The Washington Post is of the mind that the scarves on Balenciaga‘s fall runways are going to change the way we look at and wear the accessories this winter. While the look on the left is perhaps an accurate portrayal of what East Coasters end up looking like in the winter, we’re thinking that without the uber-tailored look, 6-foot frame, and designer styling (and with snot frozen to your face) it’s not going to look so fashionable and suggest trying to emulate the look on the right. Fashion Week Daily reports that Victoria Beckham, aka “Posh Spice, and Vera Wang will appear on the November 8th episode of “Ugly Betty.” Beckham will play Wilhelmina’s bridesmaid, and mostly likely, Wang will play the wedding gown virtuoso that she is. Mark your calendars for the November sweeps episode. And let’s see if Beckham’s acting has improved since Spice World.

The October 16th issue of Esquire Magazine will feature South African born actress and model Charlize Theron as 2007′s “Sexiest Woman Alive.” An Oscar winner for her role in Monster, Theron has also been the face of big brands including Christian Dior, Raymond Weil and PETA. She has also received great accolades for her sense of style–often turning out in gowns by Oscar de La Renta, Dior, Vera Wang and Versace–shown above at the Venice Film Festival in September. My vote is with Esquire on this one! Charlize is definitely the Sexiest Woman Alive!

Black used to be the end all be all, but now it’s let a bit of gray sneak by! Everywhere I turn from knit sweaters to coats to evening dresses, racks are being bombarded with gorgeous grays. Top designers Michael Kors, Carolina Herrara, Vera Wang, Calvin Klein and Nicole Miller are all showing gray in their Fall 2007 collections. So if you want to give your black clothes a break, go get some gray. Depending on your budget, here are two great pieces to start with: a metallic sweater top for $19.80 at Forever 21 (left) and this cable-front tunic from Barneys for $695 (right). Clearly you will have no problem finding something when things just aren’t lookin’ so black and white!

Spring and summer ’08 look to be wonderful seasons for fashion, with plenty of styles to choose from. Half the designers went with more muted colors–gray, white, black, and beige–and longer hemlines, while the other half went for a more bright, colorful look ranging from bright yellow to red to green to blue and shorter hemlines. But overall, the trend for spring is waist-defining dresses with light, flowing skirts, and lots of belts–from skinny to wide. Not to mention hats! I love that hats are back–from floppy wide brims to porter hats to straw hats. Take a look at the summary of some of our favorite designers’ shows and more pictures from their shows, after the jump.
