By Andrea Petrou on May 16th, 2012

The sun has finally made an appearance putting us in the mood for some Spring/Summer fashion.

Whilst we’re not yet talking flip flops and hotpants we are casting our eyes over all the summer styles River Island has to offer, from pastel lightweight jumpers to the more on-trend 80s Versacesque patterns.

Those looking for any opportunity to get their legs out will love the highstreet store’s choice of denim shorts, whilst we heart the studded bralets and straight skinny skirts, which are perfect for that special summer party.

Style spotlight: The Voice UK judge- Jessie J

By Andrea Petrou on April 24th, 2012

We’ve had our style eye on Jessie J for a while now, pinpointing her as the one to watch many moons ago.

And it seems we were right with the singer carving out a fashion niche for herself thanks to her love of Versacesque 80s patterns, skintight catsuits and cute hotpants.

Her new role as a judge on the BBC’s talent show – The Voice UK- has also done wonders for her style profile with many sitting up and taking note of this young singer.

One thing we heart about Jessie is that she’s not afraid to experiment with her look opting for some styles that could be seen as garish.

This includes a wardrobe of leopard print dresses and trousers in bright colours, however, the singer has a way of toning these down to make them items we all want to wear.

We want her as our new wardrobe sharing BFF.

See the gallery below for her style.

Top five SS 2012 looks from Paris Haute Couture week

By Andrea Petrou on January 25th, 2012

Yesterday we bought you all the fashion fun from the Versace Haute Couture show and today we only thought it fair that we included a range of the other gorge designs shown off at this event.

We’ve therefore decided to put together what we think are the best five looks from a range of designers at this year’s fashion shin ding.

Of course we couldn’t compile a list like this without including Chanel, which amongst other great designs gave us a very 50s sequined blue shift frock with a hint of 80s styling in the shoulders.

Dior gave us a stunning girly net tea length dress, while Louis Vuitton went all lacey and 60s with a cute cream frock.

Over at Giorgio Armani the tone was all glam, with our fashion eyes landing on a metallic fishtail frock and bolero, while Stephane Rolland went all out with a flamboyant twisted white skirt and black bodice. We heart.

See the gallery below for our top five.

Versace couture SS 2012 catwalk

By Andrea Petrou on January 24th, 2012

The couture shows are in full fashion flow and over the next few days we’ll be bringing you all our fave styles from the likes of Miu Miu, Gucci and Chanel.

However, today our beady little style eyes are firmly focusing on Versace’s latest offerings, which this year have given a huge nod to the spangly seventies.

Short sequined frocks in golds, yellows and whites marched down the catwalk, while there was also a touch of the 80s Wonderwoman look with a cute futuristic silver leotard.

Contrasting with these fun, minimal styles were long luscious lace and beaded frocks, which epitomised Versace’s classic Hollywood style.

See the gallery below for all the latest looks on the Versace couture SS 2012 catwalk.

H&M and Versace team up to create an affordable clothing range

By Andrea Petrou on June 21st, 2011

Versace is to collaborate with H&M.

The Italian fashion house – headed up by Donatella Versace – has teamed up with the Swedish high street brand to create a collection, which will include menswear, womenswear and homeware.

Donatella said: “I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching its wide audience. The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere.”

Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M – who has masterminded collaborations with Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Comme des Garcons and Jimmy Choo in the past – added: “Versace is one of the most important brands of recent times and their collection for H&M will be glamorous and flamboyant – everything Versace stands for. Donatella Versace is sharing with us iconic designs from the archives. This is such a celebratory collaboration and is perfect for the party season.”

The collection will go on sale on November 17 and will be followed by a pre-spring collection that will be available online from January 19.

The news of the collaboration comes three ways after Donatella ruled out a high street diffusion.

She said: “I respect everyone who does it. But the reason I didn’t do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand.”

Lady Gaga’s Versace vow

By Andrea Petrou on June 13th, 2011

Lady Gaga is only going to wear Versace clothes for the next two months.

The ‘Born This Way’ singer has become obsessed with the fashion house’s garments, both new and vintage, and has decided to exclusively style herself in the clothes.

Speaking at the Schlosshotel Bensberg in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, Gaga – who was wearing a floor-length, low-cut Versace dress and latex gloves – told BANG Showbiz: “Right now what I’m wearing is an archive Gianni Versace. This was never seen before. It is a dress that was made before he died. And actually I’m wearing only Versace for like the next two months. I’m having a love affair with Donatella.”

Gaga – who is in the European country to perform on the final of ‘Germany’s Next Top Model’, which is hosted by Heidi Klum, tonight (09.06.11) – is known for her outrageous outfits, but she insists she feels more comfortable when she is nude.

She said: “I sometimes feel naked with clothes on. Sometimes I feel less naked with no clothes. Does that make any sense? I feel quite comfortable in my underwear or in see thorough things.”

The 25-year-old pop superstar admits she does sometimes go too far with her outfits, but she doesn’t let that stop her from being experimental because fashion should be fun above everything else.

When asked if she ever regrets any of her outfits, she said: “All the time. But that’s part of the fun of it. You know, I always try to get dressed with a little bit of humour. It’s not about being sexy or being just, I guess, attractive. It’s about having fun.”

Milan Fashion Week highlights: Versace

By Andrea Petrou on September 27th, 2010

Versace was one show we couldn’t wait to feast our fashion eyes on at Milan Fashion Week and thankfully Donatella Versace’s SS2011 collection didn’t disappoint.

The designer put together a show of vibrant fashions including statement curve hugging body con dresses in exotic geometric print knits and longer than usual lengths.

Like many designers at both MFW and LFW there was a nod to fringing in dresses as well as a range of cropped jackets, suit skirts that were paired with tops and PVC embellished dresses.

Colours were bright, playful consisting of white, red, black and turquoise.

The fact that Mad Men star January Jones turned up in the front row says it all.

Cheryl Cole wows on the Cannes red carpet

By Andrea Petrou on May 24th, 2010

Cheryl Cole Cannes Day 12-400.jpg

We covered some of the best dressed A-listers from the last day of the Cannes Film Festival 2010 early this morning. However one celebrity who we think really deserves her own story is Cheryl Cole.

The singer who performed earlier on in the Cannes film fest to the tune of £250,000 at a dinner hosted by jewellery company De Grisogono in a Roberto Cavalli black frock, once again took to the red Cannes carpet. This time it was for the premiere of Outside the Law.

The starlet opted for a white floor length gown with cut out side panels and a very daring thigh high split by Versace, which she teamed up with white on-trend peep toe shoes. Celebrities forget the wedding dress look, if you want to go for the white trend du jour, this is the way to do it.

First Looks: Lara Stone in Versace’s Versus fragrance video

By Andrea Petrou on February 4th, 2010

Lara Stone Versace.jpg
Lara Stone has barely been out of the spotlight this year due to her high profile campaigns for Louis Vuitton and a number of magazine spreads.

And her personal life has also caused huge waves with the model announcing her engagement to funny man David Walliams last month.

However, today she’s racking up the column inches for her modelling and acting work starring in the new advert for Versace’s Versus fragrance.

The 30-second clip shows her dancing in a room full of mirrors with flashing pink and purple lights in the background. Sounds like our ideal Friday night.
