapshots, which Lady G become the Creative Director for in a speciality line of Polaroid imaging products, in their upcoming release.

And V isn’t the only mag that’s prowling around Lady G. According to WWD rumour has it that Vanity Fair is plotting to put a real, live celebrity on its September cover — and yes you guessed it, it’s Miss G.

If the rumours are to believed the singer will appear in the mag’s fall Style Issue, which last year featured archival images of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, instead of January Jones and Jon Hamm of “Mad Men,” as originally planned.

However, Vanity Fair isn’t giving anything away. A representative for the magazine said: “It’s our policy to not talk about future covers or stories, whether we are or are not working on them.”

Macy Gray to re-launch plus size clothing range

By Andrea Petrou on March 30th, 2010

Macy grey.jpg

Plus size models and clothing have become a huge trend over the past few seasons. Curvy models have graced the catwalk (thanks Marc Jacobs), had an issue of V Magazine dedicated to them and stores have also created more plus size collections.

Macy Gray is the latest lady to jump on this season’s plus size bandwagon. According to WWD, the singer is set to relaunch her plus size line, which goes by the name of Humps, next year.

The range, which she launched in 2008, didn’t really take off when it hit the shelves but apparently Ms Gray has been “re-inspired”.

We can’t wait to see what this new bout of inspiration brings.

First Looks, plus size

First looks: Crystal Renn for V Magazine

By Andrea Petrou on February 25th, 2010

Crystal V March.jpg

Cystal Renn is flying the flag for plus sized women and models everywhere.

She appeared in last month’s V magazine’s plus sized edition and earlier this week donned a bodycon dress for Mark Fast’s LFW catwalk show. And she’s still going.

The successful plus sized model, who admitted she used to suffer with anorexia due to the pressure of trying to make it as a “normal” sized model, has once again made her way to the front cover of V’s next issue hitting the shelves next month.

Posing in an Agent Provocateur bra and Dolce & Gabbana knickers, she’s the epitome of real beauty in our eyes.

Emma Watson for V Magazine

By Andrea Petrou on February 4th, 2010

Emma Watson’s come along way from her Harry Potter days, taking on a range of modelling jobs and designing a collection for ethical clothing company People Tree.

We’ve watched as she’s grown from a bushy haired teen to a groomed glamorous lady fronting high end campaigns for Burberry.

However, just as we thought she couldn’t get anymore ladylike the actress appears in smudged eye make-up and smeared lipstick in an arty eight page spread for the new issue of America’s Vs magazine.

Not only is the vintage clothing and make-up a huge step from her Burberry campaign, but for once Emma actually looks like she’s having fun. There’s no smoldering looks on this spread.

Evans enlists top plus size models for its new advertising campaign

By Andrea Petrou on January 28th, 2010

Evans.jpg
Evans has been the hero for plus sized ladies for a good few years now, and definitely deserves recognition for leading the way in plus size clothing.

However as a pioneer for these fashions its somewhat been left at the wayside as other retailers, such as Asos, which launched its Curve collection last week, breeze into the plus size market. And it’s not just retailers who have been making (a very appreciated) bigger is beautiful storm.

V Magazine dedicated an issue to plus sized models, while last year Glamour used a curvy woman for its cover. Mark Fast also cast size 14 girls to walk in his LFW show

Therefore it’s no surprise that Evans has really stepped up its advertising game. The retailer has enlisted a range of top plus size models including Britney Vecchio, Hayley Morley Amber Tolliver, Peeky and Crystal Renn to front its new campaign. And we love this shot which shows them wearing a selection of this season’s must have jackets.

We really hope these beautiful women can show those teeny tiny “give them a burger” models that bigger is far more attractive.

ASOS Curve range for plus sized women goes on sale

By Andrea Petrou on January 22nd, 2010

Asos Curve collection.jpg
Today is definitely the day to get those purses out. First Jonathan Saunder’s collection for Topshop hit stores and now Asos’s collection for curvy women has just been available online.

The Asos Curve
range includes dresses, tops, bottoms, outerwear and swimwear for size 20-26 women and will be updated every season.

The online retailer said the capsule collection consists of “key trend-led pieces including jersey, tailoring, knitwear and outerwear taken from the main own-label range and adapted to fit the curvier figure.”

We hope other retailers (namely Selfridges) take note of this gorgeous collection and follow suit.

V Magazine dedicates a full issue to plus size models

By Andrea Petrou on December 15th, 2009

V mag.jpgWe’ve been having a moan about skinny models for a very long time now. This was briefly broken when a few months ago after Glamour featured photo of plus model Lizzie Miller on its front cover, and when Mark Fast caused controversy when he sent plus-size models down his spring catwalk in September, but as far as we were concerned nothing else seemed to change. Until now that is.

V magazine has decided to bump up the debate by dedicating a whole issue to larger models. The glossy, which has previously featured Alexa Chung has decided to fly the flag for normal looking girls and features Crystal Renn, Kate Dillon, Mia Tyler, Whitney Thompson and Hayley Morley in designer clothes.

Stephan Gan, editor of V magazine said: “Big, little, pint-size, plus-size – everybody is beautiful. And this issue is out to prove it.”

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves Stephan.

Natalie Portman poses in fun and risque outfits for a spread in V Magazine

By Andrea Petrou on November 5th, 2009

I’ve loved Natalie Portman ever since she first caught my eye in Leon when I was 11 (yes I had very liberal parents.)

She’s blossomed ever since into a fully fledged actress, bagging lead roles in Starwars and starring alongside Clive Owen and Jude Law (how lucky is this girl?) in Closer.

So I didn’t expect anything less from her when she took part in this photoshoot for this issue of V-Magazine, which is out today.

Shot by famous photographer Mario Testino the actress poses in a range of fun and risque outfits including swimsuits, Swarvoski crystals, studs and Calvin Klein denim.

Alexa Chung models lace, leather and sequins for V Magazine photoshoot

By Andrea Petrou on October 30th, 2009

Alexa V mag.jpgWe have to admit we like Alexa Chung. She’s kooky, funny and most of all has great fashion sense.

So we’re really not surprised that she wears a mix of lace, leather and sequins by top designers including Stella McCartney, Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana so well in these photos for V Magazine.

The 25-year-old TV presenter and ex model posed for Sharif Hamza and spoke about living in Brooklyn, anxieties and friendships where she claimed she didn’t have many friends in America. We’ll be your friend Alexa, as long as you share that wardrobe with us.

Kate Moss roughs it on latest photoshoot

By Andrea Petrou on September 2nd, 2009

Kate MossjpgDespite her posh, celebrity lifestyle Kate Moss doesn’t look at all out of place dressed as a beautiful gypsy for this latest photoshoot.

The model joined a group of travellers on a photo spread for an upcoming issue of V Magazine, shot by Iain McKell and shunned hotels for a designer camping van (well camping might have been too much to ask for.) And she wasn’t exactly slumming it in the clothes she wore for the shoot.

The range included Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony, Kenzo and John Galliano.

According to reports she partied the night away with her new found friends and we’re sure you’ll agree she looks absolutely stunning in this shoot.

If I had been out partying the night before it would have a taken a day of at least ten makeup artists to make me look a fraction as good as Kate.

Mag watch: Cameron Diaz and Lady Gaga’s edgy editorials for V magazine

By Kimberley Foster on July 6th, 2009

From Catwalk Queen

It is another nod to Madonna, with a hint of Gwen Stefani in this latest cover for V magazine, starring Cameron Diaz. The actress steps out of comfort-zone for an edgy photo-shoot taken by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Reminiscent of Madge’s iconic True Blue phase, Cam experiments with short peroxide hair, fake tattoos and cone bra fashioned out of gaffer tape.

Vote for your favorite or upload your own photo for Supreme’s online model search

By Andrea Thatcher on September 20th, 2007

Wanna be on top? (Na-na na na na-na). Sorry, we couldn’t resist. If the premiere of America’s Next Top Model last night had you thinking “I could do that!” then here’s your chance. Supreme Management and V Magazine are inviting girls over 13 and 5’7″ (God help those girls that are under 13 and 5’7″!) to upload their photos to the contest site and try their luck and looks at a three year modelling contract among other prizes. If you’re more of a voyeur, you can vote for your favorite here. It’s much more fulfilling than screaming at Tyra and Ms. J–who we saw in Bryant Park, donchaknow.
