Kate Middleton is named as one of the world’s best dressed women

By emilyborrett on August 4th, 2011

It seems that it’s not just us that’s got terrible K-Middy fever, as she’s just been voted as one of the world’s best dressed women in the world in Vanity Fair.

Kate was hailed as the third most well-dressed women in the world, having been pipped to the post by Carla Bruni in first place and Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser of Qatar in second. Still Kate, third place ain’t bad. Also on the list were Carey Mulligan, Tilda Swinton and Princess Charlene of Monaco.

Vanity Fair applauded the young Duchess for her recent habit of “recycling” clothes (i.e. wearing them more than once, ever). Apparently she’s worn her green Diane Von Fustenberg in public at least three times now! Three! Having scorned at the rich and beautiful’s idea of recycling, I have to admit that if I was the Duchess of Cambridge I’d probably never wear the same thing twice – so many fashion possibilities.

Congratulations, oh shiny-haired one – you’re officially the third best-dressed woman in the world.

Lady Gaga is a one man girl

By admin on August 16th, 2010

It’s no secret that Lady Gaga has safe sex as a priority on her list, talking about it a number of times. However, the pop princess has now gone one step further on the sex topic telling American radio station AMP that sex with strangers is not for her.

In response to a question from host Carson Daly the Lady said: “I have weird superstitions about sex. If you’re not having sex with someone who really cares about you or who really loves you they can screw up your energy.”

Daly’s question comes after the pop star, famed for her elaborate outfits and dynamic stage show, appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair and admitted an unusual and unique fear to the magazine.

“I have this weird thing that if I sleep with someone they’re going to take my creativity from me through my vagina,” she told the magazine.

Ladies, we may applaud Ms G for her sensible approach to monogamy but we have to let you know, that someone you are sleeping with cannot steal your creativity in that way.

V Magazine releases Lady Gaga’s Polaroid moments and Vanity Fair wants her for its front cover

By Andrea Petrou on May 4th, 2010

Lady Gaga Polaroid Moments for V Magazine.jpg

As Lady Gaga‘s fame reaches astronomical heights more and more magazines are vying to get their hands on the singer.

One mag that’s recently succeeded in doing this is V. It’s featuring a Gaga Journal, which has been shot by Matthew Williams who has documented Lady Gaga’s life over the past months in NY, LA and Miami.

And if this wasn’t enough V will also feature some never before seen Polaroid snapshots, which Lady G become the Creative Director for in a speciality line of Polaroid imaging products, in their upcoming release.

And V isn’t the only mag that’s prowling around Lady G. According to WWD rumour has it that Vanity Fair is plotting to put a real, live celebrity on its September cover — and yes you guessed it, it’s Miss G.

If the rumours are to believed the singer will appear in the mag’s fall Style Issue, which last year featured archival images of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, instead of January Jones and Jon Hamm of “Mad Men,” as originally planned.

However, Vanity Fair isn’t giving anything away. A representative for the magazine said: “It’s our policy to not talk about future covers or stories, whether we are or are not working on them.”

Vanity Fair Oscar 2010 after party worst dressed: Selma Blair

By Andrea Petrou on March 9th, 2010

Selma.jpg

Like with the Oscar‘s ceremony we were a little bit hard pressed to find a worst dressed celebrity at the Vanity Fair Oscar 2010 party. Katie Price stuck to Elton’s do, and other celebs really dressed for the occasion.

However, there is always one that gives us an excuse for a little “what was she wearing” comment and we’re sorry to say that these words have fallen on Selma Blair.

We don’t mind the sparkly frock, but the length is a little bit confused for us, sitting too far under the knee and too high up to make it full length. We also think the blazer the actress has teamed it up with is too heavy for the outfit.

And we understand that it was cold, but Selma, really, you’re already wearing a blazer, you don’t need a scarf. Take a look around you and have a think about all those ladies who have braved the freeze without even a shawl.

Vanity Fair Oscar 2010 after party trends: Asymmetric necklines

By Andrea Petrou on March 9th, 2010

There were a range of different trends at this year’s Oscars (metallic stood out for us here), but these also carried on into the after parties. We saw short, black and blue, as well as metaliic at many of these parties.

However one trend that really stuck out at the Vanity Fair after party was asymmetric necklines. These were sported by the likes of Victoria Beckham, who wore the same frock to Elton’s event and the Vanity Fair party, Kate Beckinsdale, who looked stunning in an on-trend silver long dress and Jessica Simpson who spice up anotherwise plain black dress with this neckline.

View out gallery to see who else was on-trend with this style.

Oscars 2010: Best dressed at the Vanity Fair after party

By Andrea Petrou on March 9th, 2010

While Elton and his celebrity clan were living it up at his after party event, other celebrities partied the night away at the Vanity Fair event.

Amanda Seyfried, who thankfully changed out of her bridal red carpet dress, Katy Perry, Cameron Diaz, Amy Adams (who was notedly absent at the actual Oscars ceremony) all made an appearance.

And some, including Victoria Beckham (who wore the same dress) also mixed and matched their evenings attending both.

We’ve put together a gallery of the best dressed.

Writers’ strike gives stars more time for fashion! Blake Lively to attend Paris couture

By Andrea Thatcher on January 18th, 2008

With television shows and film projects on hold because of the Screen Writer’s Guild strike, actors not only have more time on their hands, but might just be searching for a few more opportunities for self promotion.

Fashion insiders have been predicting that this could end the lull of celebrity appearances at fashion weeks.

One bright young thing headed to Paris couture fashion week is Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively. The starlet has been invited to Chanel, Valentino, and Jean Paul Gaultier as a guest of Vanity Fair magazine which will then shoot a spread of the actress in the couture creations.

No Reese Witherspoon or Gwyneth Paltrow to gawk at? Why the red carpet might not go on

By Andrea Thatcher on December 20th, 2007

Oscars%202007.jpg

I have been a bit confused about why the Writer’s Guild of Hollywood strike might ruin our red carpet fashion season, and so I thought some of our readers might be too and we could all use a good explanation. It is not just that the writers are refusing to work for the Golden Globes and Oscars, some of the biggest nights in fashion. It’s more about the fact that the writers may be picketting these events, they already have plans to picket the Golden Globes, which would mean actors who walk the red carpet would be crossing picket lines – which so far most have refused to do. Actors have been showing tremendous solidarity with the writers.

What could this mean? There are predictions of a more low-key red carpet, like the one after 9/11, or a regular awards show dinner like they did in the old days without a red carpet. In this contingency, we’re guessing that after parties like Vanity Fair’s would turn into the fashion show.
