Whitney Port is the new face of Very AW11

By Elisabeth Edvardsen on November 2nd, 2011

Having made her fame – and turned herself into a LA style icon and fashion designer for her own brand Whitney Eve – through reality TV show The Hills, Whitney Port has now set her eyes on conquering Britain by becoming the latest celebrity to front a collection for Very.co.uk.

Joining Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby, who both design for the brand, Whitney is the face of the Autumn Winter 2011/12 capsule collection for the Love Label and Love Label Luxe.

The collection is very seventies inspired and is part glam, part hippie. We’re big fans of Very’s Love label as it offers affordable yet beautiful designs. Love Label prices range from £8 to £75 and Love Label Luxe ranges from £38 to £120.

Best dressed of the week: Kate Middleton, Paris Hilton and Kylie Minogue

By Andrea Petrou on April 15th, 2011

It’s been a week of fancy frocks and casual wear as celebrities have been spotted at events and out and about.
Flying the flag for fancy frocks was Kylie Minogue who looked stunning in a lace cream dress, while Neve Campbell stood out at the Scream 4 Premier in black.

And the LBD seemed to be the style du jour this week with Amanda Seyfried, Anne Hathaway and Peaches Geldof all sporing this look.
Keeping in with the navy blue trend was Kate Middleton who opted for a not so fashionable look of a knee length pencil skirt and jacket, while Emma Roberts showed us how to work this colour is a cute halterneck frock.
Also standing out was Paris Hilton who went for a bright floral number, while Dannii Minogue went all casual yummy mummy on us with a nautical top and jeans.

Whitney Port says Princess Diana was a style icon

By Andrea Petrou on April 14th, 2011

Whitney Port’s style icon is the late Princess Diana.

The reality TV star admires the way the British royal – the former wife of Prince Charles, who died in a car crash in 1997 – took fashion risks despite having such a high-profile position.

Asked who her style icons are, she said: “I always looked up to Princess Diana. She took a lot of fashion risks at times when she was looked at so closely. I also love how Alexa Chung mixes tailored men’s clothing with dresses.”

The 26-year-old beauty also admits she finds her own image as a style icon “surreal” but loves to be inspiring people with her fashion choices.

She told LOOK magazine: “It’s surreal. I love that people all over the world can see what I’m wearing and use that as inspiration for their own look.

“I think about how I feel about my style icons and to think someone feels that way about me is crazy.”

Whitney, 26, has previously insisted she would never undergo cosmetic surgery, saying she thinks her ‘Hills’ co-star Heidi Montag – who famously underwent 10 procedures in one day – went to an extreme.

She said: “If you really feel like you want a little nip and tuck, that’s your prerogative but that’s not something I’d ever want to get into – especially to the level Heidi did. I think at our age it’s a little bit much.”

Style Spotlight: Whitney Port

By Andrea Petrou on March 17th, 2011

Whitney's perfected Beverley Hills laidback cool in this slouchy denim shirt and hotpants combo - who said that double denim doesn't work?

As the weather slowly brightens up in the UK (we can go out without wearing thermal vests under our outfits! There’s blossom on the trees!) we can start to look forward to what will hopefully be a long, glorious and fashionable spring/summer. Us Brits are good to take tips from during the winter months, but for fashion inspiration it’s better to look across the pond to where the stars dress for gloriously sunny weather almost all year round. You don’t need to look much further than The City TV-star Whitney Port.

More friendly and accessible than Olivia Palermo, more fashion-savvy than Lauren Conrad, she’s the perfect ambassador for laidback summer dressing. We’re particular fans of her off-duty style that she’s papped out and about in; slouchy denim shirts, hotpants and flip-flops and sunnies. And in true It-girl style, she’s never without an absolutely killer bag. Check out our gallery to see our favourite recent Whitney moments.

Trend Alert: The new backpack

By Andrea Petrou on September 10th, 2010

By Emily Borrett.

When I started secondary school, you could tell who was cool and who wasn’t by what kind of school bag they had. If you had a shoulder bag, you were cool. If you had a backpack, and wore both straps on your shoulders (as your mum instructed, so you didn’t get a bad back) you weren’t. And yes, I was stuck with the backpack – it was so heavy that I walked like one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I still, to this day, blame that backpack for being so terminally unpopular for the first three years of high school.

But suddenly, a new breed of backpack has appeared. It’s lightweight, chic and a bit of a wink to the 90s “Clueless era” when fresh, preppy schoolgirl style ruled. And when it’s being championed by the likes of Daisy Lowe, the Olsens and The City’s Whitney Port, you know you’re onto a good thing.

Even Chanel’s making them – in lush, buttery-looking quilted leather with the iconic double C emblem. Back to school chic has never been so good. Check the gallery below for some of the best back-candy around at the moment.

Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Whitney Port and Ashley Greene turn up for the MuchMusic awards

By Andrea Petrou on June 22nd, 2010

It was a night on music, and prizes at the MuchMusic awards, held in Torronto on Sunday. However, this was one of the first awards this year where the stars didn’t really shine with their outfits of choice.

Katy Perry hit the red carpet in a bright-blue Ashish mini dress with knot detailing on the side making before changing into high-waisted shorts and a bralet to perform her single Californian Girls.

However, her sexy outfit was overtaken by presenter Miley Cyrus who changed out of her body-con nude dress and into a a tiny black netted ensemble for her performance on-stage. But it didn’t end there with the star changing again – this time into a stringy white leotard – for another song, and then again into a black leather frock to pose with her award.

Ashley Greene also turned up to the event in a textured Isaac Mizrahi dress with her Twilight co-stars Kellan Lutz and Xavier Samuel and just about pulled of a fashionable look. However it all went downhill for Ke$ha who gave a too big nod to the tribal trend, even bringing along a cultural tribal stick.

However our fashion award of the night goes to Whitney Port who graced the red carpet in a mismatch of florals (but it seemed to work) before changing into a sophisticated black frock and ankle boots for the afterparty.

Erin Lucas not returning for second series of The City

By Kimberley Foster on July 13th, 2009

erinlucas_thecity.jpgFans of The City may be surprised to learn that one of the show’s cast is already pulling out. Erin Lucas has confirmed that she will not be returning for the second season.

“I decided to do something different,” she told NY Mag. “I have a project in the mix, but I want to get into more hosting. That’s really what I love. It was just hard. It was a chapter in my life and it was nothing but positive. I’m glad I did it, but on to the next thing”.

She also admitted that she hadn’t spoken to Whitney Port for months.

“We were [close], but things change,” she said. “There was a falling out”.

Oh dear! Erin also said that there were no hard feelings, and if she ever saw Whitney again she would give her a big hug.

At the end of last season, The City also lost Jay after Whitney decided to break up with him to focus on her career and being a single gal about town. At this rate, there won’t be anyone left.

Whitney Port turns model for Women’s Health July/August ’09 issue

By Kimberley Foster on June 30th, 2009

whitneyport_modelling_womenshealtheditorial.jpg

Andre Leon Talley once said that she should be a model, and ended up recruiting her for a national TV spot. Although it resulted in her falling on her backside in front of millions of morning show viewers, Whitney Port certainly has what it takes to step onto the runway.

Another season of Whitney Port’s ‘The City’ headed our way

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on January 29th, 2009

thecity_whitneyport_secondseries.jpg

Whitney Port’s The Hills spinoff series The City has been given the green light for a follow-up season.

This is obviously good news for fans of Port and her ‘social’ (not socialite, darling) pal Olivia Palermo who are based in New York. It’s also good news for Diane von Furstenberg, where Port now works who will no doubt score more screen time thanks to MTV.

I wonder what Lauren Conrad and co. think…

Whitney Port tells you what she wears each week on The City

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on January 14th, 2009

Whitney Port fashion recap.jpg

Wonder what Whitney Port is wearing in the latest episode of The City? Well since you’re such good friends and all she’ll tell you! Just go to her personal Web site this week and find out who made that dress or jacket (hint: It’s Diane von Furstenberg).

Her shoe collection is the most lust-worthy, and we’re guessing she couldn’t afford to keep it up even with her MTV money, so this whole wardrobe breakdown must be a way to give extra publicity to the brands who give her clothes.

YouTube Watch: Whitney Port talks The City for TeenVogue

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on January 5th, 2009

In case you DVR’d Gossip Girl and weren’t inundated with commercials for Whitney Port’s new show, The City, here’s a little sneaky peak. Whitney talks to Teen Vogue about the show and how she’s liking living in New York City.

The New York Times yesterday skewered the show, and the whole Hills franchise, hilariously. Nonetheless we’re expecting it to be popular in the same way that the Hills is – earnestly with teens and ironically with fashion peeps and pop culture fiends.

The Fashion Flipside festival went down on the LES – nothing if not a cool location for a fashion show. The city streets make a much cooler background for a runway than a white tent. [Fashion Pirates]

Whitney Port is the most fashionable star of “The Hills” in our opinion, even if she did mispronounce Givenchy. Now she’s set to launch her own contemporary clothing line called Eve & A this fall.

Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port work L.A. Fashion Week

By Andrea Kiliany Thatcher on March 10th, 2008

Lauren Conrad 2.jpg

Looks like Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port were put to work at the Orthodox show at L.A. Fashion Week.

It’s funny to see MTV’s resident fashionistas in the all-black fashion assistant uniform.

We’re sure to see footage of the show and possibly others on The Hills.

There’s no date yet for the premiere of season four. But, you can expect to watch Lauren’s Paris adventures on MTV March 24.
